that depends on the children's sense of responsibility. There are certainly those who'd be smart enough to know when it's to drink and when it's not

Problem isn't those who know when to not drink or don't drink at all, it's the ones who drink way too much. They outnumber the few that don't over do it.

Also, if those who do drink, but refrain from it when they find it to be bad, do so in large amounts, it actually affects their brain functions. It causes similar holes in brain activity and capabilities as some drugs and would inhibit their ability to logically find times to not drink and end up just drinking all the time.

If you lower the age, more people would feel as drinking is all right. Having growing 16 year-olds drinking is not the way to go. And let's say we go through with this. When the limit was 18, 16 year-old people were drinking. If the limit is 16, 14-year-old people would be drinking. Baaaad idea.

Actually, in Europe, the wine does not contain as much alcohol content. And most of the water is polluted. So the age limit is 10, I believe. More on topic, it doesn't matter bout car crashes. Being drunk is NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BODY, whether your 10, 50 or 100.
