The Slime Lord
Yeah, I'm not back, I just need a question answered. So I'm pretty sure I'm getting a Japanese PS2 for Christmas. So sure that my dad asked me where one would buy one. After continuously getting shafted by companies such as Namco Bandai, I thought it would be best to suck it up and either mod my PS2, or get a Japanese one. My dad refused to get swap magic and other modding stuff like that, so a Japanese PS2 was the other alternative. Also, I want to play the Japanese versions of various DDR games, so yeah. Anyway, I'm beginning to ramble... So here's the question: if I were to get a Japanese PS2, would I also need Japanese memory card? Or could I save Japanese game saves on a US memory card? *Goes off to look for answer elsewhere and will check back soon*
Larxene
No. You can use an American memory card. American controllers will work on it too. The only thing that needs to be Japanese are the games.
RestLess-BoTics
I believe you're able to save data using an American PS2 memory card, but just to be sure, I would purchase a Japanese memory card. :] -Glasstin
Careless Whisper
Well, it's good to see you again, even though your not really coming back. Well, yeah, Glasstin and Claire basicly answered you. I agree that you should probably get a japanese memory card and an american one, just to see which one works. Whch ever works, use it. The Slime Lord
Wow, that was fast. @Shanoa: You have Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+, right? So you would know this for sure? @glasstin: I was thinking the same the same thing. I was also thinking that even if I didn't need one, I could get one for the lulz because I read that American and European games can be saved on a Japanese memory card. I could always use another memory card. Especially if it's the sexy Tales of Destiny Remake: Director's Cut one. :P EDIT: @Meti: Good to see you too :)
Larxene
Yes, I'm 100% sure. Although, it might depend on the version of the PS2 you're getting, but as far as I know it shouldn't matter. If you do have trouble, I'd buy a Japanese memory card like glasstin suggested.
The Slime Lord
I think it's a flat one. It's white if that matters. Also, one of the games I want happens to come with a bunch of stuff including a memory card, so yay for me.
MarbleZone
I own a fair share of Japanese games, in a modded American PS2, and American memory cards save the games just fine. It was answered already, but just in case you needed an extra opinion. Go for it, don't worry about the memory cards. ;)
