Luna Lovegood
Cardinal Levada also attacked "those who have a fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible which they want to see taught to their children in the schools alongside evolution or instead of it." Him being a religious dude from the vatican Take That. Your religion want you to learn evolution. So, any creationist out there who wanna argue? And anyone who has any other random theories about evolution. BTW, no flamming in this thread. Just polite, political debate.

OMGAKITTY
(micro)evolution is a proven, documented fact. Creationists need to get over themselves and acknowledge that, at the very least.

Amethyst Phoenix
My theory is that God caused evolution to happen, much like he set the conditions to what they needed to be for the big bang to occur. Honestly, what makes more sense: A sentient entity manipulated the conditions of the universe to cause the big bang. or An extremely specific series of events, in which any sort of deviation would most likely cause the earth to be too close to the sun and burn, too far and freeze, or just not form and/or be inhospitable just happened to take place. Also, look at how complicated your circulatory system is, for example. Such a complex design doesn't just get pulled out of nature's ass. Bombardier beetles (I believe Behind The Mask posted a topic using them as the example for this argument) are another good example.
Luna Lovegood
The second. the first assumes something. The second just requires it to be possible.

hollowblade
evolution vs creationism debates are stupid. Science is nothing more than theories that allow us to understand how our universe functions. Religion is composed completely of faith. They are two completely different things. To try to compare the two is like trying to compare light and dark. To argue science with religion, and vice-versa, is an epic fail. There will never be an agreement because science goes against everything that is religious, and religion goes against everything that is science. Then there is intelligent design, the biggest fail. Some christian scientists in the 80's filled all the flaws in the evolutionary theory (there are some) with "God does it" and called it a scientific theory. That's bullsh!t. The monent God, or any divine being, becomes involved, it immediately becomes based on faith and becomes religious, no longer a scientific theory. Now to the point, that priest is correct. He understands that evolution is a scientific theory, and that's all it is. He knows that religion is based on one's faith, not whether they're right or wrong. Huntar!
Debates go in debates. Religious-related topics belong in the religion thread. Majikarp's post totally wins this topic. Lock
