"I was excited. My parents had put me through a lot when I was a kid." Minawe continued, her position from looking at the rain never wavering. "They wanted me to be the best. To live up to all of their expectations."

~Flashback~

"Today is the day Minawe! The day you finally prove to mom and dad that you can be every good an exorsist as they were." The owner of said voice was a young girl of no older than 13 years of age. Her blond hair was cut short, just barely touching her shoulders and large, dark eyes. She wore a black skirt and a white button up t-shirt. This younger Minawe wasn't as busty as the Minawe we all know now. Infact, at the age of 13, unless she was wearing a skirt it was rather difficult to tell whether she was a boy or a girl.

"Minawe! Dear, it's time for you to get going!"

"Coming mom!" Minawe shouted back, before turning back to look at her reflection in the mirror. "This is it. I'll finally make them see that I'm worthy to be in this family." She nodded to herself then ran out of her room, and practically flew down the stairs. She dashed into the kitchen, snatching an apple from her father's hand, and repaying him with a kiss on the cheek. "Bye mom, dad, baby twerp." Minawe smiled at the baby in her mother's arms, who only replied with a very large spit bubble.

"Remember the training. Don't get anxious. Just stay calm and you'll go straight into A-Class." Minawe sighed a bit but smiled anyway. "Right, dad. I'll do just that. Don't worry, I wont be a disappointment."

"Good."

Minawe looked off to the side and bit into the apple to keep from saying anything else. She walked outside and mounted the bike, pedling off towards the Nirvana Ordinis.

~End Flashback~

Minawe paused in her story wondering why she felt so compelled to talk about it. Maybe she was trying to confince herself of the words she said earlier. That she should have left Rei in the park to die. That she was kidding herself when she saw the sad and lonely look in his eyes. That reminded her so much of herself. Before too much time had passed Minawe continued, "It was a long ride to the school. It gave me some time to think. I wanted to do good, but not just for my parents. For myself. To prove to me that I wasn't as hopeless as my parents seemed to believe. It was as if they didn't have full confidence in me, and I wanted to prove to myself more than anyone that they were wrong."

As Shota was still screaming in pain Tatsuya reached into his jacket and pulled out one of his sword handles. After Umbra taked the other heated metal from the fire Tatsuya put the handle into his mouth. It'd be something to bite on to help him deal with the pain. He closed his eyes as Umbra brought the hot metal closer to him but it didn't seem to help much. The searing pain forced his eyes wide open. He bit down hard on the sword handle but a small want to scream caused him to open his mouth just a little bit. The handle fell out of his mouth. He clenched his teeth and just tried to deal with the searing pain. He slammed the side of fist against the cave's stone wall. "This actually kind of hurts." His head was hanging down along with his hair that covered his eyes. His bloody smirk was the only thng that could be seen on his face.

Tsukihana listened attentively to every word Minawe spoke. Minawe's strive to become an amazing exorcist caused Tsukihana to remember about his past. However, he did not want to remember such a thing and so his focus was drawn back onto Minawe as she continued her story.

After awhile, the cauterization of Tatsuya's wound was complete. All three were able to endure the extreme agony without passing out, it was quite a sight for Umbra. Tatsuya had the most likely chance of not passing out but to see Shin and Shota endure the pain and not fell unconscious as well was extraordinary. "(Their willpower is amazing... With willpower, they can strive on even when faced with such a hellish pain...)" Umbra thought to himself. Taking a piece of dry cloth, Rikka wiped the sweat from their foreheads. "I'm glad... I'm glad that I won't be coming to any of your funerals..." Rikka spoke. Shota gave a weak smile. "You think I would die and leave you without an annoying partner...?" Shota joked. Rikka smiled back without saying anything. Their smiles clearly exchanged their thoughts without the use of words. Umbra stood and face the rain before looking up at the sky. "Such a gloomy night..." Umbra spoke before turning to the others.

"You three should rest as much as you can. You're in no position of doing anything. I can sense the presence of several demons nearby, but don't worry, their all weak demons." Umbra lied about the demons he sensed being weak. He knew that they are powerful, and he knew the exact identities of the demons as well. He sensed Corvus and Rednocte, two powerful demons. One uses magic, the other blades. Umbra had no choice but to confront them alone in order to protect the others. "Rikka, I don't need to tell you that you should stay and take care of those three. I'll be back shortly..." Umbra said before walking off in the rain.

Rikka looked at the three. "Well, take a long rest to recover your energy. Even though we've stopped you three from bleeding out, all of you still lost quite a bit of blood." Rikka spoke.

-Meanwhile-

"Brother, please, just let go, you don't have to fight anymore..." Azayl pleaded Kinsei. Even though was in serious pain, he continued to fight own through sheer willpower. "No... I can't die... There are still things I need to do..." Kinsei replied in a weak voice. A quarter of the spherical prison had already been dispelled and soon the entire spherical prison will be gone. When that happens, either Kinsei will die or Maka will see to it that he dies. Fortunately, Maka has yet to return. However, two unexpected guests arrived at the area. Azayl could sense two powerful demon souls. "I'll be back in a little bit Faust." Azayl said before standing up and walking outside of the cabin. "Well, well, looks like someone finally came out- Huh? Wait a minute, is that the Demon Prince of Wrath?" Rednocte asked. "Ahhh, the Demon Prince of Wrath himself is here ehh? And I thought it was only that fool Maka." Corvus said. "Who are you two and what do you want?" Azayl asked. "Well we're just here to look for the Bane of Purgatory your highness." Rednocte answered.

"It's not here." Azayl bluntly replied. "Tsk, tsk, why are you lying to us sire? We're here on behalf of Lord Satan himself to retrieve the Bane of Purgatory, and if you're standing in the way of our goal that means you're betraying Lord Satan. And all those who opposes Lord Satan must die." Corvus explained. "I already told you two, the Bane of Purgatory isn't-" Before Azayl could finish his statement, Rednocte slashed Azayl's left side, sending him rolling off to the side and away from the cabin. "Sorry but we don't have time for your bullsh*t excuses." Rednocte grinned.

((Hotaru, have Rei meet up with Umbra and have Maka arrived back at the cabin))

"When the exams finally did start, I was surprised to find out that I was doing quite well." Minawe sighed, "Too bad it was only half of the test. I aced the written part. Though I may not always behave like it, information comes relatively easy for me. So getting past the written part was a breeze. It was the second half that completely screwed me over."

~F-L-A-S-H-B-A-C-K~

"Ha! I totally whipped that test's keaster!" Minawe placed a finger to her chin with a thoughtful expression, "Well, I suppose that doesn't really make any sense since paper don't have keasters. But who cares!" Minawe turned her head hearing one of the other hopefuls yelled something about the scores for the test for the room she was in, was already up on the board. She made her way over to the bulliton board and found the list for the classroom she was in. It didn't take long for her to find her name, and when she did a large smile hit her face. "Alright! 2nd highest grade in the group!"

"Excuse me may I have everyone's attention." Minawe turned her head towards the voice. She tried to remember who the man was, he was the one who led her and a few other groups to their assigned classrooms. But Minawe wasn't quite sure if he had told them his name. Though she didn't know it at the time, this man was none other than Pro. Uyagiri. Her soon to be teacher in the Academy. "I will now escort the occupants of classroom, uh....What does this say? Ah, yes, class 4-B to the Obstical course."

Minawe's eyes became so wide that some of the others there moved back as if they expected her eyeballs to fall from their sockets. 'An obstical course? Please say it isn't so! No, I just have to keep my focus, and everything will be fine.....I hope.....'

Minawe was bumped in the shoulder by one of the kids walking pass her, though she was sure it wasn't intentional since she was standing in the way while everyone else was following the guy. She swallowed a rather tight lump in her throat and followed the crowd through many of the halls, turning twice as many corners. Before long the group was led to a large room, with no windows and thick walls. There was only one door, which Minawe assumed would lead them to their next test.

Prof. Uyagiri tapped on his clipboard as he read over the names. "We'll go by the number of your seating in the class. First 4 up and ready." He smiled at the 4 kids that lined up. They all looked rather nervous, and a few of them was already starting to turn a bit green. "Dont fret if you are the last to cross. Just worry about finishing, and go." The four ran off to start the course.

Before long the second group was taken through the door. "I'm up next..." Minawe mumbled just as he called her group up a few minutes later. On the other side of the door was a large arena with many different obsticles. There was even a tire obstacle, the one where you have to step in all of the middle rings. The guy who led them here did seem pretty old. He had to be at least like, 24. Extremely old. "And go."

Minawe started her jog, slowing down only when she came to the first obstical. It was a simple rope clime over the wooden wall. "A piece of cake." She said grabbing onto one of the four ropes, starting her climb.

~End~

"And that is when everything started to go wrong." Minawe said. She finally looked away from the rain and faced Tsukihana. "If you get tired of me talking just say so..."

