MysticWater
As you may know, this year is El Niño, meaning that the heating of the oceans causes more precipitation, and that leads to more rainfall throughout the world. Anyone who knows Southern California knows that we aren't too used to whether. So-cal gets hot, and even winters aren't as cold as you'd think. But one main thing to take note of is that California is not accustomed to tornadoes, which you hopefully knew. I can remember that there was one in Fontana years ago, but it was something small. So at School today, during my 5th Period, we had some rainy weather. Not pouring, but not just a drizzle. Cold cold cold outside. Me and my friends were working, not paying attention, when all of a sudden our teacher turns on the News. He called clean-up (which isn't really clean-up, it's just put your stuff away and wait for the bell to ring) early. Everyone gathered around the TV and saw the label on the report: "Tornado Warning". We all listened to what it was saying. "Riverside area is expected a powerful Tornado". We were in Alta Loma, so it was a 45 minute drive, if that. Anyway. The intercom turned on and our principal announced that all teachers are advised to keep their students inside their classes due to a possible Tornado. Everyone was shitting bricks. So-cal, as I said, is not used to things like this. So, we sat there. Everyone watched the news, but me and my friend whipped out our cards and Dueled. He creamed me with his Crystal Beast deck ._. Finally, we were released into our 6th period which was short. Discuss one of the following. 1.) School Lockdowns2.) Extreme Weather3.) Tornadoes4.) So-cal
Zeroshot
Central America is used to the 'fear' of a tornado.I recall being in my first grade classroom and having to do the tornado drill. It was only after we were allowed to move were we told that it wasn't a drill.

Amethyst Phoenix
El Nino hits every few years, and we've known about it for freaking ever. Maybe South California should be prepared for it by now?
MysticWater
We know it occurs and we know what will happen. So-Cal doesn't get rain. Ever. We are lucky if we get a light drizzle for like a few hours..
Mehmani
El Niño is Fernando Torres' nickname. There was a tornado in South London several years ago, it threw tiles off the roofs of houses but didn't kill anyone. Only about £10,000 in damage. Scyire
My high school is in San Diego. It is an outdoor high school. I have to walk in the rain from class to class. It sucks. At first, I'm all like, "Yay it's rain!", but after my shoes and socks are soaked and my hair is dripping its not fun anymore.

-Berserker-
O don't know if here we have extreme weather. What is extreme for some can be normal for others. But we don't have tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, earthquakes, tsunamis (I know last two are not related to weather). We don't even have snow, and we have hail like 1 or 2 times per year. But storms are strong. Summers are very hot and is the perfect habitat for mosquitos...
Monkey
The reason for everybody freaking out is because this is the worst storm we've had in the past 15 years. There was a small tornado around the Seal Beach area and that's about it. We just have strong winds and heavy rain, nothing else. We had a very, very brief tornado warning but that's it. The lockdowns weren't even that long. It wasn't like it was hours long. I live about 20 minutes away from where the tornado hit and I wasn't on lockdown for that long. I had pouring rain and heavy winds, so it was way worse than what you had. inb4coolstorybro
