Europeans killed my fun...

-Berserker-

Recommended Posts

I decided to play the spanish version of Pokemon Platinum (because spanish is, as some of you know, my main language), just to find this:

European versions of the game are no longer able to play slot machines. These versions of the game replace slot machines with game machines' date=' a machine that simply gives coins to the player with little interactivity. The reason this was done is due to recent implementation of stricter legislation against gambling in the European Union. This issue will cause similar changes in future European versions of Pokémon games as well.[/quote']

Those new "game machines" looks just the same, but you never play with them, you just look at them and see if someone forgot their coins there. That's boring as... well, it's boring.

Discuss things that are totally unrelated to you but end affecting you in some way. Or discuss gambling and anti-gambling laws.

If you want to discuss Pokemon Platinum, there is a thread in the videogame section.

Aren't the slots still in the American Version? I think they were in older versions (Gold and Silver?).

Besides that, why the hell are they upping the gambling laws all of a sudden? It hasn't been that big of a problem has it?

I do not understand this at all. Pokemon games are filled with random chance, down to every attack having a certain probability of being a critical hit, so I do not see why this particular random element - which has no more real-world value than any other random element in Pokemon games - is considered a problem due to "gambling" when every other move you make in the game (including checking the new machines for coins!) is also gamble. This looks like an absurd case of style over substance - what matters is only that this visually resembles a specific form of real-world gambling. That's just stupid.

Also, I just wish they had made this legislation before Super Mario Sunshine came out. If they had, we wouldn't have needed to get through those horrible slot machine games in Episode 4 of Serena Beach that took forever and would eventually let you through if the game finally got bored. Sure, that wasn't really gambling, but looking like slot machines is apparently all that matters.

Again, the important people prove they're blind for the obvious.

Well the British government banned the use of the nursery rhyme "Baa-Baa Black Sheep" because black is racist, it is a similar thing really. Same with "Blackboards" which are now called "Chalk-boards"

PS: "Baa-Baa Black Sheep" is now called "Baa-Baa Rainbow Sheep"...

Apparently "voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir" is banned too.

Any particular reason? Because I don't know what it means' date=' and I'm too lazy to translate.

It me "Do you go to bed with me tonight?". Very Immature. Phoenix, I imagine you are a bird of prey, so just go down and kill Mousy.

"Would you like to sleep with me" is the translation. It uses the formal version of "you" which is "vous" compared to the informal, which is "tu"

It's a phrase that occurs in a lot of romantic culture.

Pink was in that? o.O

l only know this because Pink spilled her bio on BET, she was all like "Oh yeah, Christina Agulera was mad, l took the lead and l was like, 'excuse me bitch, l'm taking the lead as the sex symbol', and we became enemies..."

Bla bla bla.