~Meanwhil~

Shortly after Rei had departed Minawe and Tsukihana's company he found himself lost, and stuck in the rain. He took shelter under a thick tree, but it did little to stop the rain. He sighed staring up into the dark, cloudy sky. It was still sinking in what had happened. Was this really the end? It was all that dam* Tsukihana's fault. Or atleast that's what Rei tried to convince himself to believe. But no matter how many times he told himself that, Rei just couldn't get his mind to believe that. Rei knew it was his fault. All because of his stupid pride. Suddenly, Rei pushed himself off of the tree his ears picking up something other than rain and thunder. It was faint....But it sounded like a scream....It sounded familiar, and close.

"Shota?" Rei mumbled in confusion. He wasn't quite sure if it was him or not, and he couldn't pick up any type of scent due to the rain. He knew he couldn't go back to Minawe and Tsukihana, so he decided to take the chance and head towards the scream. There were two more screams by the same voice before going quiet. Rei was sure he was even more lost than before until he heard something to his right. He stopped walking and turned his head to the noise. A few seconds later he was able to make out a familiar looking ponytail. "Umbra? Is that you?"

~Meanwhile~

Once the rain had started Maka was quick to slip into another rift to keep from getting wet. She figured she should just head back to the cabin. She didn't want to get wet, so she appeared right inside of the cabin. The first thing she saw was Kensei becoming weaker and the Bane of Purgatory weaking it's protection over him. Maka smirked, "Finally, some type of progress. Soon you will be dead and the Pane of Purgatory will be back in Lord Saten's possession." She looked around a frown suddenly coming to her face, "Where is Azayl? Did that idiot leave you here alone?" She asked Kensei, before turning to the door which was slightly cracked open. She floated over and opened the door to a site that she was surprised by.

Maka exited the cabin completely tilting her head at the two demons. "Who the hell are you?" She noticed that Azayl was off to the side hurt...Again. She sighed, "Whenever you finish healing get back in the cabin. Dam* you are more trouble than you are worth." Maka then adressed the two obvious demons, "I don't know who you are, but just know that I am going to kill you because I am out here in the rain, and I hate getting wet."

The look on Tatsuya's face changed to a more serious one as Umbra left. "You're a horrible liar. You expect me to believe that you're going to even bother with three weak demons when we already know about two super strong demons that nearly killed us? If you die, I'll break into hell and give you an even more horrible death." It being his thoughts he didn't expect Umbra to hear a single word of what he just thought but it was what he was thinking nontheless.

He took off his jacket and then his tie and very bloody shirt. "Hey Rikka, I'm going to sleep. If you need to you should sleep too." He tossed his shirt near the fire. "If it dries maybe you can use it to fuel the fire or wring it out. At least it's something if we run out of wood. The wood outside would be too wet with that heavy rain." He put his jacket back on and laid down onto the stone floor using a rock as a pillow. It was hard but the pain from his now cauterized wound took his mind off of it. He closed his eyes and fell asleep...

10 years ago...I was 6, right? Well of course. I'm 16 now...just subtract 10. That's 6. I hated this time in my life...well I hated a lot of my childhood. Honestly, I hoped I could just forget it but I just don't seem to be able to...

Screams of a woman could be heard from the small apartment building. Nobody cared to answer to them though. It seemed to become a weekly ritual in the Takeda household. Mr. Takeda would come home drunk and angry and smack his wife around a few times. The apartment was worn down, filled with mold, and just plain smelled like crap. It was either because of the mold or the faulty plumbing that the the place smelled so damn bad.

The Takedas were once a very noble, rich, and strong family thanks to the power of two legendary katanas that was said to destroy any demon with a single cut. Such a family was brought down so low. The biggest of castles and now the smallest of apartments. Anybody who shared the name Takeda or is an ancestor to the family seemed to share the same horrible fate known as poverty which seemed to be the real curse placed on them by Satan. This scene wasn't too uncommon for any of them but it did seem like there bloodline was close to dying off so perhaps it was a good thing.

Mr. and Mrs. are both only 30 so still fairly young yet the obvious problems in their relationship have been going on for years. The once very beautiful blonde woman trhat since the beginning of her being beaten is now only mildly decent looking being beaten by the angry brown haired drunk with gold eyes that was dominant in the Takeda family. A young Tatsuya was in his room. He was trying to pretend to be sleeping but his shivering from fear thinking he might be next made it apparent he wasn't and the tears flowing out of his eyes didn't help the act.

My 10th birthday. I don't know whether or not that day was the best or worst of my life. The day that I became less than skum in the sewer. I became the weapon for scum in the sewer.

It was a cold Winter's night and the small apartment's lack of heating didn't help how cold Tatsuya felt in his heart. A birthday should be a joyous day for a young kid but unfortunately the day was also scheduled whith when Mr. Takeda would have another drunken fit. Tatsuya laid on his bed being covered by his blanket but it didn't help to much against any of the cold.

Tatsuya heard a bang on his door and soon slamming the door open was his father. He didn't get enough out of his mother and decided to go for the birthday boy. Although he may not have even remembered about the day. Five minutes of pure beating went by and Tatsuya just lay there. A bloody nose, a few bruises, and possibly a few things were broken. His was about to fade into unconciousness when suddenly a red light appeared above him. The light lowered down to right above his stomach and disappearred leaving only two swords to drop onto him. He weakly reached for one of the swords and if on instinct he activated it. A small and weak red energy came out of the sword. He felt different after activating his sword. He felt more energized and actually a bit warm.

I didn't hide the sword handles from my parents. They were my parents. It'd be hard to hide anything in the small apartment anyway. I showed them the next day. After my dad was a bit more sober of course. My dad had realized what they were right away and he immediatly called the Nirvana Ordis. I still hadn't realized what exactly was going on but even as a 10 year I could tell it was serious.

-The Week After-

I was kind of sad to hear the news but still very glad. I was sad that I was leaving my family but for that same reason I was glad. I was able to leave the abuse and sadness.

The young Tatsuya looked at his two parents with a blank stare. "I'm moving into Nirvana Ordis? The school?"

His mother nodded but his father actully replied. "Mhm. The thing is son is that those sword handles are legndary swords that were stolen from our family by Satan's army. Because of Satan it's the reason our family is in such horrible condition. Now that those swords have been returned the Takeda family can return to its rightful place. Tatsuya my son. You'll become an exorcist. They have a great instructor that will teach you how to fight and you'll be super strong and become an S-Rank exorcist for sure."

I was kind of happy. It was the first time he really treated me like a son. I still couldn't help to be sad though. Deep down I knew I was just a tool.

-Another Week After-

Tastsuya arrived at the gates to the Nirvana Ordis insitution. He looked around everywhere and was just amazed by it all. It was deifinitely a huge step up from the apartment. A few girls walking by seemed to giggle as they saw the young Tatsuya. A man with medium length brown hair and a lazy look on his face walked up to Tatsuya. "You're not bad with the ladies, are you?"

Tatsuya looked at the man with a confused look. "Who are you?"

The man crouched down to meet Tatsuya's eye level. He smiled At the boy. "I'm professor Uyagiri. You're instructor."

I got my own dorm room at Nirvana Ordinis and as long as I kept good grades I was able to stay in the room and the academy. My family sure as hell can't afford it anyway so I of course agreed. I began to study alot so that my grade would never falter.

Uyagiri had one of his rare serious faces. "You got too overconfident Tatsuya. Just because you passed the exam with the top score in your class doesn't mean you could beat me at half power. And while I'm at it you should stop picking fights with the other students. Ever since you came here you've been doing that and getting your ass kicked. See? Way too overconfident. But you really can take a beating."

They were in the Nirvana Ordinis training feild. Well technically Tatsuya was under it. He was lying in a large crater. Just by the looks of it you could tell he stood no chance. He was beaten very badly and it wouldn't be a surprise to hear that he had all the bones in his body broken. "Overconfident? Oh hell no. I know I can't beat you anytime soon." Tatsuya struggled but sat back up. He struggled even more to stand back up. He was gripping his two swords. "Ready for round two?"

Uyagiri laughed a bit. "Round 2? You barely survived round 1." He sighed. He knew Tatsuya would fight until he was dead. "Hey Tatsuya."

Tatsuya spit some blood out of his mouth. "What?"

"Why is it that you fight anyway? Is it so your family can regain the status it once had? Or do you really want to be a weapon for exorcists?"

Tatsuya laughed himself. "You actually think I'd fight for those scumbags? You actually think I'd be a weapon for anyone? Hell no. They can think whatever about me. I don't give a f*ck. And if you were wondering I don't fight for revenge against Satan and I'm sure as hell it's not just because I want to help people in need. I'm not that cliche. I fight because I have the power to fight. I fight because I have the power to fight against Satan. I fight because I have the power to help people in need. I fight because I just f*cking can!"

