OMGAKITTY
A system of morality which is based on relative emotional values is a mere illusion, a thoroughly vulgar conception which has nothing sound in it and nothing true. -Socrates Discuss the meaning of this quote. Eury
Guessing it means judging someone's morals on their emotions is stupid and vulgar? That's probably really obvious though. Wish I payed more attention in History when we were learning about Socrates...

Dismal Euphony
My favorite Socrates quote: "I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing.
Huntar!
change your title Please stay on topic. I found posting that more polite than changing your title to something sarcastic or insulting to your person. Hey, guess what. You reported that post to a General mod. So I have come to find my own post reported. I find nothing wrong with it. :3 About the quote, its kind of hard to interpret. Is it saying that you shouldn't judge anything based on your emotions? OMGAKITTY
I interpreted the quote to mean, creating your values on your emotions is foolish and vulgar (ie, this feels good, so this is a good thing), as emotions can be fleeting and often change.change your title Please stay on topic. Luna Lovegood
As the quote is a philosophical statement, it is left open to interpretation.
Infinitus
Meaning of quote: Basing morals on emotions that you currently have is inefficient, because emotions change constantly and very quickly, which means that there is no consistency in your morals, and morals are the rules and values you live by, which requires consistency. Which is why it has no sound and nothing true, because you don't believe it, you just believe it now because that is the emotion you feel now, therefore meaning nothing because you have no consistency in these beliefs. IMO, that is the meaning of the quote.
~/Coolio Prime\~
Nice quote. Here's another good one: When the king is oftentimes off on foreign affairs his knights become greedy. Infinitus
Nice quote. Here's another good one: When the king is oftentimes off on foreign affairs his knights become greedy. They bend rules to suit their whims and turn on the very people they have sworn to protect. Meaning IMO (Because I see it first hand): People bend the rules while no one is looking because they are curious, and they are greedy, and they begin to think either "What will happen IF I do that, anyway? Why is it so bad?", or "Dude! Look at me! I'm breaking the rules!" or "Hey, no one's looking, nothing's gonna happen to me." That, is part of human nature, and it spreads like wildfire. The judgment required of your position, or any judgment really, should be done through mathematical analysis of the situations with facts taken into account. Having your judgments affected by anything doesn't lead to much good, emotions being a good example. BTW guys, anyone know why Silencer's original account was banned anyway?
