Skin Designers are a joke.

Brushfire

So, I was shown a site with some sexy skins on it for IPB 2.3x and 3.0x. They were literally pro, though they costed $25 each. Pretty pricey for some graphics, eh? Anyway, I decided I'd contact him about converting one of the skins to MyBB. He said they don't normally do it, but he'd take it as a custom job for £200. Lmao, £200 for a port, no way. I asked him if I'd be able to do it myself, and he said that porting skins wasn't allowed. Seriously, why? I'd pay for it, then the skin would be used in the EXACT SAME WAY, just on a different forum software, and the copyright would remain intact. Eh, $25 for something that I could create myself the right time and resources anyway. Meh.

what this is i dont even

Make your own skins. :]

I would' date=' if I had the ability to create high-quality skins. If I could create skins to his level, then I wouldn't be buying them in the first place, would I?

One is not paying for the job, but for the knowledge. If you can do something others can't, then you can ask as much as you want.

What knowledge lmao? His skins are for personal use only, to use on your site. You learn nothing from using them. And many CAN do that, so charging $25 per skin is ridiculous.

Use RCR or CAUTION 2.0. And do you guys know how annoying it can be to make a good skin?

Indeed I do. I understand the CSS and that all fine, it's the high-quality graphics that I can't do. Anyway, what are RCR and CAUTION 2.0?

Forum graphics assistance websites, 'specially for RPing. The former has some wicked good ones for general forums; I'm using one for a project right now. (It's short for Red Carpet and Rebellion, BTW. Can't post the link, but just Google it.)

I'll check it out.

Seriously' date=' it's why I stopped skinning for forums, because the community in general is just annoying as hell.

I moved on to blogger, and I'm happier for it.

I would just suggest doing the same.

I haven't really ever touched Blogs themselves, so to start skinning for them would be odd... I'll check it out though, thanks for the advice.