Uyagiri jumped down into the the crator and landed in front of Tatsuya. "Work on that potty mouth of yours."

Uyagiri held his hand out for Tatsuya to grab and help him out of the crator but Tatsuya smacked it away. "I don't need to be saved."

Uyagiri simply sighed before replying. "Work on that attitude Tatsuya. Sometimes you're going to need to be saved and you should just accept that fact." He grabbed onto Tatsuya's face and began to drag him out the crator even if Tatsuya was squirming and resisting so much.

Tsukihana continued to listen to Minawe's story, taking in every little detail. Then when Minawe stopped and face him, asking if he was tired of her talking, Tsukihana shook his head calmly. "No Minawe-chan, please, continue your story." Tsukihana simply replied. He wanted to know how Minawe met Rei in the first place.

At the other cave, everybody had went to sleep except for Rikka. She stayed awake, looking out at the rain. This was the first time Rikka experienced the fear of losing those who are close to her. She couldn't bare the thought of any of them dying. She knew all three of them plus Minawe and Rei ever since they were kids attending the Nirvana Ordinis Academy. They're her family, the only family she have. Rikka turned and looked to the three, now calmly and peacefully asleep. She then looked back into the rain. "Minawe, Rei, Tsukihana... Where are you guys...?" Rikka whispered. Soon Rikka began drifting in and out of sleep. She wanted to stay awake to protect the others in case any demon were to arrive here, but even a demon gets tired, and Rikka is no exception. "I-I have to stay... awake..." Rikka whispered to herself as her eyes began closing. Before she fell asleep, she saw two figures in the distance walking towards the cave. Then, Rikka fell asleep. "Boy, looks like they got it rough huh?" a familiar voice spoke. "I'm glad they're alive." another familiar voice said. Walking into the cave was none other than Prof. Uyagiri and Prof. Sugito. "Well of course they're alive. I'm their teacher after all." Uyagiri joked. Sugito then walked over to Rikka. "Rikka, Rikka, wake up." Sugito said.

Hearing a familiar voice brought Rikka out of her light slumber. "P-Prof. Sugito..." Rikka spoke in a faint voice. "Yes, and Prof. Uyagiri is here as well. We've caught news of Kinsei and the Bane of Purgatory being kept in the possession of powerful demons and so we took an exclusive train to Nichibotsu right away. A monk at the monastery told us you guys were going to the forest to rescue Kinsei and retrieve the Bane of Purgatory, and so we came looking for you. We're glad you're okay." Sugito explained. "I don't think those three are very okay." Uyagiri said, referring to the cauterization scars on Shin, Tatsuya, and Shota. "I can't even imagine the agony they must've put up with. Merely kids and they have to feel the pain of such a treatment." Uyagiri spoke, his smirk from before now replaced with a saddened frown. Rikka wiped her eyes and stood up. "Umbra managed to close their wounds and stop them from bleeding out, but they still lost quite an amount of blood and they're extremely weak. Can you heal them Prof. Uyagiri?" Rikka asked. Uyagiri nodded at Rikka before turning to face the three. "Don't worry, this will be a cinch. Holy Verse LXXXIX: Wakagaeri." Uyagiri said before snapping his fingers.

Suddenly, a brilliant white halo appeared beneath each of the three exorcists and green light began to rejuvenate the three. "This Verse is a very powerful healing verse that will instant rejuvenate a person, making them feel like new. Are you hurt Rikka? Do you need me to heal you too?" Uyagiri asked. "No I'm fine, just a little tired..." Rikka replied. Shin's eyes began to move under his eyelids and soon he gradually opened his eyes. "Huh...? This light... I'm feeling so... renewed..." Shin muttered before sitting up. Shin then saw Uyagiri and Sugito. "Prof. Uyagiri and Prof. Sugito? What are you two doing here?" Shin asked. "Heya Shin, just decided to take a little stroll is all." Uyagiri joked. "We're here to help rescue Kinsei and retrieve the Bane of Purgatory." Sugito told Shin. "I see... Well, I'm glad to see you two. I don't know if we could finish this mission alone." Shin said. "It's still your mission. We're just here to make sure you don't die on us." Uyagiri replied. Shota then awoke as well. "Huh? What are you two doing here?" Shota asked. "We prefer not to have to keep repeating answers. Just know that you're safe now and fully healed." Uyagiri replied to Shota.

Elsewhere in the rain, Umbra walked through the forest, heading towards the position of Corvus and Rednocte. Suddenly, he sensed one more powerful soul, and this soul is even more powerful than the other two souls. "This soul I sensed... It can only be that of a Demon Lord... If I were to face that Demon Lord alone, there is no doubt that I will die." Umbra spoke. Suddenly, Umbra heard a familiar voice asking if it was him. Umbra turned around to see Rei. "Rei... What are you doing out here? Shouldn't you be accompanying Minawe?" Rei asked. "Also, where is Tsukihana?" Umbra added.

-Meanwhile-

"Oh well look who finally showed their face, it's the Demon Lord." Rednocte spoke with a bloodthirsty grin on his face. Corvus gave a slight chuckled before rotating his staff in a circle. "Demon Lord Maka, I'm glad we're finally able to meet face to face, well actually, face to mask is the more appropriate tone. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Corvus and this here is my colleague Rednocte. We're here to simply collect the Bane of Purgatory and bring it back to Lord Satan. We have no intentions of quarreling with you, so if you would be so kind as to stand aside." Corvus spoke as he moved his hand in a "shooing" motion as how you would shoo a dog away. "So this is Demon Lord Maka huh? Demon Lord Zubaba talks a lot about you, you know? What did he say again? Something about you being a miserable excuse for a demon? And that you should just be a human instead? Hehehehe, how rich." Rednocte laughed.

Tatsuya had woken up at about the same time as Shin. He just decided to stay quiet the whole time. "Bastard..." He didn't like the idea of being helped or saved. especially if he didn't need it. He just needed to sleep and he'd be fine. He looked at his shirt next to the fire. It hadn't dried much and since it was still there he must not have been asleep for long. "So you didn't wash my shirt Rikka?" He sighed. "What good are you for then? I'm going to have to go into the rain with just my jacket."

He stood back up to face the rest of the awakening group and their teachers. "No matter. It couldn't have been too long and since I'm up and feeling great I'm going back to the fight. Like hell I'm going to let Umbra get in on some action without me again." He began to walk towards to entrance to the cave. Tatsuya didn't care if anybody followed him or not.

Minawe nodded and contined her story. "Where was I....Oh, yeah. The obstical course..."

~Flashback~

Minawe watched as the other students easily scaled the wall, and go over leaving her by herself. It seemed easy enough. Minawe tightened her grip on the rope, and placed one foot on the wall, and started to climb up. Half way up her foot suddenly broke through the wall and into the otherside. A sweatdrop appeared on the back of her head. On the other side of the wall one of students was still coming down, and when Minawe's foot went through the surprisingly hollow wooden wall, she kicked him in the face knocking him out.

Prof. Uyagiri winced as the boy hit the ground hard. "Well, thats one down. Not in the way that I expected though..."

Minawe tried pulling her foot out, but ancoring her other foot on the wooden wall, and using it too push off. Sadly her other foot suddenly went through the wall as well. "Why is this happening to me?" She whined now stuck in the wall. It took a bit of manouvering before she had one of her feet out, and finally her other foot. She slid back down to the bottom and looked at the wall that now had two holes in them. Instead of risking putting even more holes into the obstical she simply walked around it, and then grinned, "Oh yeah! One obstical down!"

Prof. Uyagiri sweatdropped and shook his head, "She seems oftly proud of cheating an obstical." He said while writing something down by her name.

Minawe continued on the obstical course, and seemingly hadn't seen the poor guy she had kicked into unconsciousness. It seemed like Minawe just couldn't catch a break on the obstical courses. On the monkey bars, one of them actually broke off on one side causing her to slip off and fall onto the ground, right on her butt. Minawe sighed and just walked to the next obstical course. Then on the tire run, as she was going through it her foot got caught in one of the tires and she fell forward, flinging the tire over her head and it collided with another student. She groaned and sat up, "M-man this course i-is harder than I thought."

Then she got to another more troublesome obstacle. There were dozens of tall poles which the students were supposed to balance on and get across. Prof. Uyagiri looked at Minawe with an almost terrified expression. Minawe took a deep breath and stepped onto one, then another, and then another. Uyagiri released his held breath and looked down to make anothe note when, "AHHHHHHHH!!!" He looked up and deadpanned. Minawe fell and was all twisted up at the bottom as her body was positioned in a weird way around the poles.

Luckily afte that the course was coming to an end, and she had managed not to knock out the last student, only because he had finished before Minawe could catch up. "Um, good job kids. You can head back inside now." Uygagiri said as her and the only other conscous student walked back into the room. "Well, that went ok." She grinned scratching behnd her head.

