Super Screen Situation

Here's the outline: I've been planning out costs for various high-end computer parts, in the rough hope I'll be able to save money by building my own high-end gaming rig some time in the future.

I'm a gamer, and I'm a graphic designer. This means I need a good screen resolution, and if I'm going to have a very high-end computer, I'll expect at least 1920 x 1200 (my current laptop which will probably do for the next several years is 1680*1050, but my needs will increase over time), although a 2560*1600 would also be amazing and would push my planned future graphics card to the limit.

I also have an incredible hatred of large monitors, so anything over 22" would make me fly into an incredible fury. My preferred size is 19", maybe 20" (my current laptop is 15.4", which is fine for a laptop, but doesn't look that respectable for a tower PC).

In addition, I'm incredibly impatient, as you may or may not already know. This means that despite the fact that these displays will be available readily and cheaply in the future, most likely by the time I need a monitor like this, I want to know now.

You can now see my problem, and how ridiculous and/or technologically mind blowing it sounds, for the less technologically able out there. So YCM, I'd really appreciate some help on the matter.

For the people out there who, for some reason, doesn't really have the time to read a few paragraphs (seriously?!), to summarize, I need an incredibly high-resolution monitor, between 19 and 22 inches.

Great thanks to you all, Kizzi

Get a desktop computer instead. You can continue to add RAM and update everything without paying for an entire computer. My computer was custom built in 2006, but is updated to 2009 standards. Trust me, it'll save you in the long run as long as you know how and are willing to install parts.

Why don't you check on Ebay or Amazon?

I need the model first' date=' the price can come after I've checked out the specifications.

I happen to have a 20 inch screen (I'm using it).

Oh btw, it's a XPS 420.

According to Google, the XPS 420 is a computer, not a monitor. :/

That's what I've been planning out.

You presumable scanned across the text, and saw me mention my current laptop a few times. I have my laptop right now, and for the moment I'm happy with it because I'm only doing non-professional graphic design. This is something for the future, and the monitor is my main concern.

Maybe this can help?

30" Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP Widescreen Flat Panel

The Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP flat panel display is the highest end monitor available from Dell. From incredible specifications including brightness, contrast, and a 2560 x 1600 space for all your content, image quality is delivered with incredible realism. On the flipside the beautiful chassis and host of functional features like a height-adjustable stand make this monitor really stand out.

Sorry, but it's too big. 22" I think is my limit before I explode in rage. =]

Ok, the monitor that goes with it (which I have no idea what it's called).

You want us to give you money?

Yeah' date=' you seem to be the sort of person who'd decide to just randomly send me money.

Oh, sorry for the wrong info.

This is my current one, and it's 22 inches.

Unfortunately it's only got a 1680*1050 resolution, and as I've said for buying larger monitor I would need a higher resolution. Thanks for getting the link though.
