Made with the usual kind of tut where the promised outcome looks amazing but it doesn't turn out quite so...

 

And another one' date=' where the tut actually gave a good outcome!

Tag 1:

Really not fond of this one. First thing that catches eye are the terrible colors; and the horrible contrast difference between render and bg. To enhance blending, make sure the contrast of the render and bg are equal. You can balance this with a simple Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer. Lighting sucks in this piece. No highlighting visible. Blending is pretty bad too; tbh, it look like you made a bg, stuck a render on it, and slapped a few effects on top. Splatter brushing just looks bad also.

 

Tag 2:

Way nicer than the first, although it is not short of problems =P The contrast on your C4Ds look bad. It could be because you set them to hard light; don't set it to hard light. Ruins contrast balancing. Flow is better in this tag, but could have been reinforced better; you'll get that through practice. Effects are nice, and a few bubble c4ds to enhance the mediocre blending on this tag would be good. Overall, nice work. Your best imo.

Thanks. But the C4D's on #2 are on Linear Dodge, not Hard Light.

@Death Bishop: Yeah, you are getting a tag. Unless you want a five minute job, don't rush it.

@haris: I don't usually give away my PSDs except to team members.. I'll have to think about this one =P

 

@Energycrave: Certainly.

 

Well, the tag really doesn't appeal to me much, to be honest. Color choice is way off, and a real put down for the whole tag. I'm impressed that you chose red and green (compliment colors) as your bases, but with this render, r+g combo isn't working. Try a darker red and a black as your color scheme. The flow is actually nice. You have evertything flowing into your focal, which is good. Depth is really bad however. I see a few blending and depth attempts, but it really doesn't change things; it still looks like a render pasted on. Try to place an object in front of the render, and work blend both at the same time, to add depth and blending. Lighting is very bad. looks like it's coming from inside his chest, and it's too dull. Get a 100 px soft brush, and brush white where you want your light source. Then apply the image, go Filter>Render>Lighting effects, and play around. Set that layer to lighten at 40% opacity. The render itself looks too dark also. And a bit of his ead is cut of on the top. It may be a depth adition attempt, idk, but it's not working.

 

Keep at it. You're going to get really good ;)

Dang.. so persuasive >.> Fine. I'll give whichever you want to you, but be warned.. I merge a lot of layers, and my PSD's are generally messy too. Which ones did you need?
