Sand Gambler smiled and drew his next card. "I try."

[Draw Phase] [Hand- 3]

[standby Phase]

"Now, my Bandito Dragon's effect activates again..."

Sand Gambler smirked as he flipped another coin and revealed the Heads.

"So his attack returns to 2400 for another go."

Bandito Dragon's Flamethrower ignited once more. (2400/1700)

"I also pay 500 Life points to keep Fairy Box."

[Main Phase 1]

"Next... for the turn's normal summon, I bring Fusion Generating Mecha to the field."

There was a pause, as a black, metallic serpent appeared on the field. The machine had two long tails, each with a turquoise orb of glowing static; they waved back and forth. (1300/1000)

[battle Phase]

"...And now for my attack targets. Let's see. I think I'll attack... your General, with Bandito Dragon."

The Black-painted Blowback Dragon shot its orb of energy at the Dark Soul General, who batted it away with some difficult, then quickly disposed of the mechanical creature.

(Sand Gambler- 7400 LP)

"That's all I wanted to do for my Battle Phase..."

[Main Phase 2]

"And now, I begin. By removing Bandito Dragon- since he counts as a Blowback Dragon in my grave- from play, I can summon Desperado Dragon."

There was a glow of light as a new machine appeared. This one resembled the previous one, but was painted warm orange and red colors, and had a pair of arms with smaller shotgun barrels on them. Its head was a great double-barrel shotgun that gleamed in the sunlight. (2500/1900)

"I could activate his effect, but... I won't. Instead, I'll use Fusion Generating Mecha to fuse him together with Reload Dragon!"

The smaller robot and the larger robot disappeared into a void of vacillating purple energy; a few moments later, a much larger mecha, this one colored dark appeared. It had two arms and legs, each with two smaller gun barrels, but the most noticeable part was the huge, massive gun turret on its head, with a revolver-style Loading chamber on his back. (2600/1700)

"Meet Revolver Dragon, one of my favorite creations. Revolver Dragon, Lock and Load!"

The dragon reached back and snapped shut its ammo chamber, spinning it as if it were playing Russian Roulette.

"Here's how it works- I flip a coin for every Spell or Trap on the field. Currently, that's four. For every heads, I have to destroy a card. It's that simple."

Sand Gambler smirked, and tossed up four coins. He smirked when they came down- Three heads, one tails. "Ah, not bad. I'll take out your Psycho General, Skullking, and your left facedown. That'll be all."

He said, smiling, as Revolver dragon shot two energy bullets, clicked once on an empty chamber, then shot the last one.

[End Phase]

"Heh, you just released something that you'll end up regretting. First, you destroyed my Seal from Beyond the Grave. You cannot activate any more Spell or Trap cards until my next End Phase. Then I'll Special Summon Dark Soul - Vengence Sorcerer. You see, when 2 or more Dark Soul monsters are destroyed, I can Special Summon him from my hand by taking 4000 damage. He gains the combined ATK and DEF and effects of the destroyed monsters, putting him at 4800 ATK points. He also cannot be destroyed by card effects. Now then, I draw! I activate the effect of Psycho General by the effect of Vengence Sorecerer, Increasing my Life Points by 3500 points. I'll attack your Revolver Dragon and you directly!"

Life Points: 3750

Hand: 1

S/T: 0

Monsters: 1

Sand Gambler smirked as Fairy Box rose to defend him again. "Pity for you, I don't need any more Spell or Trap cards to activate this turn."

He flipped his coin. "Tails..." he said idly, leaving his palm to catch it.

He was shocked when he saw the Heads symbol clearly upward.

Revolver Dragon groaned out loud as it was destroyed in a fiery cataclysm of destruction (damage= 2200; Sand Gambler LP= 5400).

Sand Gambler swore out loud, but brushed himself off hastily. "My apologies for my choice of language. In any case, I still have my Fusion Generator Mecha. I assume, since your monster obviously absorbed the effect of Skullking, that he will be attacking him next."

Sand Gamber smirked as Fairy Box rose around Fusion Generator Mecha.

"Now you've made a mistake, you see. You know you can see a true Gambler from a hack when they're down to the wire... after their egos have been taken down a peg. By why tell you? I should show you!"