~End~

~Meanwhile~

Rei looked down his eyes reflecting both sadness and betrayle. Even though his face didn't change every emotion he was feeling was ever present in his ruby red eyes. "We were attacked....And got seperated when the rain started... " He said, not having the stomach to tell him what really happened before the storm. "What about you?" Rei was almost desperate to change the subject, but he hid it well, attempting to shrug away his emotions. "Shouldn't you be with the others?"

Maka tilted her head to the side, "You are here....To take away my mission? Sorry, but this is my prize, and there is no way I'm going to let you two idiots take the credit for all the work I and that idiot down there did." The second Corvus made the "shooing" motion and mention Zubaba, Maka growled lowly, "How dare that little insect speak about me like that?! I will wring his neck the next time I see him!" She was obviously pissed by the information, "But until then I advise you two to leave, and this will be your only warning. The vexing little pest, Zubaba, will have his in due time. As for you two, I am not handing over Faust or the sword. So just crawl back into whatever hole you came from."

((Hotaru, you can finish your flashback in the next post))

Hearing his comment, Rikka got a bit irritated. "Shut up before you get hit by my ice fist again." Rikka warned. After that, Rikka's irritation was replaced with a smile of relief. "I'm glad you're okay Tatsuya." Rikka told him. Rikka turned to Shin and Shota as well, retaining the same smile. "I'm glad you two are okay as well, and I'm glad my annoying partner is still alive." Rikka said. Shota gave a wide grin and placed both of his hands behind his head. "What can I say, you won't get rid of me that easily." Shota replied. As Tatsuya walked towards the outside, Uyagiri stopped him by placing his hand onto Tatsuya's head, like he used to do when Tatsuya was a child. "You still need to work on that attitude of yours ya know? Also, even a powerful exorcist like yourself needs help. C'mon kid let's go." Uyagiri said with a smirk before messing up Tatsuya's hair. Uyagiri then walked with Tatsuya outside, followed by Sugito and the others.

"So, what's the current situation?" Uyagiri asked a little after they left the cave. "Well, the only thing we know is that Kinsei and the Bane of Purgatory is located somewhere in this forest. Tsukihana, Minawe, and Rei separated from the team earlier today to go search for Kinsei on the western side of the forest." Shin explained. "Umbra also left a little bit ago to look for some demons. He told us that the demons were weak, but we knew he was lying. He'll be needing our help. He hasn't gone far so hopefully we'll be able to find him." Rikka added. "Alright then, but first, we need to look for Tsukihana and Minawe." Sugito told the group. "And I don't wanna here any complaints Tatsuya. You'll get your chance of fighting soon enough, right now the most important thing is regrouping." Uyagiri said.

Elsewhere, after Rei finished explaining his side of things and asked Umbra about his side of things, Umbra crossed his arms and closed his eyes before replying to Rei. "It's not because we're both demons..." Umbra began. "Even an observant human can tell that you're lying by the look in your eyes. Did you have an argument with Minawe, no, rather you did something towards Tsukihana then Minawe started an argument with you, which ended up with you separating from her." Umbra said. "I know it's not my place to say this, but you allowed your pride and resentment for Tsukihana to get in the way of your better judgement, and that is not something you want. Demons and humans aren't too different when it comes to emotions. However, in a demon, emotions are amplified, both good and bad. You allowed your negative emotions to get the better of you. Tsukihana isn't your enemy, he's your comrade, and even though I don't know him personally, I know that he has never once felt any hatred for you. Maybe it's time for you to let go of your hate. Trust me, you'll feel lighter..." Umbra explained before walking off.

"I'm done with my speech, it's up to you to heed my advice or not..." Umbra said as he continued to walk off.

((Hotaru, continue to have Rei going with Umbra))

-Meanwhile-

"Sorry, but we can't let you return to Lord Satan with the Bane of Purgatory. Don't be so greedy, you're already a Demon Lord, we just want to get on Lord Satan's good side is all." Rednocte said with his usual grin. "Now, I'm afraid we will have to attack you if you don't stand aside Demon Lord Maka." Corvus warned as he readied his staff for using his curses. Suddenly, Azayl slowly stood up from the ground before looking at Corvus and Rednocte. "I suggest you go away or else I may not be able to control my Ark, and there is no telling what I will do once I have 'Awakened'." Azayl warned the two with false intimidation. He did not want to see anymore bloodshed, and if Azayl has to utilize his powers as a way of instilling fear into the two to get them to leave, then he will not hesitate. However, Rednocte wasn't going to be tricked that easily. In an instant, Azayl's head was decapitated, and his body fell to the floor motionless. Soon a puddle of blood was formed, and with the rain pouring down restlessly, the blood puddle soon extended into different directions. "That'll keep him down for awhile. We don't want him using his Ark." Corvus said.

"Now, we'll give you one final warning to stand aside and let us proceed with what we came here to do, or else you'll be sharing the same fate as the prince, and unlike him, your head won't be growing back." Corvus warned.

Tatsuya didn't pay any mind to Rikka's threat. He knew that earlier attack was just as cheap of a shot as any of Rednocte's and in a serious fight he'd slaughter her. Hell he'd go easy and use no weapons. She could bring a friend. That aside Tatsuya was about to walk out of the cave when he felt a hand on his head. He spit out the last of the blood in his mouth as Uyigari finished what he had to say to him. "Do whatever you guys want to the other two." He placed his own hand on his shoulder. He still had a scar there from the stab wound. "I don't care what you do to those other two demons but that d*ck Rednocte is mine."

Minawe sighed, "I completely botched the test. I won my battle only by tripping and headbutting the guy in the face, and my exorsism.....It took me over half an hour to complete. Only because I couldn't remember the words." She said shaking her head at the memory, "I knew there was no way I was getting into the A-Class of exorsist. I would be lucky if I made it at all. It waited to see my results, but I wasn't very anxious to see that I wouldn't be on the list. When I saw my name I was surprised, happy, and very much scared. I made it on the D-Rank list, and to add insult to injury I was all the way at the bottom, with one of the lowest scores. You can imagine I wasn't very eager to get home."

~Flashback~

The shine of the morning was leaving all too quickly, leaving only the darkness of night by the time Minawe was in her way home. She slowly pettled her bike, one hand on the handle bars and the other holding a small card that held her name, picture and the rank that she was in. Minawe wanted to throw it behind her, or chuck it into some fire. Minawe may even follow it into the incinerator. Bette that then having to see the disappointment on her parents faces when they see the card. Because she wasn't paying attention to where she was going, she had hit a rock, her front wheel suddenly stoping and her whole bike flipping over. She screamed in surprise and soon found herself undernieth a very much destroied bike.

"O-ow. Wh-what the-Why was that rock right there!?" She yelled pushing her bike off of her and staring angrily at the rock that made her fall, not only that but her leg got scraped up pretty bad and was now bleeding a bit. She looked back at her bike and saw that the chain had snapped. "Oh, of course you brake when i'm 3 MILES FROM MY HOUSE!" Minawe kicked her bike, which didn't turn out to be a very bright idea since she ended up hurting her foot. "Ugh, what else could possibly go wrong now?"

And then.....It rained. If it was possible to be steaming angry, then Minawe would have probably be literally steaming.

".....You know what....I'm not even going to say ANYTHING!" She shoved her academy card in her pocket, and picked up her bike to push it the rest of the way. The rain only fueled her terrible mood, and seemed to be forshadowing a rather dark day in the Kanoya family. Of course she would be the first one to in 6 generations to get in the lowest rank, and then only just BARELY make it into the listings. It was sad to saw the least.

By the time she walked half of the distance she was already soaking wet. Every step she took made a 'Squish' sound, and her clothes felt like 10 tons of added weight on her. Not only that but in order to shorten her walk she had cut through the park, and the rain was making the dirt so soft, it was hard to push the bike through the mud. It kept getting stuck. "Stupid bike. You are more trouble than you are worth." She mutter angrily fighting with it to get it unstuck once again. "This is hopeless." She sighed. Minawe was close to just leaving the bike behind. She'd come back for it in the morning. It was when she looked up in the direction she was going did something catch her attention. There was something on the ground. It wasn't there a few moments ago.

"What is that?" She mumbled walking forward, her bike forgotten. As she got closer the first thing she noticed was the silver hair, which was saying something since there was a rather large staff lodged into the person's chest. "H-hey! Guy are you alright!?" She ran the rest of the way falling by his side. "Are you still alive?!" She had to yell so that her voice could be heard over the pounding rain. "Can you hear me!!?"

Minawe looked down sadly. "W-why....Are you s-so...Loud?" The strained whispered made Minawe's head snap back up in surprise, only to meet a pair of deep red eyes. "You're alive!? How is that possible? You have a staff in your heart!"

"L-look you idiot....I-i want t-to die in...Peace....J-just leave.."

