Felix Culpa
I am not saying the techno we hav now' date=' generation moves on[/quote'] Yes. BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A HUMAN PROGRAM A COMPUTER. THIS WOULD MAKE IT TO WEAR EVERY COMPUTER THAT COULD POSSIBLY PROGRAM ANOTHER COMPUTER COULD ONLY USE COMMANDS PROGRAMMED IN IT FROM THE ORIGINAL CREATOR, AND THUS, robots can never take over. GraveHorizon
That whole mirror thing is crap. You could program the machine to learn, Terminator style. And any (realistic) robot can differentiate between a cold flat surface and a warm breathing human using IR. If machines became sentient, they would most likely try to destroy us. We have advanced computer networks, which means so do they. They could hijack the internet and hold the world hostage. "But someone needs to throw a switch or press a button in order for the machines to start taking over the network!" Technically, yeah. As long as we don't create a machine that can think for itself we're fine. But currently the military is working on unmanned planes that could use gathered information to decide on it's own when to shoot missiles and such. That's just one step closer to our destruction.I can't decide if I'd rather have the machines destroy us, or if going the other way would be better (as in no tech). Wait, are the robots programmed by God or not? If so, which God programmed the robots? That way, I know who to pray to and which religious book to buy. Infinitus
Lazy people. 1. It won't happen. Machine is normally programmed to do one thing, the EXACT way it was supposed to. It wouldn't be able to comprehend doing something else, like an iPhone starting a car. And, there is no machine that could lead them, because they can't comprehend doing something else other than what they are specifically programmed to do. 2. If it WERE to happen, it would probably be done because no one wants to do things the way your supposed to: By doing it yourself. Hopefully, not everything will be replaced with robots because they don't want to move a couple boxes, or do actual work, because a good portion of life is work. You get nothing without a good, hard day's work. If machine could turn against humans, it's because we were lazy. So don't be lazy kids, or else there will be a mechanical apocolypse where we will all be enslaved, tortured, or killed.

staticrevenger
For example: A robot hunts you down. You hid behind a counter. There's a mirror in front of it. Will the robot have the knowledge to differentiate you and the refelction? Heat-seeking laser robots can differentiate.
Infinitus
Everyone knows lighting/extra electricity turns machines evil/self-aware. That is positively ridiculous. (sp? I've never been good at spelling that one) It would've happened already then. No offense, but that is just crazy. Small things like that probably happened many a times.