Sand Gambler smirked. "Heads!" He called, tossing the coin upwards and catching it. It indeed was heads. Vengeance Sorcerer threw his spell towards the box, but it missed completely. Fusion Generator popped up from a different hole than the struck one, chuckled, then released a beam of light that skewered Vengeance Sorcerer.

Sand Gambler chuckled. "You'll recall Fairy Box doesn't directly destroy monsters, it simply reduces their attack to 0. So Fusion Generator could take down your beast of a monster."

"Not so fast. I activate my Spell card, Rune of the Dark Oracle. You see, when I control a "Dark Soul" monster, I can take 1000 damage to negate an effect that would affect it and destroy the card!"

[spoiler=card used]

10822h.jpg

Take 1000 damage to activate the following effects.

*If you control a "Dark Soul" monster, negate and destroy 1 card that would effect the monster.

*If you control a "Seal of the Dark Oracle", it gains the following effects: Once per turn, you can send one "Dark Soul" monster from your deck to the Graveyard. Also, during your Draw Phase, you can draw an extra card.

Sand Gambler smirked.

"Good. I've been waiting for this. I activate my face-down card... Ultimate Gamble!"

He smirked as the Trap card lifted up. "And here's the thing- Ultimate Gamble is unstoppable. It completely ignores your other seal."

He took a coin from his pocket and smirked. "Unfortunately, to activate this card, I had to make one little sacrifice... my safety. But that's nothing new to a Gambler."

He smirked, paused, then walked forward two steps forward, until he was on the field himself.

"Here's how it works. One final coin toss. Heads, everything on your field is destroyed, and you lose life points equal to the combined attack score of all the destroyed monsters. Meaning, you lose. Tails, same happens to me. But...I lose also."

Sand Gambler smirked, then held his coin outwards. "Ready?"

[spoiler=Card Used]

Ultimate Gamble

[Trap/Counter]

The activation and effect of this card cannot be stopped or

negated by the effect of any other card. This card can only

be activated if there is a "Sand Gambler" or "Gambler of Legend"

face-up on your side of the field. Flip a coin. If Heads, inflict

damage equal to the attack of all face-up Monster Cards on the field

to the opponent, then destroy all cards face-up on their side

of the field. If Tails, inflict damage equal to the attack of all

face-up Monster Cards on the field to your life points, and destroy

all cards on your side of the field. You may not activate this card's

effect more than once per Duel.

Sand Gambler smirked. "Then I leave my fate to the hands of Lady Luck." He tossed the coin up in the air, paused, then smirked. "Either way this ends up, I've enjoyed this duel. You truly have some skill." He glanced upwards, grabbed the coin out of mid air, glanced at it and hung his head.

A barrage of heavenly energy descended from the sky in a burst of white energy, incinerating Sand Gambler's side of the field. After a few moments, all that was left was Sand Gambler, in slightly singed clothing, hacking and coughing at the dust kicked up.

"You -cough cough- win, fair and square."

"HAHAHAH! YOU LOST? YOU LEFT YOUR SKILLS TO THE ART OF CHANCE? We dont need someone like you in the Dark Soul army!"

Eclipse walked over to the Sand Gambler and started charging his attack.

"Time to d- ARRRGHHH"

He was surrounded by flames and fell to his knees. The flames didnt damage him, but they drained all of his power.

Firestorm had her hand up, controlling the flames.

"Thats enough. I have to say, you are one brave man leaving your victory to chance. Come with us. We will introduce you to our King."

Sand Gambler smirked at Eclipse. "Maybe... Maybe not. Things aren't always what they seem, Eclipse." The well-dressed man grinned deviously, as he pulled out the coin he had tossed for the final bout. It was heads. He turned it around- also heads; his double headed coin from before, that he had apparently tossed to Eclipse.

"I wonder, Eclipse, did you even think to check that I had given you the proper coin for sakekeeping? It hadn't mattered what the result was... I had already made up my mind about your Dark Soul sect." He chuckled. "Very well, Firestorm. I admit I am curious about what king would employ someone as skilled as you."

He smiled again, moving the coin along his knuckles.

'Hm. They don't need to know that I -had- to cheat when I used Ultimate Gamble... I've sworn before, there is only one man who I will ever use that card fairly on, even if it would be the key to a thousand victories/

"Alright. Fine. Come with us."

