Felix Culpa
I was surprised by the lack of threads making a mockery of people, so I decided to make this one. Nowadays, you can't go anywhere without seeing some sort of advertisement for a product, whether it be a straightforward TV ad or something specially placed in a movie or show to endorse the product, and get paid back for it. Can you answer the following question? What is on the cups that judges in American Idol drink from? Something I picked up on earlier, while watching ABC's V, is that two of the main characters, the son of Erica, the FBI agent, and the reporter, both have iPhones. Think over that. Of course the news journalist will have one. It's a nifty tool. But a teenager whose parent doesn't exactly let her child do everything he wants? Seems odd. PRODUCT PLACEMENT prevails. Subliminal messaging was banned from TV broadcasiting in the 60's, but you still have this subliminal messaging in the form of product placement, but on other networks, such as Nickelodeon and Disney, they pass these items off under other names, subjectively the "Pear Phone" in Nick, as they like to replace the Macintosh (Yes, Macintosh, that's what the company's full name is/was/will always be to me) Apple with a pear, and in some shows, a star. Strangely enough, you can see it further in the more adult shows, targeting the people who control the flow of money for there families and can, as such, by things they want, as well as their children's favorite little tinkers and toys, thus making such subliminal messaging more effective whereas if a child sees something, they will use the simple method of "I want that toy!" to their parents, which normally never prevails. Honestly, you can't expect to get everything you want in a household, especially as a child. Thus ends my tyrannical rant on the media (for now). Amethyst Phoenix
Selling advertising is how they get the money to pay these people, so your precious shows can continue to run.
