Making Soul Exchange consistent

Recommended Posts

SoulExchangeSDRL-EN-C-1E.jpg

Always a favourite in monarchs, but playing it I always had bad luck with inconsistency, drawing it without any Monarchs late game and really struggling. I've been thinking of ways to run this in a deck such that it would almost never be a dead draw - my initial thought was a sort of Big City-esque deck with Ocean, Stratos and Malicious Edge. Edge's ease of searchability through the hero engine and the fact that Ocean can recycle it would mean that Soul Exchange would almost never be a dead draw.

Saying that, on occassion, I've managed to draw out Solemns and Bribes playing Soul Exchange without any Monarchs in hand, so it isn't completely useless on it's own.

So, discuss the card on it's own, and also any idea you have on running it more consistently in a deck.

Isn't there a card that states that all monsters MUST attack?

Final Attack Orders?

As long as this card remains face-up on the field' date=' all face-up monsters on the field are changed to Attack Position and cannot change their Battle Position.

Anyways, this has always been one of my favorite spells.

Yeah, I would say that the strategy that Akira suggested is going to be hard for me to beat.

I ran this card in an lol Fairy tribute deck and i hated it. Why? because I can play one simple card like Smashing grtound to deal with an opponets monster and then speacil easier than i can tribute for this. But I do like it in Monarchs, all you need is Summoner and plenty of other good discard effects like Vortex.

And to LarryCotter, Im not sure if there are any cards that make all of YOUR monsters attack but there are some cards like Beserk Gorilla that they themselves musst attack during that turn

Summon Monk could stop this from being a dead draw

I had that idea as well' date=' and it certainly is viable.

lol yeah you tell em'.

On Topic:This card was amazing when It came out now its only ok. The attack stoping kinda sucks and we can take opponets monsters by other means anyways and actually USE them before we tribute them. Wich is why I will never play this out of Monarchs

the only problem I see how much control it hands over to your opponent. between the two, you're gonna miss attacking on quite a few occasions. supplement the deck with plenty of monster removal and you'll be fine

The fact of the matter is simple. Either play more cards that can help discard dead ones that still provide a service to you (Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Lightning Vortex), or run more monarchs, so Soul Exchange doesn't end up being a dead card whenever you draw into it.

In short, learn2deckbuild.

Everything is a delicate balancing act. More Monarchs means that the opposite could occur, and I draw too many of them. Allure might help with surplus copies of Caius. Running too many cards with discard costs will mean that I run out of advantage too quickly, although most generic Monarch decks run stuff that needs ditching such as Plaguespreader and Treeborn to compensate.

Eh, screw it, why am I trying to play Monarchs in this format anyway >.>

Everything is a delicate balancing act.

Well then, maybe you should improve your skill at balancing.

Naturally, that is a rephrasing of learn2deckbuild.

So deck building is easy now? Come on, don't tell me that every deck you build works perfectly the first time and that trial and improvement isn't required.

What, you're only able to learn to do something if it's easy? There's a term for people with that problem.

My apologies, it sounded as if that's what you were trying to imply. Regardless of how good I am at deck building, let's continue discussion on the card.
