Slowing the Machine Down

This section has started losing its purpose lately. Blindly copypasted sentences repeated over and over again, regardless of the age of the topic or its content, is useful for the assembly line, but not for this site. However, I believe we can put this straight and bring the Introductions section back to what it once was.

That being said, I don’t want to see the following things anymore:

  • § This section has been made for the new members to introduce themselves. Do not post an introduction topic if you have been a member of the site for 3 months or more, as it would be a bit late. Any topics made by members who have been around the forums for 3 months or longer will be locked.

  • § In addition to the rule above, do not use this section to announce your departure or return, but post in the Leaving/Return thread. Any thread of that type will be locked and result in a warning.

  • § Do not bump an old introduction thread, especially if the creator of said topic hasn’t logged in for ages.

  • § There is no purpose in greeting a banned member. Use the Report button if you see such a topic. If a member is only temporarily banned, I will unlock the thread when the ban has expired.

  • § As said above, please avoid copypasting the same sentence in every thread, as it is equal to spamming and can result in a warning. If you arrive on the site as a new member and all people would do would be blindly using the same sentence over and over again, would this make you feel welcome? Keep in mind that such “greetings” rather give the impression of not really caring, except for your post count. Note also that in rather extreme cases of too short or machine-like posts, applicable actions can be taken.

This should wrap it up. Any questions, comments or reminders of things I might have forgotten can be posted here.

Well there are members who are well-known while still having few stars and others who need a longer time. I tried to find an average between the different cases and came to the conclusion that 3 months should balance everything out. Thus you have a time frame of 3 months to introduce yourself, regardless of your level or post count and after that, any topic will be locked.

Hope that helped.^_^

But that works the other way too, some members create accounts, then don't use them for months, and reaper as 1-2 star members months latter.
