U.S going towards communism

The U.S. is moving toward communism in the same way that I'm moving toward Antarctica when I walk out my southward-facing front door: it's true in the technical sense that a move is being made that brings it some positive difference in that direction, but false in the sense that it would be even remotely reasonable to say that that is the destination. Anyone who knows anything about politics knows that the United States is actually very conservative compared to, say, all of Europe.

Sometimes I wonder why we made the Debate forum. Then I look at topics like this and I remember. It's because we all need a good laugh every once in a while.

YCM is here because we all need a good laugh every once in a while.

But the Debates forum has the added benefit of bringing to the surface hatred and stupidity that we couldn't detect otherwise. A person's views on homosexuality and creationism reveal much about that person's character.

Indeed. But where are people getting their opinions on communism? I thought America was past our Dirty Reds phase?

Communism would be the ultimate form of government it's just we are all lazy bastards. Everyone gets the same things (total equality), which could be good, but think about it. You are a farmer, who owns 3 Acres of land, who works very hard on the land and always has fresh crops (for your role in society). But one day you meet another Farmer, this farmer owns 3 acres of land and owns the exact same things you do, but he is lazy. So you work hard on your land, and always have a surplus of crops, and this other guy does just enogh for mediocrity. Now, human nature kicks in, and you ask yourself the question "Why do I work harder, when I get the same things as him/her?". Hence you begin to do mediocre work, and other people start to see you and ask themselves the same question. Finally, you conclude that humans are just too lazy for Communism...

For all of you who keep mixing up fascism and communism, I say shame on you. They are completely different and, in fact, are on exact opposite sides of the political spectrum.

For all of you who need some clarification...

Fascism - type of government in which one person or small party is in complete control of the people's actions.

Communism - type of government in which one person or party is brought to power, makes some major decisions and organizes the people, then steps down. After stepping down, the people and their needs run the country.

In general, these two governments completely hate each other. The USSR signed a treaty with Germany because they didn't want to get involved in a war, but Hitler stabbed them in the back and attacked them, anyway.

2 types of people Hitler hated most - Jews and Communists.

As for the real question in this thread, is the country currently becoming communist? It's leaning slightly that way, but Democrats are shifted slightly to the side of communism and Republicans are shifted slightly towards fascism. Therefore, some legislation being passed is on the communist side because that's just the way Obama (as a Democrat) thinks. When a Republican is President, the legislation shifts the other way (towards fascism and away from communism).

So is the United States leaning towards communism? Yes. Will we ever become a Communist country? We would probably have to have 10 Democratic Presidents in a row, all with Democratic Houses, Senates, and Supreme Courts, plus at least one completely crazed "OMG we must become communist or die!" President at the end of the 40-year reign. Would the Republicans ever let that happen? Not in 5 billion years (which is the approximate remaining lifespan of the Sun, so it doesn't matter since at that point, the Sun will have cooked the Earth to a crisp and may very well have eaten it).

Your knowledge of history is obviously incomplete. The USSR made that treaty with Germany and agreed to divide up the world, and more especially Poland, in their campaigns of conquest. Yeah, Germany backstabbed them, no s***, but this was after the USSR began messing with the Balkans, which Germany also wanted.

I'm not saying that the governments are anything but polar opposites, but ideology doesn't always determine opinion.

Also, anyone who says that the United States is anywhere close to a communist state is in need of urgent psychological care. It's clear they've been brainwashed. Fortunately, however, there are techniques known to reverse the process. There's still hope!

wut

No really though. They made a neutrality treaty with Germany and, IIR, Italy too.

You know, the fascist countries.

This is why I said that. I know what I said was kinda basic and that there was a lot more to it, but the bottom line is that signing a neutrality treaty with a country doesn't mean you like them.

Yw, Dictator7 (lol irony). It kinda came with addressing what everyone else said on the page that was wrong or unclear.

I can see how you thought I was only talking about myself. When I said thanks for clarifying I meant for everyone because there sure a lot of people who don't know the difference.

No, no, I didn't think you were only talking about yourself. I didn't mean for my post to sound that way. You just seemed slightly unsure of your first post. I was merely clarifying for everyone else. It just so happened that you seemed to need some support to convince you of your correctness, which I inadvertently provided while attempting to make the truth known.

IN my first post I new I was correct. I wanted to see if someone else thought differently or if there was another definition. So we misunderstood each other.
