Grand Espers (Final Fantasy XII)

Harbinger of Doom

Recommended Posts

Here are some cards I based on the Espers from Final Fantasy XII. They can only be summoned with the effect of "Mist Charges" and "Fountain of Mist" is used to keep a Maximum supply.

Note: Due to a typographical error (typo), all of the pictures say ...can only be normal summoned or set is... instead of if! Oops!!!

The cards seem good. The images are a bit blurry but fairly interesting, and the effects look alright, but are basically the same effect for each one with a change at the end.

By looking over a few cards I can see some OCG errors, though they are overall solid. Here are some examples:

-normal summoned or set = Normal Summoned or Set

-put parenthesis around names of cards.

7/10

EDIT: These also may belong in the Pop Culture Section, being that they are based on a video game.

Hey DivineEsperCreator, don't post cards in other people's threads unless they ask. We have a word for that around here, it's "spam," and it'll get you reported.

As for Harbinger, your cards are good, other than the obvious grammatical errors. The only major change you need to make is that Esper Rage does not need to be a Counter Trap because it doesn't counter anything. And yes, these are technically Pop Culture although they are indeed realistic and could be used in a duel.

On a side note, might I suggest Mist Attack spell cards that activate by removing Spell Counters from Mist Charges? You could make a whole deck out of this, methinks.

The effects are similar because I based them off their FFXII appearance where they requires a specific number of "mist" (1, 2 or 3) and have a time limit of approximately 1 minute (60 seconds = 6 Spell Counters), and then have their own special ability/attack.

And as for your cards DivineEsperCreator9999, I like the look of them, but Divine-Beast is more-or-less a God Card thing, and they don't work well as Synchro monsters isf you're like me and like to base them off their original appearance, not to say that your cards are bad.

Lord Smeagle, I like the ideas you put forward and I'll either make Esper Rage an Normal Trap or Quick-Play Spell (Which do you think?). As for Mist Attacks, in FFXII, mist is only used for attacking in Quickenings(Character attacks, not Espers), whereas in Espers, the mist is only used for summoning, hence the "Mist Charge" cards. However, I could make Spell Cards named after their Ultimate Attacks.(?) Good thought though and thanks for the compliments.

As I look upon these espers (as a vet of FF XII and Revenant Wings), I can't help but notice that they are all Normal Summoned. Wouldn't Special Summoning be a lot more...likely? Also, I must say that in the regular game, fountain of mist would be broken as HELL. Think about it. Let's say you synchro Summon your Arcanite Magician. You use his effect, and remove Spell Counters to blow up cards. Then Fountain activates, giving Arcanite more Spell Counters to annihilate your opponent's field. Then the counters keep coming back. For that, I ask for some limitations of FOM's effect, mostly nominal effects (that is, use names; "Mist Charge 1", etc. Etc.)

I wanted to make some of the card more searchable, so I made some of them level 4. Also, they are Rank I Espers in Final Fantasy XII, so they are the weaker ones

I put those cards last night' date=' and now it's as if I never put up the post. Also, Harbinger, why is it that some of your cards are Level 4? That's pretty weak if you ask me.

I wanted to make some of the cards searchable, to I make them Level 4. Also, they are the Rank I Espers from Final Fantasy XII, and so they are weaker, hence the lower level.

In fact, the levels are like that for a reason:

RANK I - Level 4

-Weaker Espers

RANK II - Level 5 & 6

-Level 5 - Weaker RANK II

-Level 6 - Stronger RANK II

RANK III - Level 7 & 8

-Level 7 - Weaker RANK III

-Level 8 - Stronger RANK III

The only exception is "Belias, the Gigas", which is level 6 RANK I, the reason for this is because it is the first Esper obtained in the game.

I have two new cards as part of this series.

Once again, Esper Rage shows the same problems as the earlier Mist Charge, and I can prove it with Arcanite again. You kill off your opponent's cards, then activate your trap. Hello 5400 attacker. Also, you can simplify the text for Zodiac Circle:

Select 1 monster from your Deck or Graveyard with "Mist Charge" in its card text and add it to your hand.

Much simpler. Otherwise, nice work.

Good idea about the Zodiak Circle, and I'll get to work on fixing the Esper Rage issue, and the reason that I listed the card names in Zodiak Circle and not sumoly put ...has "Mist Charge" in its card text...

is because I don't tolerate cards that affect other cards because of their text. The only exception is if it has been affected by a ceratin card effect or equip spell card.
