werewolfjedi Posted December 23, 2009 Report Share Posted December 23, 2009 I would say that a monarch deck for a beginner isn't the best, they won't want to tribute the monarch for another monarch, which is needed sometimes to keep going, and don't expect him to get treeborn back every turn. you want a deck that is much simpler, some monarchs in the deck is fine, but you shouldn't give him a deck that is based around a monarch build. plus it doesn't let him find out what his style of play is, monarch decks are so basic and stratforward that is doesn't let him have any creativity tell me what his favorate card is, I'll make a deck around that. I'll make it cheep and more importantly, it will make him happy when he plays, and that will make him want to play long enough that you can teach him more, and make him better at the game, and then he will be more willing to use the better and more complex decks.
