iKiller
Hey everyone! Today I made my first Fakemon, and I know it sucks :'( Comment on the outlining of the lightning arms, and I'll -Rep you, seriously, I know about that. How else to make it better? Thanks in advanced!

Jappio
Well before I go into critiquing or anything, I need to know, is this meant to be a sprite or not?
iKiller
Yes it is meant to be a sprite. Here it comes, I'd better get my note book to take down orders to make it better ;)
Jappio
This was hard to critique for one main reason. I could not get a perfectly clean version of the picture. Copying it gets me the black background, while doing "save as" gets me an even weirder result, it adding black and red boxes into the background. It doesn't even make sense to me as to how that can happen. Yet I will try my best to ignore the weird file issues I'm having, and try and just look at what I can tell was your doing. First off, the shading. Real nice and pretty, but not sprite like. Sprites use a palette. There is a limitation to the number of different colors and shades you can use. You though have many different colors, which is bad. Past that, the shading isn't right for another reason. It's very much just on an angle. On something round like your thing, the shading would have curves to it, not got in straight lines like it does. The arms and black things on the head aren't shaded, which is another problem. As for borders on the body, you have none on the bottom, which is bad. You also have it thick in a lot of areas. They also have a similar problem as your shading, too many different colors. The border should be pure black, a dark red in some areas, and them maybe another shade of red in the very bright spots. Lines used for face and eyes are the same. As for some side things. The color doesn't make much sense. Also you shift your hue too much, try keeping it just orange, instead of transitioning into yellow. The arms are out of places, almost like they are tacked on Most sprites also don't face directly towards the user like that. They often face to our left. The light source is also in the top right, not the bottom right. In Pokemon the light source and the head's direction are always to the top left corner and to our left. Normal sprites don't have to follow these rules though, but rarely is the light source coming from below them, since naturally there is no light illuminating upwards like that. I don't know if you messed up the uploading or something, but your sprite is hard to work with. It could also just be my computer though.
iKiller
Thanks Jappio! I'll take these things into condisderation when I'm making my next Fakemon, thanks for now though!
Shrekstasy
The bottom of the torso got lost in uploading? It looks incomplete... The sprite needs to face <- that way.The shading needs to face -> that way. The arms look like they are nailed on, remove some shading where it meets the torso.Use a pallete of less than 6 colors.Use Paint.Save as PNG. iKiller
Ahh! You commented about the arm bordering! Lol, I won't -Rep you, 'cause you helped out in other ways. I did use Paint, just thought that it would be better and easier to use Photoshop for the shading. Paint 100% now then!
