Master of the Feral Blade

Roaming through Wanderley's card archive, I stumbled with this amazing image. Its artwork inspired me to give her this name and effect:

49703.jpg

Effect: When this card declares an attack, Special Summon 1 "Wolf" or "Dog" monster from your Deck. Destroy that monster at the end of your Battle Phase. This card gains ATK equal to the total ATK of all "Wolf" and "Dog" monsters on the field.

Now, I am aware that this card is overpowered when it comes to ATK (summon Gene-Warped Warwolf and this card would get 3000 ATK), but consider that:

-There are not many good Wolf and Dog monsters out there; they don't even have a dedicated Deck nor archetype this card could exploit. Perhaps the most notable monsters are Gene-Warped, Pitch-black Warwolf, Plague Wolf (for a 2000 ATK monster that will be destroyed anyways), Mad Dog and Firedog if you run other Flamvells.

-Requires 1 Tribute

-Has no protection from cards such as the common Sakuretsu Armor

-It's a Warrior-Type so you can't stick her easily to a Beast or Beast-Warrior Deck.

So, what do you think? Is she truly balanced with this effect?

EDIT: Changed to EARTH Attribute

Thanks for your ratings.

Do you think it could do well or better as level 4?

As level 4 it would be a no-Tribute beatstick but if you don't summon a "Wolf" or "Dog" monster the ATK buff will be over even before your turn ends.

Also, it would be supported by more Warrior Support cards such as ROTA and, who knows, maybe with those cards at her hand it would be possible to make a Warrior-Canine Deck.

As a random Trivia, this card would gain the ATK of Destiny Hero -Dogma, which only brings more possible combos; perhaps a Cassie-Dogma Deck for a 4400 ATK monster?

EDIT: Or maybe change her to EARTH so it could be Special Summoned by Giant Rat? I don't know. I just want to make her suitable for a decent and competitive Deck.

which aspect of the word "Dogma" makes you think it has a "Dog" meaning = =?

To me, the 1 Tribute is still a pain, but no Tribute would definitely be OP'ed. This card is too weak during your opponent's Battle Phase, so using Giant Rat is a good way both to avoid the cost and save this card your next turn

(during which you summon 1 Gene-Warped Warwolf from hand, Special another Gene-Warped Warwolf from Deck by its effect, and all of a sudden you have a total of 9000 combined ATK on your side of the field...)

I'm not saying Dogma is a dog, he just happen to have "Dog" in its name.

It's just like Roids, which can support "Dark Jeroid"

So she would be better as EARTH. Hmm, I wanted her to be LIGHT because LIGHT Warriors are less common than EARTH Warriors, but I shall change it for the sake of her usefulness.

Or you could use Shining Angel, but that means you would have to make a Angel-Wolf Deck, but that would make the Deck even more inconsistent.

I was thinking this card would go well with Lightsworns if only "Wulf" had been named "Wolf".

well, much like the way Harpie's Brother is not a "Harpie" monster and Celtic Guardian is not a "Guardian" monster, you will need to look into OCG to see if the word is in the name. In the case of Dark Jeroid, the roid part works out, but...

暗黒のマッドドッグ (Mad Dog of Darkness)

メカドッグマロン (Mecha-Dog Marron )

D-HERO ドグマガイ (Destiny Hero -Dogma)

pretty close, but not quite >.>

That's something I had not considered. My card doesn't get ATK from Dogma, after all; is not really a problem because she was originally intended to work with wolves and dogs.

I will keep the OCG in mind when I make similar cards.
