"A rooster's call ..." She suddenly gasped as she pointed at the trees, where the shape of a fairy could be seen. "Look up there! Isn't that a Ruby Carbunicle?" She looked at Andrew, as if he was the Crystal Beasts expert. Somehow she had a strange feeling he would know about them better than any of them there.

Jade just ran, her eyes fixed on the duel spirit. Suddenly the cat-like monster landed on the ground and Jade abruptly halted as she saw what was in front of them. She analyzed it; the edge of the island and a gigantic hanger.

"Are you suggesting I've got to learn how to fly??" she asked the cat in disbelief. She looked even more disbelieving when she saw the cat nod.

Jade saw Ruby falling beside her. "WHY DID I EVER AGREE TO DO THIS?" She hit the rocks below. Strangely it was a rather safe landing. As Jade looked up, dizzy from the hit, she saw a scene flash before her eyes....

They were in the forest, twelve of them, huddled over a strange bronze circular trapdoor. There was no handle. The most muscular of the students spoke in a brash voice, "I say we put our foot through it." Several agreed, but the others didn't.

"No, I say we analyze the markings," said the lankiest of the group. He sounded like a hissing snake. "It is illogical to stamp on it - this will never break! It is a clever trapdoor, yes, only the most intelligent can unlock it and enter!"

"Well why don't you show us how to unlock it, Snakehead," said the brash-voiced student, clearly disgruntled. Snakehead did not respond; instead he pushed his rimmed glasses furthur up his nose and began to inspect the markings carefully....

Jade opened her eyes and saw Ruby smiling. She immediately sat up and felt herself. There was no blood injury, no broken bones, no internal damage ... in fact, it seemed as if she had just landed on jelly. She noticed her duel disk free hand was gripping something. She opened it and there was a flash of red as the sunrays shone on it. Jade's jaw almost fell open as she recognised what it was.

She had somehow acquired the ruby, one of the twelve stones.
