Multiple Intelligences

The theory of multiple intelligences was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes nine different intelligences to account for a broader range of human potential in children and adults. These intelligences are:

 

1. Verbal-Linguistic Intelligence -- well-developed verbal skills and sensitivity to the sounds, meanings and rhythms of words

 

2. Mathematical-Logical Intelligence -- ability to think conceptually and abstractly, and capacity to discern logical or numerical patterns

 

3. Musical Intelligence -- ability to produce and appreciate rhythm, pitch and timber

 

4. Visual-Spatial Intelligence -- capacity to think in images and pictures, to visualize accurately and abstractly

 

5. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence -- ability to control one's body movements and to handle objects skillfully

 

6. Interpersonal Intelligence -- capacity to detect and respond appropriately to the moods, motivations and desires of others.

 

7. Intrapersonal Intelligence -- capacity to be self-aware and in tune with inner feelings, values, beliefs and thinking processes

 

8. Naturalist Intelligence -- ability to recognize and categorize plants, animals and other objects in nature

 

9. Existential Intelligence -- sensitivity and capacity to tackle deep questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life, why do we die, and how did we get here.

 

 

So which intelligences do you think you posses?

 

Mine would be Verbal/Linguistic, Mathematical/Logical, Visual/Spatial, Interpersonal, and Intrapersonal.

2. Mathematical-Logical Intelligence I posses a tad bit of this, but not enough

 

3. Musical Intelligence None what so ever

 

4. Visual-Spatial Intelligence I can visualize some but it just depends

 

5. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence This I can do a little

 

6. Interpersonal Intelligence I'm very skilled at detecting this

 

7. Intrapersonal Intelligence I'm very self-aware and I keep my emotions firmly in check

 

8. Naturalist Intelligence I'm very keen in nature and can recognize nature well

 

9. Existential Intelligence I struggle with this

Because you are claiming to know everything when you say Omniscient intelligence. You don't know everything. Even if you were joking, jokes that claim you are all powerful or all knowing are just plain annoying. >_>

I'm not opening my mouth. I'm typing with my fingers. Secondly, I sent the message because I wanted to, and I can't stand it when people decide to say, whether they are serious or not, that they are all powerful or all knowing.

I am quite gifted in this one.

2. Mathematical-Logical Intelligence

Same for this one.

3. Musical Intelligence

I'm not very good at this one.

4. Visual-Spatial Intelligence

Extremely good at this one.

You must have this to play sports well. So I do have this one.

6. Interpersonal Intelligence

Not very good at this one.

I'm neutral at this one. I guess. :/

8. Naturalist Intelligence

Not very good at this one. I can tell deers and birds and plants apart. But not down to their specific type. Wouldn't know a whitetail deer from a whatever else type of deer there is.

9. Existential Intelligence

I'd like to think I'm quite good at this one. I have also proven I'm good at this one in a few threads in this section.
