Anorexia Nervosa

Silver Lining

Recommended Posts

I'm sure there's been a thread about this before, but I decided that it was time to make another one. I've been an anorexic since I was fifteen, and still am. This is going to be really disturbing- and embarassing- but I weigh 62 pounds and am 5'7. Yep. Gross, huh? So I just want you guys to know that starving yourself to be thin is not a good idea- it's painful emotionally and physically, it can kill you, and people will make fun of you constantly. I fell into a coma earlier February because I hadn't been eating enough. It's a nightmare, and none of you should ever have to go through it. And if you're really that big of a tub of lard: there's this thing called a treadmill... I hadn't heard of it, apparently. And so now I'm telling you.

Discuss.

Eh. I had a simple solution, and it works great.

Pick times of the day, and eat then. Whether you want to or not.

No more anorexia, and no more overeating. ^^

Well, look on the bright side. Since you have so little wait, you don't have to worry about eating too much! There is always a bright side to everything. A young, disturbed man had many problems. He had no friends, and he never had parents around. He always stayed in his dark, damp basement. When he finally stepped upstairs and looked in the light, the answers to his problems were much clearer. He found friends, and his parents were around more. Now, he never goes back into that basement, because negativity clouds answers. If you're negative, that's all you'll be able to think about, and how bad this is, instead of finding an aswer.

I feel sorry, and I wish I could help. Get well soon ^_^

I've heard that Anorexia Nervosa is very hard to break/cure/whatever, but I can't imagine that someone who knows that keeping away from eating can kill you still doesn't eat, it's just like I can't imagine that someone who knows that smoking is dangerous still does it...

So' date=' you stay anorexic, even though you know this?

[/quote']

It's partially a Mental Illness, or mainly, I haven't really payed attention in Health Class. But yeah, some people can't control themselves entirely. Some people find ways to make themselves, not what they are.

It's a lot easier to go through when you have loved one's support. Hopefully she isn't suffering all alone. Icy's advice sounds pretty solid. Please get better Bells, this is a bad path to go down, trust me I have friends like this.....and it never ends well.

This. It's a mental illness. I had a friend who had anorexia nervosa (who is currently in a hospital getting treatment for it) and she explained a little bit on what it was like.

She told me that it sounds easy to just eat and gain weight, but it's not THAT easy for someone whose anorexic. Even though she KNEW the risks and knew what the lack of eating was doing to her body and health, she just couldn't bring herself to eat anything. She said that it's kind of like a mental block that stops her from eating. She didn't really elaborate too much, but that's pretty much what I got out of it.

Besides the obvious physical issues it causes, it can also tear someone apart emotionally. My friend suffered a lot with depression and she was constantly scared of dying. I'm not an expert on it by any means, I only know the bits and pieces that I've experienced through my friend.

I really hope you get better.

Your friend is one smart cookie. See, I choose not to eat because I feel like it's just going to make me blimp up like a balloon. And I'm strong enough not to give in to my body's stupid little needs.

I agree. Starving yourself will only make yourself worse. Unfortunately i cant really help you feel better with yourself, because i know very little about Anorexia. You should eat more, and if you get a little chubbier so what? Imo, its better then being super skinny... But still, you should be happy with yourself, no matter what you look like. =)

Anorexia is a Mental Illness which effect eating habits dramatically. You think you need to eat less for some reason (Didn't pay attention in Health ;D), thus you begin to eat as little as possible. It is very hard to cure a Mental Illness but if you have enough strength to show that you are willing to change, then, you slowly begin to change. However, you might also need to take certain things for your body.

You can't just say someone should just eat more. <_<
