「tea.leaf」
ALWAYS CHECK THE LAST POST BEFORE POSTING TO STAY RELEVANT. The point of this thread is to let the subject evolve, much like the subject in a real conversation changes. Ideally, this thread would never die, since the communal flow of thought does not end. Let's try this out, eh? My instrument is viola. Honestly, I hate playing it most of the time, but on occasion it's quite relaxing. Once, during eighth grade, an instructor told me that the viola was some sort bastard grandchild of a cello and a violin, holding the defining characteristics of both, but ultimately a completely failure as a musical instrument for its lack of an aurally attractive identity. She said that was why the viola was a massively unpopular instrument, and also why it is the easiest; it's hard to tell if you were just playing bad or the instrument was bad. In any case, the violist would sit in the darkness of the orchestra while the violins and cello bask in the glory. The basses wouldn't care; they're too cool for it. How about you? Do you have an instrument? How about an anecdote to go along with it?
Bloodrun
I play the piano.I am not great, I do not suck, I merely play.I have no reasons for playing, I just play.I have no emotion when I play, as it is a time to release emotion, and repent upon memories forgotten, and amiss.I do not need applause, a Thank You will do. I always find it impossibly difficult to practice when I'm not in the mood. The viola has a sullen sound, even when playing the most joyous music. I don't get depressed or upset much, so I hardly ever want to play. I've always thought about playing for some cause, but, upon reflection, it doesn't seem to be such a good idea... I can actually only play when I am mad. Because while I am mad I am not bothered by if I make a mistake or if I am playing the right tempo. Piano is one of the most complex instruments to learn, because there is no right or wrong way to play it.
Zeroshot
I play a solid drumset. No joy, no sadnessJust beat after beatkeeping time.I used to play the guitar though.I loved the guitar. Guest PikaPerson01
I play the harmonica, and I sing. I've always been a fan of singing, because it's more your own. Some dude has a cold or a headache and he can probably still play the violin or the cello or the keyboard. Not so much with singing.

Obi-wan Cannoli
I also play the viola. I sit loud and proud in the front, however, I am the only one. I like being a violist. And the basses in the orchestra I'm in are also too cool to care. I disagree with your music instructor. I can't deny it not being popular but I disagree with what your instructor said. I can't play my viola correctly at home, If I try to practice I sound awful, in school though I am pretty decent.

I also have an amazing singing voice when I do get in synch.

Zeroshot
Eh, I practice scales over about 30 times, which took up a lot of time.I also would practice multi-tasking with a guitar, dear old mommy would let me watch TV for 2 hours or so as long as I was doing things on the guitar.Never really understood that concept, but whatev. Guest PikaPerson01
My friend asked me to take a piano class with her in college. I laughed. edit: Not to dismiss piano players who take pride in their work however. The fact that she expected me to pay X amount of money in tuition for a class not in my major and risk my GPA if I did it poorly especially knowing the class would just be the basics of piano, and I'd have to take it for many years rather then just 4 months to be even remotely decent. Megaworm
Super Mario 64 has a level with a giant fanged piano in it. I remember that Piano. When i was kicking it with Luigi and Salamence, i went to that Ghost Cage. I was afraid of that piano at first, but i felt we had a kindred Spirit. Salamence and Luigi told me not to trust the fanged piano because of how malicious and mean it could get, and how you must not jump on it, but ignored him. I jumped on the piano, and it loved me. Loved me deeper than an instrument ever could love a 75% female hermaphrodite. We developed feelings for eachother and had children in that ghost cage. We were wed in the room with the giant picture of a ghost, which ghosts emerged from. Big Boo gave us and our children his blessing, and we moved into the basement to raise our children. My beloved piano died soon after the Nintendo 64 became obsolete. Before anyone knew that we were in love. My heart has always been broken every since then...
