Huntar!
This underwater city discovered in the 1960's was just finally explored by a british divers on the 22nd. The city has been submerged since roughly 1000 BCE. Old right? There are other, probably older submerged cities across the globe no doubt, but this is special due to it being the only submerged city discovered so far with such precise planning. Divers will be exploring the site for the next few years to get more information. Atlantis ftw? http://news.aol.com/article/divers-get-first-look-at-underwater-city/732031?icid=main|hp-desktop|dl1|link2|http%3A%2F%2Fnews.aol.com%2Farticle%2Fdivers-get-first-look-at-underwater-city%2F732031#
fenrir
[Conspiracy theorist mode] Damnit, it's probably a clone of Atlantis that the CIA is using to hide the fact that Atlantis exists... I'm still waiting on Cthulhu tbh. [/conspiracy theorist mode] Interesting.
Light
WOOO im Greek XD As technology evolves they will probably make this into a underwater museum, with tubes or something. Its amazing how all of this was preserved after so many years underwater
CinnamonStar
Interesting. Yup that's all there is to say for now.:) I'm studying ancient history so this is pretty cool.<3 I found this funny though.Proof positive that global warming is real. This used to be a major port city' date=' now underwater [b']because the ancients refused to believe, and continued to cook over open fires, increasing CO2 emissions and polluting their environment. Algore is right.[/b]

It's obviously moved to the Bermuda Triangle, so that when 2012 strikes, Cthulhu can awaken and will steal our souuuuuuuuuuulz. OT: Why is Greece the prime location of sunken cities. ._. Kitty
Hmm very interesting, I'll have to start paying more attention to the news. This is the first I've heard about it.But it's underwater now probably because back then the water was further out and over time due to the water rising and the continents shifting, the city got submerged. But that's cool, and I hope they do make an underwater museum that would be awesome.

Umbra
I heard that Poseidon and Neptune got in some sort of copyright issue. That's why we have all those sunken cities around Greece and Italy. OT: Somewhat interesting.

Dark
I could swear Neptune was a Roman God and Poseidon was a Greek God. Or maybe my brain is failing to work today.
Umbra
Wasn't Neptune just Poseidon but renamed? Then Poseidon filed a complaint to Jupiter, who redirected it to Zeus, who sent it to Hades, and that's where it got mixed up. Poseidon became mad pissed at Neptune, and started flooding villages. The rest is history.
Amethyst Phoenix
The romans pretty much took the greek's mythology and renamed everything to planets: Mercury = Hermes Venus = Aphrodite Mars = Ares Jupiter = Zeus Neptune = Poseidon Pluto = Hades. Not sure what Saturn or Earth are, but I think Uranus was actually the name of Cronos' father in Greek mythology as well.

Light
Saturn stands for the Roman God of agriculture. Earth is the only planet not named after a God. You lrn2history. The Romans took the Gods from the Greeks. Only a few were different.
Umbra
Someone needs to know about Gaia, also known as Terra Mater or Tellus/Ceres in the Roman mythology.

Ah, but I merely said they changed them to the names of planets. I did say they named them after planets. Lrn2nitpickless
