ragnarok1945
you ever read The Mist by him?
armageddon08
Yea. I didn't read the whole book, just the original short story. I believe the book which it came from was called Night Shift, where you can also read part of the Stand.
ragnarok1945
I've only heard of the Stand as a TV series (oh and offtopic if we're going to discuss him you may want to change the thread topic)
armageddon08
All right, let's talk about the tower.
ragnarok1945
since I haven't read it, can you give me the plot at least?
armageddon08
All right. There's a gunslinger(Roland) who is looking for the Dark Tower. The Dark Tower twists the time in his world, and makes the world stretch, making the journey to get to it even longer. Along the way, Roland meets companions from doors that lead into our world. This is a 7 book series. Each book is about 400 pages long, but they're not boring, and if you read the first one and like it, you will get addicted and will want to know Roland's story, so you'll start reading the next one after(btw, I'm on the 5th book). ragnarok1945
oh I see. That was how I got into The Mist, you know (before watching the movie version)
armageddon08
But don't get me wrong, it's not a western all the way. I'll give you a rep because you seem like a good person who cares about the feelings of others and listens.
ragnarok1945
I hope not. I was never a fan of western books, you know
armageddon08
The first one is kind of western-ish, but not completely. The next couple are WAY better, so if you don't like the first one, it doesn't mean you'll hate the whole series. And I don't like westerns either. ragnarok1945
I find them.........old school. I may not have read much of King's books, but he does not strike me as the type to write western at all
armageddon08
He gave it a shot, didn't do as badly as most westerns, and made better sequels for it.
