Make a Super Set Contest finished

Thought I'd make a contest:mrgreen:

 

Anyway, basically, come up with a set/archetype and make/show me 5 major cards from your set/archetype, then tell me how your set/archetype would work in the metagame. I'll give my opinions of all the cards you make and criticize or praise where necessary, followed by a well-rounded score that, I think, you deserve. Please feel free to discuss any point, that I make, which you disagree with.

 

1st Place: 3 Reps and 20 Points

2nd Place: 2 Reps

3rd Place: 1 Rep

ill be your first entrant. so do i understand this correctly? I just have to post 5 cards? cuuuuzz... i dont really wanna write a paragraph on why I like them...

 

You just have to think up a set / archetype (think E-Heroes)' date=' make 5 cards from it, then point out how your idea / mechanics will function in a competitive situation (AKA a real duel). Not that hard.

 

Needs End Date.

Without any participants, it's pointless to post an end date already, since it will likely be prone to change anyway.

 

That said, I'll join. There's a chance to work on that old deck destruction theme of mine.

these 5 cards came out of an unfinished collection im working on. hope you like!

This card can only be Tribute Summoned by Tributing 3 "Destiny Hero" monsters. When this card destroys a monster on your opponent's field and sends it to the Graveyard, put 1 Destiny Counter on this card (max. 5). When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon 1 "Demise Token" (Warrior-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 500/DEF 500) for each Demise Counter that was on this card in Defense Position to your field.

If this card is added to your hand by the effect of a card Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position of the field. If this card is Special Summoned successfully, add up to 2 DARK monsters from your Deck to your hand.

If this card is targetted by an Equip Spell Card, destroy this card and send it to the Graveyard. If "Destiny Hero Demise Knight" is on your side of the field, halve the ATK of this card. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, distribute all types of Counters among all cards that can take them until they are at max.

The original ATK of this card becomes the number of Counters on the field x200. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, remove all Counters from all cards on the field, then inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the number of Counters removed x400.

Activate only when there is at least 1 "Demise Token" on the field. Destroy all "Demise Tokens" on the field and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the number of "Demise Tokens" destroyed by this card's effect x200. If 5 "Demise Tokens" are destroyed by this card's effect, destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field and inflict damage equal to the number of cards destroyed x300.

 

 

 

I think they would be good in the meta b/c you can get the tokens out realatively quickly and then use the support cards to make them deal damage. (oops, sorry, i didnt post my token supports in here...) as far as the counters go... you get a couple guys on the field who have (max. 5). in counters you can deal a lot of damage combo'ing restrained fighter with counter killer.

They're pretty good but I might have to knock some points off because the archetype isn't original, not many but it does lack creativity that way. If you changed it so that your archetype was "Demise" instead of "D-Hero" you'd pull them back.

 

I like the cards and you obviouslt put alot of effort into them which I can plainly see. I like the Pics especially "Counter Killer."

 

I like "Demise Knight" and the effect is solid. There are a few errors in OCG like instead of "When this card destroys a monster on your opponent's field and sends it to the Graveyard" it should be "When this card destroys a monster on your opponent's side of the field as a result of battle and sends it to the Graveyard", this is minamal pickiness but it still goes down as a mistake in my book. also grammaticaly at the end it doesn't make sense, a couple of commas would sort it out I think.

 

"Demise Caller" is also good and might get some use in other strategies (don't know that much about meta). However there is a big error in grammar, "Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position of the field" you forgot "on your side."

 

"Restrain Fighter" might need some work. I understand to a point what his effect does but I'm not 100% there. Do you spread out evenly the Counters that are already on the field or do you just put the max nuber of Counters on all the cards that can take them.

 

On "Counter Killer", there is only one error, it should say "as a result of battle" and not "by battle."

 

Your Trap looks solid, I didn't pay much attention to it but it loos good. Might want to check how you should put the plural of Token on the Token's name though.

 

Probably wouldn't get much play in Meta though, seems prone to a lot of dead draws.

 

Overall good cards but just a few mistakes here and there, no big upsets. I'll give you a ruff score when I've got more entrants and have come up with an end date. Also please explain Restrained fighter to me.

