Wyhe
There are only 2 wars classified as World Wars, but there have been countless wars that involve most of the world or just regional countries...therefore, there could be countless WW in the history of the world. 「tea.leaf」
There have been three international conflicts, two marked as "world wars."
ragnarok1945
the two we counted is only because they involved too many countries to be scaled down. In reality as long as it involves two countries or more it is technically considered a world war

ragnarok1945
fine, if you want to make it 3 or more, be my guest. As long as you're not saying the multiple powers have to be well known powers in the world

ragnarok1945
*shrugs* Plenty of world wars HAVE been fought without us even knowing about it, you know. The well known world powers at war we'd know, but sometimes the not well known world powers we simply don't see it

A country isn't a major power unless its prominence is recognized by the majority of the world. There is no such thing as an unknown world war; something like that involves unknown world powers, which can't logically exist. Do you even think about the things you say? Luna Lovegood
^^ Does that mean if the US invaded Canada, it would be considered a world war.

ragnarok1945
Then his theory is F****** up. All I'm saying is that there are world wars we don't know well on (or at all in some cases) in the history books. You can't say that simply means they never existed
Black Rose Phoenix®
Ok, this is messed up, so just for you ragnarok1945, i'm going to say this very clearly...There has only been 2 WW so far...yes there have been wars, but not with the whole world involved, infact that would have been impossible, because before the 18th century, it would of taken like a month to take bomb to the edge of a country by a boat, nobody would bother...even though there have been two world wars, we must face the rest were not between the entire world (or atleast most of it...), for get about the war currently going on, thats not a world war, because only three countries are actually fighting, now sorry, but you obviously don't know what a world war is... No other war affected as much area or people in the world as WWI and WWII. Not even half as many people have been killed in any war than in WWII. Not even the crusades, plus, casualties during the crusades didn't even equal as much as casualties during the Mongol invasion of the Middle East. Thank you Phoenix. ragnarok1945
I'm not saying the number of people effected are large compared to WWI and WWII, but there's still the world wars we have either forgotten or we know little on. You don't want to classify them as world wars, that's cool too.

ragnarok1945
I'm not sure on Peru, but the Nazis DID have some ties to the South American countries like Uruguay
Monkey
Ok, lets get this straight, a world war, must involve multiple countries. Not just like 2 or 3. For example, WWII had at least 15 different countries involved, that is considered a world war because almost a whole continent was involved in a single war. People say "oh yea, there will be a WWIII between these two countries" that is BS because a world war needs to be almost global.
ragnarok1945
but what do you say regarding the world power of those countries? Do they have to be well known or not?
Monkey
Generally speaking, most countries and continents are in peace except for Africa and Iraq. I mean I believe each country has some sort of power, it all varies on how many men are in their military forces and how well the living conditions and whether or not there is order in the country.
