CinnamonStar
"Art for art's sake" in the aestheticist tradition?Art to criticize and possibly even change social inequalities? For the purpose of enightenment?Or something entirely different? Discuss what purpose art should have in your opinion.

Guest JoshIcy
' pid='1379540' dateline='1227294483']i think the purpose of art is showing of ur skills of dwaring Umm... Wow. As JoC says about people who like Paramore simply for Haley. And I quote."Please die." The purpose of Art is to express oneself in a variety of mediums pertinent to their own interests or sense of self. These mediums can range from walking to Hand Painting a Skyscraper, below and above all is a way to express yourself. What the individual Artist makes of it, is what it is. And so is what the observers themselves do as they critique/and or visualize. That middle ground judges the overall skill level of the Artist at hand, and the piece that they have so created. CinnamonStar
' pid='1379540' dateline='1227294483']i think the purpose of art is showing of ur skills of dwaring This is not really the point of this topic.Of course self-expression is the main aspect of art, but my question is whether you think it should be used for example for social and political purposes (an example would be the Guernica painting by Picasso) or if you believe into the "art for art's sake" movement (example: Oscar Wilde). .Requiem
Art is an emotional state of a person no matter who they are. That person will expresses them self in any way if its how they look or just by drawing. Leonardo De Vinci used art to test new ways he thought and project how he wants people to see him. Bloodrun
The meaning of art is rather different for each person, same goes for music fun and love. Basically, art to anyone is a form to which to vent a feeling, be it love, hate, anger, etc.. I love art, and music, two of the, if not THE, greatest passions in the world. Pikachu
When you draw art, well there is no perfect art. When you are mad, you draw mad things therefore drawing self-created mad art (Think: Homer being angry and made a sculpture) When you are happy, you draw something happy. It basically tells your emotions and inner feeling

ragnarok1945
art doesn't have to be restricted to only drawing, if you mean colors. Music is a form of art, and that has no drawing
Miazo
It doesn't matter if it's drawing and or sig making it's just a way to show your emotions through color and theme.

ragnarok1945
If you want to call it that way, though some famous arts are displayed and thus is given an audience (or music performance for that matter)
~UNHOLY_PHOENIX~
If you want to call it that way' date=' though some famous arts are displayed and thus is given an audience (or music performance for that matter)[/quote'] I take it someone's a musician?? ;) Art, to me, is the opening of a soul's bottled, stirring emotions. We don't open this bottle around our friends, afraid that what they think will topple it and everything justs spills out. We open it slowly to our loved ones so we do not lose them, for it is possible to drown in these emotions as well. When we do open them, as with me and a piece of paper, we simply tilt the bottle and let the droplets poor out depending on what it is we have on our minds at the moment. It splashes on our pages, canvases, even instruments, staining them with our love, pain, hope, and regret... So yeah; i'm deep when it comes to art, i guess...