Eclipse and Firestorm led the Sand Gambler to a large castle. There were two brutish guards, Dark Soul Archfiend and Dark Soul Golem, who let them in. They walked into the throne room. Chaos King was sitting relaxed on his throne. He looked at them. The intensity in his eyes always brung terror into the heart of Eclipse.

"And who may this be?" He said in a deep voice.

"T-this is a new recruit... h-his attribute is Light, but... he believes in the power of ch-chance. Something that Firestorm thinks we need." He said in a fearful tone.

Firestorm was quiet.

"Hm. I sensed your duel. He is indeed a man relying on chance, but... there is also something about him. Something strong. Tell me your story, young man, if you will."

Smirks. "Very well, your Highness."

Sand Gambler smirked and took out a coin, flicking it up and down. "Have you ever heard of... a Lokii?" He said, in a strange voice. "Lokii are desert spirits. Beings of light, as it were, that people can't decide if are angels are demons. They are fickle creatures, sometimes helping humans, sometimes hurting."

He continued flicking his coin. "I was a human, once, far in the past. I was a land owner; I had a ranch. A Saloon. My wealth was modest, but notable. I owned many of basic commodities in a city. One day, however, my Saloon was robbed by a gang of desperadoes; unable to let that blow to my pride go, I followed them myself on horseback. A variety of things happened afterwards that are frankly unimportant to the tale, but eventually, I found myself stranded near the middle of the desert, with the leader of the desperadoes. We each had a gun with a single bullet... we agreed to duel, like men. Not the type of dueling we see now, but true dueling; two men, back to back, fifteen paces before shooting. We turned. I shot first- my gun jammed. He shot. His went clean... and missed my neck by a fraction of an inch. He ran off; I was rescued moments later. I assume he died in the desert."

He paused, stopped flicking, and took a swing from a flask at his side, presumably of alcohol.

"In any case, our little spat had earned the attention of one of those Lokii. He appeared to me in the form of a man made of Sand... and offered to play a game of coins with me. Having nothing else to do, I accepted... and learned my gift."

Sand Gambler smirked. "From that moment on, I've always been... gifted, with my luck. I defeated the Lokii... And in return, he gave me the coin we played with. He assured me that if I held it, good luck would always follow. I later found out he was bluffing... the coin he gave me was nothing special, his gift had been internal, not external. In any case, with that coin in hand, I managed to get back home in a matter of minutes... and, by three weeks later, I had tripled my cash influx just by winning poker."

He smirked, and twitched a coin. "Poker was the card game of the days then. I was undefeated. People came from all around to play me... and found themselves defeated by my inexplicable luck. Several times I played completely naked, just to prove I wasn't cheating. But then... years later... came him."

Sand Gambler scowled a little. "The Desperado I had had my duel with earlier... he survived. He had been taken in by a group of dangerous fiends... Archfiends, I assume. And, like I received my gift from the Lokii, he received his awakening from them... And, as soon as he was able, he returned to me."

He took another sip of his flask.

"That was the first game of cards I lost. Even now, he torments me... we've met several times. We've never had a winner we could settle on... I'm not sure what you'd call our relationship. Rivals? Of course. Enemies? Possibly. Friends? Likely. Family? May as well be. Both of our awakened gifts made us more than mortals... we developed into fully fledged Duel Spirits quickly enough. Both of us no longer even have our human names... I am the Sand Gambler, champion of the Lokii. As for my greatest rival... the name he goes by is... The Gambler...of Legend."

He said, speaking the last words softly, but firmly.

Everyone was silent for a moment. Even Eclipse wouldnt speak. Chaos King clapped his hands

"Gambler of Legend eh? That name has even reached my own ears. You yourself are no obscure man either. Heh, you are welcomed into my army. Your rank is General. Welcome to my army... the army of the Dark Souls."

He walked towards Sand Gambler and touched his shoulder. there was a slight feeling of pain, but afterward, there was the marking of the Dark Soul on his shirt.

"Your rivarly reminds me of my own with with Colorless. We are both men of honor and have been at a standoff for years. But ever since Exodia came back.. we've been trying to prevent any advancements towards Exodia's territory on either side. You have any knowledge of Exodia?"
