ROM Hacking Discussion Thread

Hey' date=' Faint. I'm having a problem with my Fire Red hack. When I try to change one of Blaine's Pokemon to Typhlosion, it won't let me save it. It looks like it does when I click save, but it doesn't stay when I navigate away.

What Tool are you using to change his Pokémon?

A-Trainer. I got it from HackMew's toolbox on Pokecommunity.

It's still in BETA stage. I recommend using YAPE (Yet Another Pokemon Editor) until HackMew brings out a stable release.

But that... it doesn't let me edit trainer's pokemon.

Whoops, wrong tool. I forgot what I used to use... sorry. =\

Pikkomanz en't the only thing you can hack. I recommend changing the title.

Out of curiosity, have any Nightmare modules yet been made for the Pokémon games? Once they're made, they make hacking data a breeze. Maps and sprites, not so much, but...

So' date=' are you gonna post the link when your editing is done?

Is it also gonna be able to play Online? Like in the Pokecenters?

The thread is already up, see my sig for the link.

It won't be playable online; that isn't possible with a FireRed hack.

The title says nothing about being limited to Pokémon, so yeah. Don't assume?

I haven't heard any news of these Nightmare modules made for the Pokémon games, and I'm not even sure what they are. Care to explain?

NMM files are data sets used by the program Nightmare to organize data, pointers, et cetera. It's perfect for editing statistics and whatnot, but it can't edit graphics in any way.

Care to post some info/tools for us? This thread is to discuss all ROM Hacking, it's only mostly centered around Pokémon ROM Hacking because it's the only game I can hack.

Never heard of the Super Mario World hacks for ZNES? Dear god' date=' well luckily there are many sites and hacks.

Also if you do want to hack ZNES you need Lunar Magic and a clean SMW ROM

I suggest you make a backup of the SMW ROM if you mess up.

Backing up your ROM's is needed for any hack. :P

they look fun and cool...route 1 has no obsctacles thought....

I wanna laern how to do that...as I wanna be a software designer one day this could be an excellent pactie...do you hae any toutorial on how do it? if you have I'd like to practice so I can help you soon....XD

Thanks.

Of course, you don't know the Storyline behind the hack. There's a reason there's no Lab in the first town. You don't get your Pokémon yet, and you have to run an errand by going to the next town at the start. So there aren't any obstacles on Route 1 except people and scripts/events.
