Basically, your stats must negate a lot of your opponent's stats. That's the whole point of the battle. If you don't negate their stats, and only dump a lot on STR, you won't get anywhere. You still need to think about and distribute the stats correctly, though. INT is very important also. INT increases both MATK and MDEF.
