Zeroshot's Splices [31]

Zeroshot

Recommended Posts

Hello.

First I want to point something out, my title did not say 'Zeroshot's mega awesome completely amazing splicey bladidy bla' That's because I'm not professional and I don't not consider myself Megaly awesomely completelyly amazingly good at splices. With that, I'm saying that fixes are more helpful than 'Koolio man, 7/10'

Second, I fail at all things shading, half the time I don't know what the hell I'm doing. That's where I need the most help.

Third, I have over 100 splices. I will only be posting the ones I think are 'good'. Also, keep in mind that my favorite pokemon is Scizor.

3 1/2: I know the title is 'Splices' but I'll be posting Battle Scenes, Trainer sprites, fakemon, and maybe recolors too.

Fourth: Finally.

('Aero' is my Aerodactyl's nickname in ever pokemon game where I have aquired an Aerodactyl, which is 4. Prototype sprite uses Charizard wings, this was corrected and name shortened from Aerozardd to Aero.
Gallade (Platinum) Edit.

Dark

Erased some parts of gallade that stood out too much, like his hips, 'blades' on his arm and his mohawk. Edited head.

(Requested sprite, mostly just a recolor with some scratching done.)

Muk+Spiritomb+Haunter

Don't feel like doing the rest of the summary, deal with it.

2ryt2xi.png
Electivire+Magmortar

Electivires feet and left arm and things on his head, Magmortars body recolored as Electivire.

(I made this because I saw a splice of the same pokemon that was absolutely terrible. Granted, this didn't come out perfect but I like it. Emo haircuts are always fun on pokemon. Name a combination of Elekid and Boobum)

e8ajxf.png
Sharpedo+Arcanine/Growlith

All of the Arcanine/Growlith crap is scratched.

(I wanted to experiment with the A/G line shading. I left the eye seperate from the rest of the head because I wanted a little Sharpedo left in.

a588df.png
100% scratched

(I know the shading makes absolutly no sense whatsoever, but I think even with all the defects it still managed to look cool. It's supposed to be a Water/Ghost type based on polluted water)

10zvexw.jpg
Aggron body inferno'd several times with several different colors (all custum).

(It's supposed to be animated but I never god around to animating it correctly.)

1sctxi.jpg
Completely scratched

KRIS-core
sne1io.png

Now taking requests

(requests may be ignored and may not be done in order of request time.)

(You must post some sort of input on the sprites I have provided if you wish to request.)
All requested splices that don't meet my standerds will be placed here. Do not grade these as you would an above splice, as these were made for the public. I did do the best of my ability, however.

Wow' date='these are amazing.Spider Pig is awesome, and I find it hard to believe that you did Teh Big Time from scratch. You might want to take away the grey perts from Eatre.

[/quote']

I did do Teh Big Time completely from scratch. 5 days of drawing, erasing, re-drawing, coloring and shading.

Well first, my little brother made it very clear when he named it 'eatre' that the first 'e' is not capitalized. Second, I did have the version without the cloth in his hand at one time, but it was lost in a terrible eraser-related accedent.

Nice splices! Your Beezor looks a bit too busy with the stripes. Maybe cut down on the black stripes.

On the Syclone, you need to fix the shape and the shading of the head. It looks different than the rest of the splice because it looks more 2D than the rest. Shading would fix that. (I know it's got some, just needs more.)

Spiderpig: All I can say is Lol. ^_^

Keep up the good work!

Flygon+Scizor is a little mixed and matched. The three different types of green really throw it off. The wings seem out of place, specially teh way they are colored. The claws look weirdly disintatched fromthe rest of the body due to different shading. The tail is connected pretty bad also. As far as the shading go, and important rule to know about is light source. Shading is dicided by how light would hit your object. Normally the light of a Pokemon sprite comes from the top left corner. Your shading does seem random, and you just took what other sprites do for shading.

ShadingExampleSphere.png

That shows the basics of shading for the most part, but on the example of a sphere. It shows though how where the light shines directly, it's brightest, and where things block light, shadows are created. I'm not an expert on shading or anything, I'm not that great at spriting myself. Look at other's sprites, like Pokemon sprites, to figure how things are shaded.

Aerocactyl+Crobat+Aggron has some border issues. near the neck and a few other areas you have unrecolored borders. I don't like how you shaded the eye black, it's hard to notice and looks like one of the blotches that are on the rest of the head. The head also looks too metallic compared to the stone look the jaw and other parts have.

Flygon+Dragonite has eyes that look so weird, because of the red. A little red pixel is also on the antennae. The wings look off also, like Flygon wings often do, it's something about those wings that don't work.

Vader is neet, but the first problem I had was the lightsaber. It gets oddly thick near the end, it isn't very straight, the hilt looks weird, and it's coming out on a weird angle that doesn't look right with the angle of the arm and hand. The helmet also I find odd, it's weirdly large and there is that random light splotch on it. I get how there should be a highlight there, but that one is too bright compared tot he rest of it. Also, more shades could be better, only have about the three you have doesn't look too great.

Ok, for the Fakemon. The lightsource on it is in multiple different spots. The body suggests to the left. The spear, the top left. The right arm, the right. The right hand, bottom right. So over all, too many different locations of light. The shading in general on the face seems all over the place with little reasoning. Depending on the material of the face though, I'd imagine it to be more smooth and round, versus the way you have it very splotchy.

Borders need some work too. For example on the face, the left side the dark gray is very thick. Also there is that black border, which I assume is the normal body, in that case it should be that dark red color. You also didn't quite do rounded things right. Here is a chart I've used to show what I mean by that.

Circleexample.png

On the left side of that is a oval not done right, while on the right side is one that is done right. One the hand, it doesn't fully wrap around the spear. The feat look very awkward too in shape, I don't get why they are point like that either.

On the right arm, you don't have the same metal band as the left one. The spear in general I don't like, just because I don't get why it is there. Some Pokemon do have weapons, like Farfetch'd, but that's its entire theme. Your guy though seems to have the theme that he is a living clock, giving him the spear just adds more themes to him, too many can make a Pokemon cluttered and takes away from some of them. I understand though that is a clock hand though, and it isn't too bad of an addition, and it won't make the Fakemon 'bad', just as I said, cluttered. I also don't see how it is a dark/electric. I could see it being Normal, or even Normal electric, but the dark doesn't seem to fit in.

Jappio, thanks for the advice; something I find embarassing is that some things you said looked bad or weird, I did on purpose.

To answer a few of your questions,

1: Dark/ Electric.

Big Time is based off of a clock, clocks run on electricity.

It's Dark trait come mostly from the eyes and mustache. To tell you the truth, it is based off of a 50-70s TV villain (name unkown). The eyes look sinister and the villain is commonly looping his mustache.

2: The spear

I added the spear because that is one of the basic means of drawing I know. The truth is, I couldn't make the hand curl around into a fist perfectly, so I added somthing over it.

3: Vader

Thank you, I've never heard you ever call any of my work 'neet'

The lightsaber is supposed to look like it's coming out, it didn't work.

4: The dragonite.

I'll try to scratch the wings or explore other Flygon sprites. I don't like the eyes much either, I'll change it. One pixel......wow.... I didn't see it at all actually, thanks for noticing it.

Well the term neat I don't use too often, because normally I try not too. When critiquing I try avoid ego building, unless I really like something, or if I forget to take that out of the post. To be honest, I found your fakemon more neat than Vader. So just because I'm very critical and negative in my critiques, that's because I avoid complements. Normally everyone else is too busy giving complements in their responses, so I try to keep with just the negative stuff to try and balance.