Minawe tilted her head in confusion sadness shining through her dark eyes. "Why would you want to die? You would make a lot of people sad if you died."

The silver haired guy made a noice between a laugh and a painful sounding wheeze. "I-it's better...I-f I die....I h-have nothing h-here.....Or ba-back home-" A terrible coughing fit inturrupted him, blood gushing out of his mouth, only to be washed away by the rain in a steady stream of red. "N-no one....W-would be s-sad..."

"That's not true." She whispered, "I would be sad."

This silenced the man and Minawe could see the emotions swirling through his ruby red eyes. There was so much sadness, hoplessness, and the sense that he didn't belong anywhere. She got the feeling that he didn't have a purpose in his life. That he was just living just to live. He was waiting for this moment. When he would die. The thing that made Minawe start crying was the intense lonliness coming from him. She saw that he was so very alone, probably hs whole life, and he had excepted his lonliness. He excepted that when he finally did die he would be alone.

"I-isn't there way I could help?" Minawe asked quickly as she saw his eyes starting to fade. "Please! Tell me if I can help!" She was frantic. She had to help him, she didn't want him to die. Minawe, for the first time, met someone who understood the feeling of being alone that she did. Her parents saw her, but never noticed her. She was surrounded by them everyday, but she always felt alone. This guy understood her lonliness. Her pain. Something then struck her, "W-wait...You're a demon right? You have to be! No human would have survived a wound like that."

"S-so what..." His voice was fading. Minawe had to lean down to his lips to hear him.

"Make a contract with me! I-if you you do then you can feed off my soul to heal yourself right?" Minawe said. "You're......C-c-crazy.."

"And you're dying! Just make the dam* contract!" Minawe yelled. The guy closed his eyes, and Minawe's own widened. "M-mister?...Mister....Mister, wake up! Come on, wake up! Don't die....Please don't die...." A sudden flash of light appeared, and when Minawe could see there was a piece of paper floating in the air with lightening sparks coming in and out of sight. "Wh-what...."

"C-con....Tract..." The guy wheezed more blood coming out of his mouth. "Temp......Temporary....Until healed..." Minawe nodded quickly. "Y-your name.....H-here....In b-blood.." Minawe groaned, she didn't have anything sharp and her leg wound had already clotted up. She took a deep breath and bit into her thumb. It was much harder than those stupid tv shows made you think. Minawe finally bit deep enough to get enough blood and signed her name. "N-now....M-m-me.." Minawe grabbed his hand and put his fingers in his blood. There was more than enough. "How do you spell it!"

"R......E.......I..."

Minawe smiled, "Got it!" The second she finished his name the contact vanished and Rei's body started disappearing. Minawe didn't know what was going on, and she started freaking out. Suddenly a sharp and sudden pain exploded in her chest. As if someone was repeadedly stabbing a knife into her heart. She opened her mouth to scream but only blood came out. There was so much pain, and all of it wasn't physical. It was as if she could feel Rei's emotional pain as well. Minawe bent over clutching her chest, before falling over to her side.

'Hold on Minawe....You'll be alright... It was the last thing she heard before the pain and darkness over took her.

When Minawe woke she found herself in the hospital hooked up to moniters, and very much alone. Or so she thought. "You are an idiot you know that right?" She turned her head and started to focus on the person in the corner. It was that guy from the park. He looked much better now without that staff going through his chest. "Y-you're alright..."

"Idiot...You should have been more concerned for yourself. You could have died."

"But I didn't....And you didn't. So it's all fine." She noticed him looking on the chair to his left. Minawe turned her head and saw her clothes along with her Academy card sitting on the chair. "You're an exorsist."

"Just barely..."

"Your parents came by....They didn't seem very happy when they saw the card. The man, was particularly furious. That was 4 days ago....He hadn't been back since." Minawe closed her eyes and sighed. "I'm not surprised.....So...Will you be leaving now?" Rei considered the idea and after a while he snapped his fingers and once again another floating contract appeared. "No...Actually, I was thinking on staying a bit longer. If you don't mind that is."

Minawe looked at him in surprise and then grinned, "That'd be cool. By the way, my name is Minawe Kanoya. D-Rank exorsist at Nirvana Ordinis Academy."

"My name is Rei, and I'm a lightening demon." Minawe smiled, and closed her eyes. Guess that day wasn't a total waste. She got to meet Rei, and first real friend.

~End~

Minawe closed her eyes and whispered to herself, "I can't believe I said those things to him when I didn't mean them...." After that she didn't say another word.
~Meanwhile~

Rei avoided meeting eyes with Umbra. He was disturbed that he was able to read him so clearly. Rei was normally so good with hiding his true feelings, but Umbra was able to read him like an open book. And though he hated to admit it, he made some good points. Why did he dislike Tsukihana so much? He remembered when he first arrived at the academy. Rei didn't hold this feeling towards him at the time. In fact he was indifferent to the exorsist. Rei glanced up to see Umbra walking away and began following him. He might as well, he had nothing better to do. While walking Rei tried to find out why he hated Tsukihana. There had to be a reason, it couldn't have just appeared out of no where.

Maka threw her head back and began laughing. She kicked her feet rapidly in her fit of laughter. "You kill me? That's laughable!" She managed out while still laughing as though she had heard a very funny joke. Which to her it was. "I am just getting all kinds of entertainmnt on the mission. First the monks, then Faust, then three exorsist and now two idiot demons who actually believe that they can defete a demon lord. I suppose if it was Zubaba you may fair a chance. Here, in fair sport I'll give you a handicap and use only one hand." Maka said now laying on her scythe, on her side. "So who will start? Shall I?" Maka was in front of them in an instant swinging her scythe in a wide arc, and then heading straight for Rednocte with an over head strike. One would think using one hand to weild a weapon that was twice as large as you were, was suicidal, but even using one hand her speed and power was ferocious.

Uyagiri smiled at Tatsuya hearing him saying that Rednocte is his. "Oh don't worry about that, I know firsthand how stubborn you can be once you set your sights on an enemy. We'll stay outta your way." Uyagiri replied. "Now, about the original mission we assigned to you guys. How did it went?" Sugito asked. "Turns out the disappearances were caused by a plant demon named Arboros. He wanted to lure out Tenzaimo to get the Bane of Purgatory, but once he did get it, the Bane of Purgatory refused him as its master and killed him." Rikka explained. "I see... All of these problems, caused by a single sword." Sugito said. "Also, we were somehow transported to an alternate dimension while we were in our sleep. There we met alternate versions of people in this world, and we managed to get back by defeating an alternate version of Kinsei calling himself Faust." Shota added. "Boy, you guys sure have a knack of getting yourselves into trouble huh? By the way, how was my alternate?" Uyagiri asked curiously.

"He was pretty much you except wearing black." Shin replied. "Ahh, so he still retains all of my charms, good to know." Uyagiri said. "He said the exact same thing too." Shin added. Not long later, they saw faint smoke in the distance. "There's a fire there. Minawe, Rei, and Tsukihana must be there." Shin said. Walking towards the smoke, the group soon found a cave, and inside was Minawe and Tsukihana just sitting there. "Minawe, Tsukihana!" Shin yelled to them. Tsukihana's eyes widened as he quickly turned to the voice. Tsukihana had a surprised look on his face seeing the others along with Uyagiri and Sugito. "T-The professors are here? Why?" Tsukihana asked, standing up from the rock. "Long story, right now we have some problems to deal with." Uyagiri replied. "Oh yeah, you guys look like you could use a good healing. Holy Verse LXXXIX: Wakagaeri." Uyagiri said as he used the same verse from before to rejuvenate Tsukihana and Minawe.

"Hey Minawe, where's Rei?" Shin asked. "Rei's gone out for a little bit, we'll look for him on our way to find Kinsei." Tsukihana quickly answered for Minawe. Tsukihana then looked at Minawe with a reassuring smile. Shota then began walking away from the cave followed by the others. "Alright, let's finish this mission and go home!" Shota exclaimed.

-Meanwhile-

While they continued walking, Umbra began to speak again. "We're getting closer to the soul signatures I sensed. They're three demons. Hopefully you're ready to battle." Umbra said. Soon, the two entered into a large forest clearing where they saw the three demons Umbra was speaking about. Rednocte turned around to see the two familiar faces. "Oh, well what do we have here? It's the demon boy with silver hair and the demon with the ponytail. I hope you haven't forgotten who I am." Rednocte said with his grin. "Rednocte... How are you still alive?" Umbra asked. "Hehehe, well, a part of me survived the battle we had, and Corvus here managed to reproduce the cells in my body to create a new me, a stronger me." Rednocte explained. "I'll have to pay you two back for almost killing me." Rednocte said. "The silver-haired demon boy. I know you, you were on the train." Corvus said.