To Dark Crokan, I'm not sure what you mean, do you wnat to scrap your D-Heros and put 5 different cards in or are you jusk asking me a question? (The answer to either of them would be yes but I still want to know but I did put alot of effort into that rate)

Well... I'm not sure, it doesn't seem to have anything special about it you know like the Chain Link cards, it just looks like a monster for Water support.

 

EDIT: Wait a minute I got confused thought the first guy was you. Try and make it so that they work for them selves, like the new Ice Boundary cards. You can make the E-Hero cards if you want but it wont get the most awesome marks possible because you didn't come up with the archetype.

Well I’m not entirely sure what you want me to say about the pics, I mean you’ve stuck an arm over a Monarch then given it a different effect, kinda weak in that respect. The pics for the Earth and Water ones are good but why didn’t you just find good pics for the other?

 

When it comes down to the effects well that’s pretty weak to. You’ve made each one of them have the same effect but have them refer to their respective Attribute.

 

In respect to how they’d perform in the Metagame I think badly. Their effects scream dead draw and lets face it, what kind of situation would you be in where you even need to use any of their effects. It reminds me of the card “HERO Flash”, there is a 1 in 10,000 chance that you’d ever be able to use it. Also I don’t get the counter bit, what puts counters on them?

 

Also you’ve made a few mistakes in your OCG. First you just put DARK, you don’t need to put DARK-attribute. Second on your Wind Sorcerer guy you’ve put WATER instead of WIND on the first part of its effect. One part of their effect troubles me also, it’s the “cannot be attacked while there is a ????-attribute monster on your side of the field.” This means they can’t be attacked generally. If you meant it to meant that, then just change it saying it “cannot be selected as an attack target.” If not then you probably where going for “While there is a another face-up WIND monster on your side of the field, this card cannot be selected as an attack target.”

MY ENTRY: AZTECS

 

about the cards: These cards gain ATK points for each other aztec monster in the hand they also gain effects when their are a certain amount of Aztec monsters in hand. I think these cards can be quiet an effective set when used with the right cards they have good support and aren't op'd. Their effects can be activated without much trouble because the cards can be searched easily enough and these cards do have drawbacks like all cards but with the right cards could be used as an advantage

 

(note i have a full set on the way this is 5 of 17 so far hopefully will become set of bout 28cards)

Effect-This card gains 500 ATK points for each monster in your hand with "Aztec" in their name. When this card is destroyed as a result of battle randomly send 3 cards from your hand back to the deck. When there are 3 or more monsters with "Aztec" in their name in your hand you can add 1 more from your deck.

Effect-This card gains 450 ATK points for each monster in your hand with "Aztec" in their name. When this card is destroyed as a result of battle randomly send 2 cards from your hand back to the Deck. When this card is Summoned succesfully if you have 2 or more monsters with "Aztec" in their name in your hand inflict 1000 points of damage to your opponent.

Effect-This card gains 150 ATK points for each monster in your hand with "Aztec" in their name. When this card is destroyed as a result of battle randomly send 2 cards from your hand back to the Deck. Special Summon this card if it is sent to the Deck directly from the hand.

These 5 cards are apart of my Assassin Life Set. This Set is to basicly destroy your opponent's monster as fast and easy as possible.

Alright I've decided which Runaway cards I wanna post. Well for starters Runaway monsters are good for being able to special summon 2 or 3 times per turn.Here they are.

Effect: When this card destroys one of your opponent's monsters, you can special summon 1 monster from your graveyard to your side of the field. That monster cannot attack this turn.

Effect:When your opponent summons a monster you can special summon a "Runaway" monster from your deck,graveyard or hand to the field that has a level that's equal to or less then the monster your opponent summoned.

Effect:This card cannot be summoned or set. This card can only be special summoned when there are three "Runaway Demons' removed from play.This card gains 200 ATK and DEF for every "Runaway" monster in your graveyard. Tribute one face up "Runaway" monster on your side of the field to destroy one of your opponent's monsters.

(By the way, Runaway Demon's effect is that when its sent to the graveyard its removed from play)
