Zeroshot
As the time clocked towards 12' date=' i started counting down to when Bush was outta the White House and Barrack Hussein Obama was in. My class listened in on the Inauguration for a while and there were a few things we noticed. One of the songs was the same tune as "God save the Queen" I could picture Obama saying he was actually British and America's joining the UK. lol[b']-_-[/b] Obama stumbled on his lines while he he was being sworn in. most likely b/c he was scared he would be shot. I highly doubt he was worried about getting shot. You try speaking to that many people live, plus everyone watching on their telivisions. Frankly, it's not as stupid as when Al Gore misspelled potato. On a side note, that Biden fellow said his perfectly and he had some sort of a speaking disorder. (not exactly, he had a studdering problem as a child and young adult.) There was a lot of Religious references. For a country that tries so hard not to offend ppl, They sure had a lot of talk about the christian God. like in the swearing in ("so help me God") and saying the Our Father. Yes, the prayer was kind of insulting, but 'so help me God' was never intentional. It is rumored that George Washington said those words after he was 'sworn in' (whatever the equivilent back then was), and it developed over the next 43 presidents. Obama's Speech Longest speech ever' date='but im glad hes President, even though im british. It went on for at least 3 Hours. But anyways it was great. When he forgot the Line i was like why has he stopped? He was on a role[/quote'] Longest speech ever? If I recall, Harrison's speech was about 2 hours. Obama's speech was reletively short. Also, to show more of my showoffy knowledge, George Washington delivered the shortest in word length. Careless Whisper
I did learn one thing out of the entire innaugeration ceremony. That Elizebeth Alexander is a horrible poet. The poem she read out before his Oath of Office was read out too slowly and it did not make any sense at all. It was random.
CrabHelmet
The reason they played a song with the same tune as God Save the King/Queen is that one of those American songs - "America", maybe? - has exactly the same tune. You Americans aren't very imaginative. Also, if you watched it, it was clearly the justice guy swearing Obama in who screwed up and not Obama himself. As for longest speech ever: ...it was fifteen minutes. Do you have ADD or something? Also, wasn't it Dan Quayle who misspelled Potatoes as Potatos, not Al Gore? Quicksilver
I'm completely indifferent on the matter until I see some change. Everyone is praising Obama left right and center, and that's fine, but there is no correlation between him and Abraham Lincoln until we see how he will react and overcome problems. Don't just preach to me that things will change, I want to see how it will be done.