"We're here to kill you and rescue Kinsei, along with retrieving the Bane of Purgatory." Umbra said. "Kinsei huh? So that's what he calls himself here in the human world..." Corvus whispered to himself. "I'm sorry, but it looks like we all want a similar object, the Bane of Purgatory. Only one of our groups can get it, and I'm afraid we'll be taking the sword." Corvus said. Umbra unsheathed his sword and pointed towards Corvus and Rednocte. "I'm afraid you've mistaken, we'll be the ones to take the Bane of Purgatory." Umbra replied. "Finally, we can get down to the slaughter." Rednocte said as a katana blade extended from his right wrist. Suddenly, Rednocte turned around to see Kinsei, off in the distance, running off with the Bane of Purgatory. "What! That boy's trying to make a run for it!" Corvus yelled. "Rednocte, handle these weaklings, I'll go after the Bane of Purgatory." Corvus commanded before getting onto his staff and flying off.

Umbra turned his head back at Rei. "Rei, you try and catch up with Kinsei to help him out. I'll deal with Rednocte and the Demon Lord over there." Umbra told him. After Rei had left, Umbra and Rednocte were face to face with their weapons ready to fight. "Well now, let's get started shall we." Rednocte said before licking his lips.

Running through the forest hastily while holding onto the Bane of Purgatory was Kinsei. The black flames that are protecting Kinsei are still active, and Kinsei is merely using willpower and determination to push himself onward. "(I have to keep the Bane of Purgatory from getting into the wrong hands. I can't die yet...)" an extremely tired and injured Kinsei thought to himself as he continued to run.

((Hotaru, have Maka go after Kinsei as well))

Minawe had made a sound or moved since finishing her story. Telling the story didn't really make her feel any better though, only guiltier for saying that she should have left him to die. Even when the others found them, bringing Prof. Uyagiri and Sugito, she hadn't made a sound. Then Shin asked where Rei was and she winced, feeling another stabbing pain go through her chest. Much like when they first met in the park. Thankfully, Tsukihana spoke for her and them smiled at her, attempting to give whatever comfort he could manage. Minawe didn't smile back, however, and instead stood slowly and followed everyone else. Minawe stayed at the back of the group looking down at the ground, using her blond bangs as a sheild for her eyes. "I wish I could just disappear." She whispered to herself choking back a sob.

~Meanwhile~

"Ugh, what now!? Why are all these people inturrupting?" Maka complained like a little child who didn't get their way. "I'm tired of all this inturruptions!" She continued to whine. Rei was so much in his thoughts he hadn't realized Umbra stopped until he bumped into him. Rei knew he looked lost. He felt lost. He was hardly registering much of what was going on. The oly thing on his mind was finding out the root of all his resentment for Tsukihana. Rei knew he was close to finding it. He just needed to search deeper inside of himself. The reason was right there in his grasps.

Corvus' yell got everyone's attention and they all looked at Kensei who was in fact making a run for it. "Why that little sneak!" Maka exclaimed, "There is no way he is getting away from me!" She yelled before going after him almost at the same time as Corvus. Maka was confused. Kensei shouldn't have been able to run, let alone stand with her posion rushing through him. He should have been crawling, if that! She looked to her side and saw Corvus was also heading towards Kensei, "Great, that low life is here too."

Hearing Umbra telling him to go after Kensei, Rei nodded dumbly, and chased after the three. Rei needed to focus on what was going on now. He needed to concentrait. Rei managed to pull together enough energy to create his chakrams.....

"Damn*t, focus!" Rei cursed. He then combined the two, creating one disk and then jumped onto it. Thanks to that, he was able to catch up to the other to fairly quickly, but he was still behind. "Kensei! Hold on!" Rei shouted hoping he would hear him. Maka looked back and frowned, "Great, and the outcast returns. I see you little partner Minawe isn't with you. Have a little spat?" She teased.

Rei glared at Maka and in a split second a large lightening bolt shot down from the sky, hitting the tree right next too Maka. She laughed, "Did I strike a nerve?"

Tatsuya was actually disappointed to have found them instead. It was just more people that'd get in the way of his fight. He didn't give a crap and just looked outside at the pouring rain. He was able to catch Shin ask Minawe where Rei was. He looked back at the group. He hadn't even noticed that he wasn't there. He usually just stands in the background so he would be easily forgotten or missed. After hearing what Tsukihana said he looked at Minawe who was obviously very upset.

He walked over to Minawe but stayed silent for a second. The look on his face changed to his completely pissed off look. He lifted his arm up and hit the top of her head. He tried to do it light enough so that it wouldn't cause any major brain damage or knock her out but still hard enough that it hurt. Assuming Tatsuya could actually control hs strength in the first place that is. He immediatly grabbed her collar and pulled her in to look at him. "What the hell is wrong with you? You! You're Minawe! You're the girl that no matter what always seems to be in the greatest f*cking mood ever. Did you get into a fight with your boyfriend or something and now you're all depressed? Geez. Now you're even worse than when you're electrocuting me."

CHAPTER 11: CROSSING OF BLADES BENEATH THE RAIN - TATSUYA VS REDNOCTE
After reuniting with Minawe and Tsukihana, Tatsuya confronted Minawe about her fight with Rei; being rather harsh but true with his words. Once the situation was taken care of, the team made their way to the forest clearing where a familiar enemy awaits. With the battlefield set, the battle between Tatsuya and Rednocte begins!
Everybody turned to look at Tatsuya in surprised when he smacked Minawe on top of her head. Tatsuya then grabbed Minawe by her collar and began yelling at her about if she had gotten into a fight with her "boyfriend" to which everybody understood that Tatsuya meant Rei. Uyagiri walked over and smacked Tatsuya upside his head, forcing him to let go of Minawe. "That's enough out of you Tatsuya." Uyagiri said with a serious face. "Are you alright Minawe-chan?" Tsukihana asked worryingly. "Minawe, is that true? You and Rei got into a fight and he left? That's why he's not with you guys?" Shin asked with concern. "I'm afraid that's the situation... Though I do not condole Tatsuya hitting Minawe just now, I do partially agree with what he's saying." Tsukihana said before facing Minawe. "Minawe-chan, right now you can't let sorrow overtake you. Rei won't be happy to see you sad. We'll find him and we sort things out." Tsukihana told her.

"As much as I hate to interrupt in conversations, I sense power demon souls nearby, we should get going." Uyagiri said before walking off. Sugito, Shota, and Rikka followed soon after. Shin's face change from a saddened look to a determined one as he turned around and follow the rest of the group as well. Tsukihana placed one hand on Minawe's shoulder. "Let's go find Rei." Tsukihana told her before following the others.

Soon, the group arrived at the large forest clearing and instantly they saw Umbra and Rednocte. "I-It's Umbra." Shin said. Umbra turned around to see the group along with the professors. "So I see you guys are alright now..." Umbra said. "Kinsei is being chased after by two other demons, and Rei is in pursuit as well. Minawe, go and help him out." Umbra said. "I'll help too." Tsukihana added before he awaited for Minawe to make a decision. "If Kinsei's in trouble then I'll go with you guys as well." Shin said. "Well, I just see one familiar face after another hehe. I guess you three were lucky enough to survive huh? Good for you, cause now I'll get a chance to really kill you." Rednocte said. "Well now, since Minawe, Tsukihana, and Shin are going to go help Kinsei and Rei, then I guess that leaves us professors along with Shota and Rikka to take a different route. C'mon let's go you two." Uyagiri said with a smile. "Wait, where are we going then?" Shota asked. "We're going to go take care of something. Don't ask too much questions and let's go." Uyagiri answered. Before Uyagiri and the others left, Uyagiri placed his hand on Tatsuya's shoulder. "Let's see how powerful you really gotten ehh?" Uyagiri said, leaving Rednocte to Tatsuya.

With everybody going their separate ways, Tatsuya was left with Umbra to face Rednocte. "Oh that's no fun. Looks like I'll have to settle with killing you two first, then I can go after the others." Rednocte said. Umbra turned to Tatsuya. "Well then Tatsuya, let us face him together." Umbra said before looking back at Rednocte.

-Meanwhile-

While Kinsei continued to run, he heard a familiar voice calling him. It was Rei's voice, causing Kinsei to stopped and turned around. "Rei..." Kinsei said in a faint and weak voice. After Rei was enraged by Maka, Corvus appeared and trapped Kinsei inside a weird, purple bubble. The flames from the Bane of Purgatory instantly destroyed the bubble fortunately. "Arrg, pesky flames." Corvus said. Pointing his staff towards Kinsei, Corvus lifted Kinsei up into the air and tossed him hard onto the ground to weaken him and in turn, weaken the flames. "Arrgh!" Kinsei gritted his teeth in pain as he slammed into the ground. Kinsei spat blood from his mouth and the flames began weakening even more. "That's a good sign hehe." Corvus said to himself.

