Akira
In short, a Sourceport is a port of an old video game that has had the engine remade for modern machines and to make it more "playable" by today's standards, as well as adding new graphical and multiplayer features etc. Examples include Skulltag for Doom, Darkplaces for Quake and Knightmare for Quake 2. The question is, do you or do you not use them? Usually I love to use sourceports as they can make the game more enjoyable by fixing old redundant features such as not being able to run above 640X480 resolutions, without changing the mechanics of the game to be any different from the original. However, purists don't always like them, as it has been said that they take away from the "original" feel of the game. What's your view?
