Positive Criticism is a must!

We need to cut down on the negative feedback being dished out in the card creation forums, usually without any helpful advice. It creates a negative atmosphere that discourages new users from making new cards and sharing them. The best way for people to improve is for them to receive constructive criticism and encouragement.

Guys, this is a friendly card making forum, and with that we need to have a friendly atmosphere.

That being said, here are some examples, of both good and bad criticism.

Example 1 (bad):

Your cards suck man. I mean you have elementary spelling skills. You sir, Fail.

Example 2 (good):

Hmm,

I would suggest that you capitalize Deck, Graveyard and Life Points.

Also, hand is not capitalized.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I hope each and every one of you will follow this new rule.

And on that note, I would like to take the time to openly say, Shorten the length of your sigs, as some of them are way to big. Now, im not going to name any names, im just letting the members take care of it themselves, before a moderator uses his/her power to do it themselves.

I'm giving you guys the chance to notice these things ;)

I definately agree, positive criticism makes for better card makers and happier members who are more inclined to follow other forum rules.

People need to keep their anger or frustration in their personal life out of the tone of responses to card other members have posted.

I do think a punishment is in order for members not complying to the rule though, it will discourage people from nasty comments.

Great idea.

Great thread' date=' Bloodrun. Only suggestion I have is to change the title from "positive criticism" to "constructive criticism".

Well I thought about that, and Icyblue told me the same thing, but when I thought about it, I cam up with this:

Members here are primarily around and below the age of 13.

Which therefore means that they will more then likely understand what I mean when I say Positive, and Negative. Young kids are taught the fact Positive means good and Negative means bad.

While relaying the fact that Negative Criticism is no longer wanted, lets them know that They must be curtious when posting. Just saying Constructive Criticism would work, but more then likely the younger members will think that as long as they say how to change the card, they can still be mean..

Good point Bloodrun. There are many YCM members that are probably 11 or 12...They might have taken like you said, and then you probably would have had to create a thread similar to this one after so many complaints, and everything would continue to become more and more stressful therein. Just yet another example of how one dicision can change the corse of YCM history, whether it be a prodigous or miniscule situation, it can still change a lot. Good thinking. ;)