He grabbed his head after being hit by Uyagiri, releasing his grip on Minawe when doing so. "Ow ow ow..." He ignored what the others said. If he didn't he'd get too pissed and end up fighting them instead. His goal was Rednocte and he didn't want to waste any more energy on the others. He didn't hesitate to follow Uyagiri. He actually chose to walk right next to him. As they entered the clearing Tatsuya continued to walk even further so he was then next to Umbra.

Tatsuya gave a thumbs up to the others as they left. "Don't any of you die on me. It'll look bad on my report card." He reached into his jacket and pulled out his two swords. He then took off his jacket and tossed it too Umbra. "No. This is my fight Umbra. You can stay if you want and watch but you should help the others. This guy is still the weakest of those three anyway. Isn't that right Rednocte? You did get your a** handed to you last time by a noob, a clumsy b*tch and her lazy sidekick, and a demon with a ponytail summoned by a simple C-rank exorcist.

"That Corvus douche revived you, right? Like he'd make you stronger than him or even close to his level. That definitely doesn't put you as strongest. And all your attacks are dick moves to incapacitate the stronger enemy first and then go after the weaker ones next. And even then you fail in killing us. You see the scars don't you? These are from your d*ck moves." He stepped forward with his left foot and his swords turned on. "I can almost guarantee you won't land another blow on me. You may have gotten stronger but so have I. The difference is though is that I'm f*cking pissed."

Minawe hadn't noticed Tatsuya had floated her way, and was now walking next to her. She was still looking down, pretty content to wallow in her self pitty and guilt. That was until a rather hard punch colloded with the top of her head. Her hands instantly flew to her head, "What the hell man!?" Minawe was once again surprised when Tatsuya grabbed her collar pulling her to him, then he started to yell at her. Minawe couldn't look at him, and diverted her eyes to look of to the side. She was released when Prof. Uyagiri smacked Tatsuya on the back of his head.

Minawe crumbled to the ground and stayed there for a while, as they others continued to talk about what happened. Tsukihana told them that Tatsuya was right in his assumptions, and then spoke to her saying she shouldn't let her sorrow completely take her over. But she couldn't help it. They had been bonded for over 3 years now. It was hard knowing that everything they worked for was so easily shattered. Minawe still didn't speak, but stood up and nodded when Tsukihana placed a hand on her shoulder. She still stayed at the back of the group, staying quiet as they came up to where Umbra and a very familiar lookng demon.

When she heard Rei was here moments ago, she looked up. Umbra told her to go after him, and of course Kensei as well. Both TSukihana and Shin said they would come as well. "Lets go then." Minawe mumbled running towards the direction Umbra pointed to. Though the lightening bolts that were coming down form the sky made it pretty easy to tell where Rei was.

Over with Rei, he was becoming more infruated by Maka. All she did was talk, and never shut up. She was even more annoying than Minawe when she never shuts up. "Will you sit still!" Rei growled as another bolt came down just narrowly missing Maka. She giggled, "Close, but still a little off. Try focusing a bit mo-Oh, dam*. Corvus is over by Faust. Sorry but I can't afford to humor you right now." Maka suddenly zoomed off quickly closing in on Kensei and Corvus.

Rei blinked in surprise, "Wh-what the?" He was going to go after her, but remembered the real reason why he was there. He needed to focus on getting Kensei first. Then that b*tch was going down. Rei sped up trying to reach Kensei in time. Rei then started making movements with his arms and like in the Ragnorok world a dragon appeared but this one was heading for Kensei. "Exploding Dragon." This lightening dragon though it could be used as an attack, it is also a pretty decent defense as well. The dragon was heading towards Kensei to coil around him and then explode outwards pushing anything and everything away from the one inside of the dragon. Rei's plan was to create some time, so that he could get close to Kensei.

Umbra wasn't surprised at all when Tatsuya told him that this is his fight. Umbra nodded at Tatsuya before speaking. "I understand." Umbra simply replied as he stepped back and allowed Tatsuya to move forward. "I'll be going then, good luck on your battle Tatsuya." Umbra said before running off. "(That boy is powerful... he can very well surpass me in the future...)" Umbra thought to himself. After Tatsuya finished what he had to say, Rednocte simply laughed maniacally. "Good kid! I like your anger, keep it going! Though that's more than I can say for your cockiness. You got guts kid I'll tell ya that. But you're wrong about one thing, Corvus increased my strength to be comparable to him. Why? Because he also branded me with a curse. The curse will instantly kill me if I do not follow him so he has nothing to worry about, and can increased my strength even further. Your team got lucky last time, but I'll make sure to pay them all back after I'm finish with you." Rednocte explained.

"Anyways, I'm not much of a talker as you can tell. However, I am-" Rednocte disappeared in a red flash and then reappeared from behind Tatsuya in less time than a blink of an eye. "-a killer." Rednocte finished before swinging his wrist katana at Tatsuya in a wide horizontal slash.

-Meanwhile-

"Now, it's time that you die so I can get my Bane of Purgatory!" Corvus spoke before pointing his staff towards Kinsei again. Suddenly, Maka rushed towards Kinsei and Corvus with great speed. "Damn pesky demon..." Corvus cursed. Corvus turned his staff to face towards Maka, but before he could do anything, Rei made his move. Rei used his Exploding Dragon technique to coiled itself around Kinsei to protect him. "Arrg, more trouble..." Corvus said. Suddenly, the dragon exploded, sending a powerful, electrical shock wave outward in all directions, blasting Corvus back and stunning him for a few seconds. The blast also kicked up a large cloud of dust and debris. Kinsei struggled but was able to get up off the ground. Kinsei looked at Rei with his tired and damaged face. Kinsei didn't say anything but his eyes told Rei "thank you". Corvus flew out from the dust cloud and faced Rei. Corvus pointed his staff at Rei and suddenly, a stream of black lightning with a purple outline headed towards Rei. The lightning was so fast that it almost instantly hit Rei, not even giving him a chance to evade the attack.

Once Rei was hit by the lightning, it electrocuted him badly and gave him minor burns, also forcing him onto the ground. "Don't you ever get in the way of my plans you pathetic weakling!" Corvus raised his voice before materializing a large spear and throwing it towards Rei. The spear was quick, too quick for Rei to dodge. Then, an arrow shot out from the smoke and collided with the spear, creating an explosion of transparent energy upon impact. The energy burst outward and cleared the cloud of dust. Walking towards Rei from behind was Minawe, Tsukihana, and Shin. "Arrg! Damn brats!" Corvus cursed. "Are you okay Rei?" Tsukihana asked without looking at him. "I'm sorry, but even if you hate me, I can't bring myself to do the same with you." Tsukihana said before looking at Rei and giving a smile. "And neither can Minawe." Tsukihana added.

"Kinsei!" Shin yelled seeing the extremely injured Kinsei. "Ugh... S-Shin..." Kinsei struggled to say.

"A killer? You're far too weak and slow." Sparks flew out as the two swords collided. Some of the sparks being red of course. Tatsuya simply yawned as he held back Rednocte's wrist sword with his own Nulled Demon. Tatsuya hadn't even taken a step to avoid the attack or get a better position to block from. "Attack me from behind once shame on you. Attack me from behind twice and shame on me. Continue to be a f*cking d*ck and I'll slaugher you no matter how strong you claim to be. It makes no difference."

Tatsuya used the energy from Soul Slasher to quickly spin around while also attempting to use his Nulled Demon to force Rednocte's wrist sword to the ground. Before going for a horizontal cut he turned off Nulled Demon. He stomped his foot into the ground and called off the verse. "Verse XLIV: Naporeon no budou-dan!" The sword handle seemed to act as a shotgun, no, a cannon as red energy seemed to blast out in random directions in large sphere-like shapes but at such close range the attack would be extremely destructive.

Maka smirked. Just a little bit further and she would be right on top of Kensei, and the Bane of Purgatory. From the corner of her eyes she saw lightening, solidified into a dragon form and scoffed knowing who made it. It was that dam* lightening demon, Rei. But why was it heading for Kensei, and not her or Corvus? Maka slowed down, and her eyes widened as the dragon started to glow half a second before exploding, sending out powerful shock waves. Maka was hit full on and slammed right into a tree. "Damn*t! Why is everyone getting in my fu*king way!?" Maka yelled stomping her foot angrily. "Thats it." Maka created another rift and backed up into it. Another rift then appeared right behind Kensei and Maka reached out to grab him....

As Rei watched the black spear heading towards him the only thing he could think was, Not again. He couldn't dodge the spear. It was comign way too fast, and after getting hit by that lightening Rei, was in a lot of pain, but he wasn't about to be a baby about it and complain. He simply waited for the spear to hit him. Surprise fell to his face as the spear was destroied by a very familiar looking attack. It was Tsukihana. If he was here then Minawe was there as well. Rei looked back and Minawe was there like he thought, as well as Shin. As his eyes landed on Minawe he was disheartened when she wouldn't look at him, but at the sight of Tsukihana's jacket - Which Minawe was still wearing - he turned his head and glared at Tsukihana. Wait a minute.... Rei suddenly thought his glare quickly leaving his face, Is that really.....Is that the answer? Are you serious? Rei thought in disbeliefe as he finally realized the root of all of his hate for Tsukihana.

