2009 CardMakers of the Year

Welcome all, Black D'Sceptyr here, and I'm ready to present my last 2009 post!

 

Over the course of 2009 there has been many a cardmaker that has risen above and beyond the occasion. Cardmakers that have done their art for the better part of this year and done it WELL. These various artists all deserve unpreceded amounts of respect for their various accomplishemnts and milestones that they have taken the courtesy to place out for the rest of us.

 

Unfortunately, since my horrifying sense of laziness has overcome me yet again, I'm only going to present 6 of them with awards. So ladies and gents, let us glue our eyes further to the screens for...

 

The Black D'Sceptyr 2009 Award Ceremony!

 

First off, the first award winner is the Cross-Card Archetype Award! This prestigious title goes to the cardmaker of whom I have seen to have an Archetype that carries every percievable edge of the effect spectrum, as well as is very reliant upon itself, from Monsters to Spells/Traps! After this comes the 2009 Archtyper of the Year. This cardmaker must have contributed the most unique Archetype of 2009. The winner of THIS is...

 

 

Lovely C.C., for the phenominal Archithan Archetype!

 

Effect: This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it be trated as an Effect Monster with this effect:

When this card destroys a LIGHT monster as a result of battle, draw 1 card. If the card drawn is a Level 4 or lower "Vicious Archithan" monster, you can reveal it to your opponent to Special Summon it to your side of the field. As long as 2 other "Vicious Archithan" monsters are face-up on your side of the field, your opponent cannot destroy "Vicious Archithan" monsters as a result of battle.

 

We're getting one step from the end here, with the Imagist Cardmaker of the Year. This cardmaker has to have made a concerted effort to use the best and most carefully chosen images in their work. This person was hard to decide on until the later edge of this year. This cardmaker, I'm sorry, blew the rest of the schmucks clean outta the water (I'm still wonderin' where he gets all those images from) so I am happy to present the Imagist Award to....

 

 

JazinKay, friends and neighbors! Here's the card made in his honor!

 

Effect: "G.B. Hunter" + "Level Hunter" + 1 "Omni" monster

This card can only be Special Summoned by Fusion Summon. Negate the effects of all monsters that activate when they are sent from the Deck to the Graveyard or are Summoned from the Deck to the field. When this card destroys a monster as a result of battle, you can select 1 card in your opponent's Deck with the same Level as the destroyed monster and send it to the Graveyard. Then, increase this card's ATK by the difference between this card's Level and the discarded monster's Level x400 until the end of your next turn.

 

Finally, we've reached the big one, the 2009 Cardmaker of the Year! This was a roughie, folks. First I thought of HP Doom, SaTuRnPaLaDiN, DMZ, maybe even JazinKay again! But, the last-second posts made by an extremely talented and revered artist sealed the deal. So it is my greatest honor to say that the 2009 Greatest Cardmaker of the Year ISSSSSS....

LORD SMEAGLE!!

 

Effect: When this card destroys a monster as a result of battle, you can pay 1000 Life Points to Special Summon 1 "Smeagle Token." The "Smeagle Token" has the same ATK, DEF, Level, Attribute and Type as the destroyed monster. "Smeagle Tokens" cannot attack. When this card is attacked, you can Tribute all "Smeagle Tokens" on the field and activate the following effects based on the number of "Smeagle Tokens" Tributed:

1: This card gains ATK equal to the ATK of the "Smeagle Token."

2: The attacking monster loses ATK equal to the DEF of the "Smeagle Token."

3 or more: Return all cards on the field to their owner's hands. Then, discard 2 cards from your hand.
