Even if both had the same clock speed, quad would exceed it as it can run it at a greater rate of stability. If the speeds were only a tiny difference, everyone would buy 3Ghz pentium 4 processors for a fraction of the price of quad cores =p Kizzi is right again about the simultaneous programs running, because quad cores generally have a larger cache than lower processor models.