Rei came out of it when Tsukihana started speaking and he only looked down, suddenly feeling quite stupid and very much embarressed after realizing why he acted the way he did. Minawe walked over to Rei and knelt down. "You're hurt..."

Rei avoided her gaze as well, "It's nothing really.....It'll heal." He was right after all, and the burnt skin cells on his body was already being replenished. Burns, at least to Rei, were one of the easier wounds to self regenerate. Impailing, though he can heal himself, takes more time, effort, and concentraition.

Minawe was relieved, but quickly stood up and reached for her weapons. "Then come on."

"Don't get too cocky kid, this battle is only beginning hehe." Rednocte replied to what Tatsuya had said after blocking Rednocte's attack. Tatsuya then used a technique that surprised Rednocte, a Verse. "What- You can use Verses?!" Rednocte asked as a bit of worry formed on his face. Suddenly, large spheres of red energy shot out from Nulled Demon's handle. Rednocte pushed Tatsuya back quickly and attempted to avoid the spheres. One of the spheres got dangerously close to Rednocte and he attempted to slash the sphere away. Once Rednocte's wrist blade made impact with the sphere, a large and incredibly powerful explosion occurred. The explosion headed upward and was extremely bright. While Umbra continued to move along, he stopped once he heard the noise of the explosion and looked back to see the large pillar-shaped blast. "Tatsuya..." Umbra said as he stood there for a few seconds gazing at the explosion. Umbra then turned around and ran off again.

Back at the battle site, the explosion subsided, and the smoke and dust cleared. In the aftermath of the explosion, Rednocte stood with his entire arm blown off. His eyes showed disbelief at the fact that the explosion was so powerful. "Damn... Looks like I made the mistake of underestimating this boy..." Rednocte muttered to himself before looking up at Tatsuya. "Damn, lucky shot kid, but now I'm pissed too." Rednocte told him. Suddenly, Rednocte's arm instantly regenerated. "Hehe, I hope you enjoy your time alive kid." Rednocte said as he got into a battle stance. Then, an extremely long blade extended from Rednocte's arm and Rednocte swung it at Tatsuya in a wide arc. Rednocte then grew blades from his other arm and launched the blades at Tatsuya as projectiles.

-Meanwhile-

Tsukihana saw Maka attempting to grab Kinsei and right away shot an arrow covered in light towards Maka. The arrow was extremely fast and the light covering the arrow is easily able to burn Maka. Kinsei attempted to get away but then was lifted into the air by Corvus. "I don't think so." Corvus said before flying off with Kinsei. "ARRGH!" Kinsei gritted his teeth in pain and held onto his chest. Kinsei was close to dying, and the flame barrier suddenly crumbled away completely. Tsukihana attempted to shoot Corvus but all of his arrows were deflected by a magical barrier that Corvus had created. "My arrows won't reach him. Rei, your lightning may be able to penetrate the barrier." Tsukihana quickly said. "I got an idea." Shin said. Shin then forced his some of his soul into his palm and summoned Redder. "You rang?" Redder asked. "Redder, now that those black flames are gone, do you think you'll be able to carry Kinsei back here?" Shin asked. "Yeah, leave it to me!" Redder replied. "Rei, you have to attack Corvus to disrupt his levitation on Kinsei, that's the only one we'll be able to take Kinsei back." Shin said.

"That verse is more of an attack to use against a large amount of spread out enemies in a distance so it's pretty inaccurate. At close range it's going to hurt like hell. The recoil is pretty bad too though and therefore the verse is ually used with cannons or special guns since those can deal with the recoil better unlike a normal person." He didn't seem to budge as Rednocte's arm grew back and soon after he had another even longer blade. He used his own sword to block the attack from Rednocte.

He wasn't too surprised that Rednocte was usuins his arm blades as projectiles now. "You're nothing but a one trick pony." Tatsuya pointed his free sword towards the ground. "Blast off!" A large burst of energy erupited from Tatsuya's sword which he used launch himself into the air. "I can control not only the energy that my soul emits but also whether or not a force is emitted back into my direction so that I can quickly launch myself into a direction to avoid an attack or even fly. That's why I can use some more powerful verses."

Once again Maka was inturrupted in her attempted to grab Kensei, an arrow having been shot at her causing her to retreat and be inflicted with burns on her hand. "Ahh!! F*ck!" Maka cursed quickly appearing away from Kensei through another rift. She turned her head towards the owner of the arrow. That exorsist was really annoying. There was a noise behind her, like the sound of bones knocking together. "About damn time you useless piles of bones got here." Maka said reffering to the skeleton warriors she had deploied before this all happened. "Destract those pesky exorsist. I am not letting Corvus take credit for my hard work!" Maka then noticed something, "Wait....Don't attack them." She smirked, "Wait until they get the barrier Corvus made down, and then kill them." The skeletons made more weird noises, as Maka left masking herself in the trees as she followed Corvus, waiting for the moment the shield would come down to grab Kensei.

Rei stood up, and glanced at Minawe who nodded. Minawe threw her chakram, luckily, it was with almost a deadly accurate percision. Rei then concentraited on pouring his soul into the chakram, which started to glow yellow and then lighting began forming around it. Seconds later the lightening took the form of a giant arrow, with the still spinning chakram being right at the tip. "Zues' Arrow!" Both Minawe and Rei shouted once the attack was completed.

As Tatsuya blasted energy from his sword to launch himself from the ground, Rednocte suddenly disappeared and reappeared in front of Tatsuya. Rednocte then kicked Tatsuya straight in his arm, knocking him towards the ground. Rednocte's kick felt like being hit with really strong metal. Not allowing for Tatsuya to have any recovery time, Rednocte appeared in front of Tatsuya once again and began to send a barrage of powerful punches and kick towards Tatsuya. Each punch and kick were extremely powerful and quick. "Sorry kid, but I'm not gonna give you any time to counterattack!" Rednocte yelled over the sound of his attacks. After awhile, Rednocte ended his barrage of attacks with a powerful ax kick, sending Tatsuya plummeting towards the ground. Then, a katana extended from Rednocte's wrist and began glowing a bright red color. Without saying anything, Rednocte slashed his wrist blade in a wide horizontal arc and a wave of red energy blasted towards Tatsuya.

-Meanwhile-

"Finally, now I can return to Lord Satan with the Bane of Purgatory and gain my place as a Demon Lord hahahaha!" Corvus laughed, thinking that he had won. Suddenly, a strange noise became louder and louder from behind Corvus. "Huh, the hell is that noise?" Corvus asked before turning around. Corvus' eyes widened as he saw a giant lightning arrow heading towards him. "What?!" Without any time to react, Corvus' barrier was hit with the lightning arrow. The collision caused a large explosion and destroyed a massive portion of the tree line, clearing the entire area of trees. With the explosion, Corvus' magic was disrupted, causing Kinsei to fall to the ground. "Redder, now!" Shin yelled. "Right!" Redder replied before flying towards Kinsei at a fast pace. Before Kinsei hit the ground, Redder was able to grab a hold of Kinsei's jacket. "Got him!"" Redder exclaimed before flying back towards the others. As the dust and debris cleared, Corvus saw Kinsei being taken back by Redder. "Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it!" Corvus cursed and jumped up and down like an angry child.

"I'm not going to let you get away that easily!" Corvus exclaimed before shooting black lightning at Redder. "Ahhh I'm gonna get hit!" Redder exclaimed. Kinsei, though extremely weak, was able to unsheathed the Bane of Purgatory. Then, Kinsei quickly held the Bane of Purgatory in front of him and as the black lightning hit, it was sent off to the side, hitting the ground and dispersing. "Kinsei..." Shin muttered. "Arrgh... Like I'm gonna be killed by such a f*cking pathetic demon..." Kinsei said.

With every other hit blood spurted out of tasuya's mouth. All the attacks definitely hurt. "Didn't see that combo coming. Maybe I've been underestimating you a bit too much as well. Maybe I should get serious..." He smirked as he saw the red wave. "Let's try out that new move. Focus energy in an area and release it..." His Nulled Demon turned off as he used Soul Slasher to send his own large red energy wave towards Rednocte and collide with his.

Of course Tatsuya wouldn't end it with that. Using the waves and their collision as a distraction he raised his Nulled Demon into the air but slightly tilted towards Rednocte. "Force output off." He began to concentrate some of his soul into his sword. "Verse LXVII: Tengoku no saigo no uteki..." A large ball of red energy formed above the handle and was soon blasted upward over the energy waves and fell back down. "Let's just hope he didn't move or I didn't miss."
