Indigo Firefly

Level 2

Earth/Insect/Tuner

ATK/DEF: 1000/800

When this card is Normal Summoned, for each Insect-Type monster in your Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 “Firefly Token” (Insect-Type/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Defense Position. By destroying 2 “Firefly Tokens”, you can Special Summon 1 Insect-Type monster from your Graveyard with 1600 ATK or less. The monster Special Summoned by this effect is destroyed during the End Phase. For each “Firefly Token” that was destroyed by this effect increase the level of this card by 1.

An inspiration based off Colonel Sanders "Nightsky Faeriefly" card in the syncho/tuner thread. It's a retrained version of his card.

Level 2

Earth/Insect/Tuner

When this card is Special Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Insect-Type monster with 1500 ATK or less from your Deck.

ATK/DEF: 1800/1600

When your opponent’s monster attacks when you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card from your hand and destroy the attacking monster.

Faerie Fencer Flies

Level 3

Wind/Insect/Effect

ATK/DEF: 1300/900

While you control this face-up card, all Insect-Type monsters you control gain 400 ATK. When this card destroys a monster by battle, you can tribute 1 Insect-Type monster you control to send the destroyed monster to the top of its owner’s Deck.

When a Insect-Type monster inflicts battle damage to your opponent, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If this card was Special Summoned by this effect, you can send 2 Insect-Type monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard. This card can attack your opponent directly if your opponent controls a Insect-Type monster.

ATK/DEF: 2100/1400

You can only control 1 “Tempting Dragonfly”. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing from play 1 Insect-Type monster in your Graveyard. When this card is Special Summoned, take control of 1 monster your opponent controls. When this card is removed from the field, return all monsters to their owner’s field.

I think this card is too powerful and needs to be changed to have her effect trigger when she is tribute summoned.

 

Macabre Syrphidae

Level 1

Dark/Insect/Effect

ATK/DEF: 200/200

During either players turn, you can discard this card to your Graveyard to remove from play up to 2 cards in either players Graveyard. If you removed from play 2 cards from your opponent’s Graveyard with this effect, remove this card from play.

You can Tribute Summon this card in Attack Position by Tributing 1 Insect-Type monster. Whenever you play a Spell Card during your opponent’s turn, you can return 1 card on the field to its owner’s hand.

While this card is face-up, all set Spell Cards you control are treated as having Spell Speed 2. When you or your opponent activates a set Spell Card, place 1 “Larva Token” in your Spell & Trap Card Zone as a continuous Spell Card.

ATK/DEF: 1000/1000

You can Special Summon this card from your hand or Graveyard by Tributing 1 “Larva Token”. When this card is Special Summoned by this effect, Special Summon 1 “Cocoon Token” (Insect-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 1000/DEF 1000) in face-up Attack Position to your opponent’s side of the field.

Yeah, I could have made Black Widow Archmage and Widow Baby Dark attributes but Darks have far too much support and are in general too powerful. I know this means I'll limit the effectiveness of these 2 cards since that can be Allure'd, etc... but I'm not sure if I want to change their attributes just yet.

 

Overall, I'm still working on this set and need to work out the balancing of the cards. There will be a few Synchro insects (including a /Buster card) and some support cards.

 

Oh yea, if you have suggestions for names please let me know. I really don't like the names I've picked out.

There all from magic the gathering.

 

The synergy between Indigo Firefly and Insect Mechanist is really strong. I was thinking about the card synergies and stumbled upon this combo.

 

Imagine having 4 Insect-Type monsters in your Graveyard 1 of them being Insect Mechanist. Now you have Indigo Firefly and Black Widow Archmage in your hand and nothing on your field. Normal Indigo Firefly get 4 tokens from it. Tribute 2 tokens, bumping Indigo Firefly to a level 4 tuner, and then SS Insect Mechanist. Mechanist's effect triggers allowing you to SS Pinch Hopper from your Deck. Tuner Insect Mechanist or Indigo Firefly and Pinch Hopper for a Level 6 or 8 Synchro Monster. Pinch Hopper's effect activates when it's sent to the Graveyard allowing you SS Black Widow Archmage from your hand. Now depending on what you did before you can tune Indigo Firefly with the 2 tokens for a Level 6 Synchro Monster. You've now got a Level 8 2800 insect monster that makes all your spell cards live cards during your opponents turn and 2 synchros.
