Obama Legalizing Weed?

All the same to me. You smoke' date=' you die.

Weed is just weed. Cigarettes have all kinds of crazy stuff that will kill you. :/

At least Cigarettes have filters, unlike weed rolls.

Filter's don't help too much =/

Hey, it's better than having no filters, right?

Meh, I guess. But, like it has been mentioned, cigarettes have so much more crap in them that are...not good.

And addictiveness. My mom for instance. She smoked. She got pregnant. She stopped smoking. She uses the excuse of "im stressed" to smoke a cigarette. It keeps getting worse and worse.

No drugs for me.

If someone is really addicted to smoking, get some nicotine gum.

I understand where you're coming from Icyblue, but keep in mind that if legalized, pot would include filters. Also, it would be WAAY weaker than the stuff on the street nowadays. I think if it helps the economy, then they should do it. Also, this would keep young people from getting hooked on cigarettes and being exposed to a much tamer substance. It would also take money away from the drug dealers.

Many people think that weed is not particularly harmful. I would say that it's less harmful than alcohol but more harmful than cigarettes. Which is to say, it's still really really bad for you, but its better than a lot of other illegal drugs.

Pot combines the reflex dulling of alcohol with the lung effects of cigarettes (although the lack of chemicals makes it less carcinogenic, or so I've heard) but that doesn't mean that the reflex impairment can easily contribute to car accidents, and the lung effects are still severe.

But, if it's between alcohol and cigarettes, why not legalize it? Simply put, I am already against excessive alcohol and tobacco, but people like a good drink, and its a societal norm. As the prohibition proved, banning alcohol doesn't work. But putting one more drug out there on the streets is a step in the wrong direction. If we legalize pot, there will be no going back, that's why its taken us so long to get the restrictions on cigarettes to the point they're at now, and we're still not gonna get rid of them any time soon. What this means is more smoke, more stoned people, more accidents. Tons of people smoke pot right now, but because its illegal they have to do it secretly and they have to do it in private- there's no way we can get rid of it, but at least it's not perceived as acceptable, thus hopefully less people will do it simply because its harder to get. The easier something is to get, the more people will do it, and while I don't think that pot is a super serious thread, the fact is, it's bad for you, its bad for those around you, and legalizing it is a dangerous move that will have far-reaching consequences.

So Alex, lets see what your LD team has taught you eh? This obviously isn't fully written out, and probably has lots and lots of holes in it. Lets see if you can take it down.

Tl; dr...

Just kidding.

Actually, the people I know that smoke pot are all good persons and, even when I know I cannot judge all the consumers using the few I know as a reference, I can say...Forgot what I was going to say, I'll edit later...

If the marihuana is globally legalized, the industry in my country will rise. Experts say that the weed of one part of my country (the region of San Pedro, specifically) is the best of the world, even better than the weed of some other well known zones of south america. It's sold even in Europe.

I agree that there won't be any going back, that is true and it is proven with cigarettes. However, smoking marijuana doesn't have nearly the effect on your brain that alcohol does. I will admit, I have smoked it the past with my friends just for a bit of fun, and my coordination was barely affected. Riding a bike was just easy as it always was and I knew exactly what was going. Unlike alcohol, it doesn't make people act on impulse and do something stupid; at least not to the extreme. Since the weed in question will be dumbed down and way less intense, the effects will be even tamer. Since it's not physically addictive, it could not evolve to the point of seriously messing up your life.

I don't want to debate you on the effects of weed. It is bad for you. End of story. I could go on and on about mental addiction' date=' motivation loss, etc. But I won't because you've heard it all before.

Yep. I've heard a lot of stuff, about a lot of stuff. I've even heard about dangerous is touching paper during an electric storm or how the smurfs are satanic.

Doesn't justify what it does to you. And what it does to you can be fixed in safer more coherent measures that isn't something you can become dependent on' date=' on a chemical level.

Smokers, choose to die the moment they start. Let whats coming to them happen, and watch their blood spill, as it will be a lesson. If you value your life, don't smoke.

Dear Icy,

Marijuana isn't deadly.

Love,

Willieh.

You know what is deadly however? Cheeseburgers. I think all fat people should be killed seeing as they don't value their life. They're just asking to die. Let their blood be spilled as a lesson!

I can be considered a bit fat, and I eat 1 cheeseburger per year. There are people that are fat due to hormonal problems too (not saying that's my case, I just love bread), and that doesn't mean they don't value their life. Also, pot is cool...

*imagines babies smoking weed*

Let's hope Obama finds his brain.

You do realize that it will probably only be available to persons 18 or older right?

Well, I'm bored, so I might as well share my opinion.

First of all, I don't smoke weed and don't plan on it. However, I have a hard time beleiving people who say things like "only depressed people do drugs" and "it ruins your life" when these people have never smoked pot in their lives. I have met some very cheerful people who smoke pot. But in all seriousness, who am I to say whether or not others are allowed to use Marijuana as a recreational drug?

ITT: Weight is now a medical condition.

And I never said it was deadly, at all. Did I ever say anything in this thread that would throw out specifics aside from people who use it choose death? No. No I didn't. Thus, my radicalness must be extremely personal disdain as well as hatred.

Like any belief there is some merit, I am fully aware it is for the most part... Unreasonable. That won't hinder my disgust for it though. And if you bring something else into this, kindly leave while you're ahead, as it does not affect me nor does it come out unless I'm confronted with it.

Weight is most certainly a medical condition. Being overweight is unhealthy. And people who choose to smoke marijuana do NOT choose death. There's NOTHING deadly about marijuana and exactly 0 deaths have been recorded due to marijuana. It is physically impossible to overdose on marijuana, and while the damage to your lungs may be larger than that of cigarettes, most people don't smoke marijuana like cigarettes. Marijuana doesn't cause long term brain damage either.

It does however stimulate creativity in some people and cause both pain and stress relief. A minor loss of ambition might occur, but this affect is also temporary.

If you have a sensible reason for hating people who smoke it, other than MY GOD IT'S ILLEGAL, please confess.

Such a reason is far too personal for you to hear, and is not at your liberty. But what is, is that I did start hating and shunning it from my life FAR before I knew it was illegal.
