Targeting vs. Non-Targeting Spells/Traps

Recommended Posts

Well a little idea floated in my head while i was writing custom cards. But knowing me, i am a YGO Retard that misinterprets card effects whatnot, and needed outside evaluation on an imaginary card example:

LOLCRAB

Level 4

GENERIC ATTRIBUTE

ATK/generic

DEF/generic

[generic/effect] This card is unaffected by card effects that do not designate a target.

In the meta' date=' what kind of power would a card with this effect have in the meta if it was nested in a certain theme or was a full-fledged spashable ban/limit-waiting-to-happen card?

How much damage and losses could you avoid if a card could avoid effects that don't designate a target?

What if Dark Magician Girl had Demise, King Of Armageddon's ATK, DEF and effect instead of what she has now?[/b']

Target

From Yu-Gi-Oh!

When a card targets a monster, it has to specifically point it out. It means a player chooses which card they want to use the effect on. Dark Hole and Mirror Force do not target. Fissure doesn't target, either; rather, it automatically destroys the face-up monster with the lowest ATK on the opponent's side of the field when it resolves.

Change of Heart targets, as does Penguin Soldier's effect, Negate Attack, and all Equip Spell Cards.

An effect that targets usually goes like, "Select [number'] [target] on [player]'s side of the field [Effect]".

Example: "Select 1 Defense Position Monster on the field and destroy it." such as with Shield Crush.

Just thought to add that.

Biggest cards it avoids are Vortex and Smashing. It's decent enough.
