iAmNateXero
On topic: Solemn is for decks without speed. It forces your opponent to slow down and level the playing field. Trying to play solemn in a fast paced deck is almost suicide. So far' date=' the only reason that I didn't run Solemn in a fast deck was because I had no room for it, or the deck didn't work well with it because of the cost.[/quote'] So..... did we just agree? o.O I'm saying that Solemn wouldn't be bad in fast decks (with the exception of the small chance that the cost would be a hinder), but just not always needed. You said that it is almost SUICIDE. There's a slight difference between those two, isn't there? With fair play in mind, TeleDAD was fast, BUT it was more of a control deck. Could it otk, yes sometimes, but that wasn't its main focus. It was a Synchro tool box with a field nuker, that was it. When I meant fast, I was refering to FTK's and decks that focused only on the OTK. So any deck that plays 3 Solemns and 2 SDDs are now control decks? are you implying that 3 solemns and 2 SDD is not control?
werewolfjedi
the only deck these days that solemn should not be run aganist are the spellcaster decks coming back, tempest loves it when you reduce the requirements for killing you to magical exemplar, toon table of contents, and 1 random card. and thats assuming there aren't already spell-counters on the field. oh, and she is a level 6 synchro, so she is easy as hell to play, even if your non-tuner has to be a spellcaster. in a deck made to allow her to kill, you have tons of spellcasters, so it isn't a problem. all other decks still have to take the solemn jabroni-slap and cry. as for playing solemn, it is a big risk, unless you can (for sure) keep control of the game, you should not activate it, or you will lose more than you gain. everybody ignores the other reason why yugi and jaden could come back out of nowhere, it was because surprise killing when you start at 4000 is a hell of a lot easier than 8000.(word's still out on yusei from my point of view.) sure you can stop any card, but you pay a heavy cost for it in the early game.I would suggest waiting untill you have been hit a bit from their bigger plans before solemn is played. you have to make your life points count, and since it halves, why waste 4000 when you can waste 1200 and take care of the previous problem with something else. solemn is the planer's card, not the rusher's card. this is a free lesson to all noobs who tried solemn and said, "hey, this card isn't good, it sucks!"
