Mankind's downfall

Natural selection is the process by which favorable heritable traits become more common in successive generations of a population of reproducing organisms' date=' and unfavorable heritable traits become less common[/i']

In other words, organisms adapt and change to suit their environment, and that's the way it always has been until humans showed up.

We do the complete opposite; we change the environment to suit ourselves. Well, we would do that, wouldn't we? We're the most advanced race on the planet and you can't progress without development...

...but does this mean that humankind will never evolve?

Mankind will end up killing himself becuase mankind does not believe that mankind should exist in the world.

~OR~

Zombies will overthrow the world.

I personally do not believe in Evolution. Partly because the chances of it are too low, partly because the guy who popularized it, Charles Darwin, was a huge racist and pessimist.

And I don't like following those kinds of people

See: Bacteria. Guess what they do on a regular basis? Evolve. Huh.

Also: Zombies are never really a threat on a global level.

But this isn't a zombie thread so I won't go into that.

As bacteria changes, humans develope pharmasuticles (I totally shredded that word) to combat them.

Wait! Are you saying we're evolving to combat newly evolved viruses? Is that how it works?

Way to prove yourself wrong?

i dont believe such as humans evoulving thingy

in other words humans will never evoulve (thats my opinion)

Don't you evolve every time your body adapts to fight a virus?

I lol'd that people still don't believe in Evolution even aver the huge amounts of evidence that it exists. :)

Eh' date=' I won't start talking about Religion though because it's a touchy subject. However, I will say that the Human race doesn't need to evolve any futher.

Meh. I never did see why Christianity and evolution couldn't both be true.

In the future' date=' cockroaches will be the new masters of the world since they are adapted to survive in radioactive settings when humanity destroys itself in a nuclear war.

[/quote']

then we just need to have enough smaller scale nuclear wars for us to adapt to surviving in radioactive settings (remember there's radioactive fallout in the US right now which once we're exposed to too much over the years will lower our life expectancy)

Humankind is evolving. We have been evolving. The difference is; the most evolution that we have been able to study is psychological progression and technological progression. We don't literally grow fins or find a way to filter feed on air; we actually expand our on minds. An example of our evolution would be from using swords to using guns. Or from riding horse-back to driving cars.

We don't really change the environment as far as that goes anyway. :|

Our evolution is our mind.

If you think about it' date=' we haven't changed much in the last 10,000 years or so.

that depends. In what way are you referring to?

I think she was talking about our mentality and our personalities. Our natural habits and instincts.

In which case she is pretty much right.

If she was talking about physically... well... Idk.
