Shadow Zero
(loldarkworld) Raven had lain down on the ground, yawning drowsily as he did so. In a moment, he woke up and got up from the ground quite suddenly. Whoa! I'm passing through something! He noticed two things right away. the first was that the pedestal that he and the others had been so closely observing was cast in a silvery light, and that the sun had a pinkish hue with the clouds above being a charcoal black in color. The second was that there were two identical switches where the last two obelisks had been, and that as opposed to the waking world, the Dream Dungeon seemed perfectly preserved, and also looked to be different in its layout. turning to Deralen Raven motions towards the two twitches and says "Shall we see what those shall do for us? Saiba Aisu
Erzet had always prided himself on his remarkably light and graceful tread, which caused only a small amount of noise when he moved—now, as his feet began to sink into the muddy, waterlogged ground, they began to squelch unpleasantly, and what's worse, loudly. The Gerudo tossed a vexed look at the surrounding ground, which was growing continually worse as they moved further and further away from Lake Hylia—it wasn't just the fact that his boots were more likely to be ruined than not by running through the swamps that bothered him. As a thief, Erzet liked things to be done quietly, quickly, and most important of all, efficiently. For this reason, his displeasure with the current phase of their journey was understandable. His temper wasn't improved as he considered the fact that things were bound to only grow worse as they moved further into the Haunted Swamplands—despite what he had said to Raven at the Greater Tide about the Gerudo Thieves being tough, he recognized that he would need more than toughness to help him navigate the treacherous swamps successfully. He cast a brief look upwards to where Sariri was gliding along easily at only a little more than head-height, and made a stab at a confident thought that her sharp eyes would be enough to get them both through the Haunted Swamplands. Despite his confidence in his companion, however, the Gerudo lapsed into a continually worsening mood that discouraged conversation as he hauled their supplies across the boggy terrain. Only a few hours later, when the sun was beginning to descend from its midday zenith, Erzet called out to Sariri, who was circling above, that he needed a short break. The Gerudo checked the ground around him and then withdrew the same leathery cloth he had used to wipe his scimitars; spreading it out underneath him on the patch of land that looked the most solid, he sat down lightly and crossed his legs in a meditative position. Somehow, despite the high amount of humidity in the air and the fast pace with which he traveled over the Swamplands thus far with Sariri as his guide, he wasn't perspiring. As he hoisted up one of the supply satchels and began sifting through it to check their progress on the map Princess Zelda had given them, he took a moment to glance around the surrounding area, noting the murky, stagnant water whose depth was indeterminable, the few rotting sickly trees and logs that littered the ground, and the marsh-weeds which seemed to sprout everywhere. Erzet pulled down his gray-cloth veil from his face, relieved that there were no gnats or mosquitoes for the moment, and turned his attention to the map in his hands. Hydra of Ages
The ebon-haired woman nodded as Erzet called that he needed a break, and with a quick swoop, touched talons to the ground near him. She winced when she heard the squelching of the ground below her left foot, and withdrew it quickly, rubbing the swamp mud off on the ground near her while muttering under her breath."Hunh. Kinda warm here." she commented, her wings ruffling a little in the gentle breeze that managed to twine its way through the swamp. While she would normally enjoy a light swaying of the wind, she was rather displeased it smelled strongly of swamp, a rather unappealing scent even to her fairly unrefined nose. "So, what's up?" she commented. "Are we getting closer to the temple? I didn't see anything but above, but then again, pretty much everything looks the same from up there. It's hard to even pick out a path and keep on it, the marsh has this way of blending colors together..." she muttered to herself, flicking a lock of her hair behind a pointed ear. She glanced around with a hint of displeasure; decay, death and the propagation of rather unappealing life forms, that's all she saw around here. There wasn't exactly much variety in the bleary green landscapes, aside from stagnant pools of water and gnarled-looking trees surrounded by ferocious-looking reeds. On one hand, it was something she hadn't seen ever, so that was exciting. On the other hand, she didn't see anything really that appealing about it. She still felt the urge to scower it from top to bottom, though now more to find something exciting in it rather than because she was eager to see a new place. She let out a slight grunt, quickly undoing a button on the shirt she wore under her coat, smiling slightly. The temperature reminded her almost of Dragonroost, hot and humid. Not nearly as fair-smelling admittedly, and no big familiar mountains to scale, but close enough she supposed. In any case, the heat didn't really bother her, though it was a fair difference from the usual temperature of the Hylian Highlands. She walked around behind her partner, and rested a hand on his shoulder, leaning forward. "So, where's that map?" she asked, looking down into his satchel. - GM Post: Red JungleGM Post: Red Jungle Mira's arrow struck the top of the pillar easily, however suprisingly, it only penetrated the thin membrane on the outside of the small black orb. Pulsating angrily with large tufts of crimson mist, it seem to thump with what felt almost like the great heartbeat of a giant plant. The room came alive. Even by Billos and Lorenz, the plants simply seemed to wake up. All around them came the same rustle, a strange low gurgle like the hungry snout of a pig while half-drowned. There was a constant sound of falling leaves, though there was nothing immediately notable. Everything seemed to be entirely quiet, though one could feel that there was something fundamentally, intriguingly, wrong with it... And the top of the Red Pillar simply continued to pulsate angrily, voicing its opinion on being shot. There was a few moments of silence, the calm before the storm, until finally one of the three mortal creatures released their tension, let down their guard for only a fraction of a second, and then... they pounced. The majority of them congregated on Mira, as she was the one who had attempted to harm the Pillar. All around the thick red plant, the smaller variations of itself that had popped up all around them seemingly released their heads into the sky and unfurled their wings- revealing them for that they truly were. Seeming slightly like large black beetles, they moved their wings to reveal two massive, parachute-like tufts of white fluff that quickly expanded and brought them high into the sky, where they floated seemingly harmlessly, drifting in the unpredictable breeze. The cargo held by the strange parachutes had a thick shell upon their backs, similar to a nut, though at the moment they were open, revealing their six segmented scalpel-like limbs that reached out hungrily for the Dark Hylian Woman. By the two males, a line pulled taunt around Billos' unsuspecting foot, nearly tripping him up when it revealed itself to be not a normal vine. A head, bright crimson like a blossom and parted by a great cut down the middle like a mouth, scowled and revealed its bright, white and tooth-like fangs that dribbled with a saliva-like substance. A mane of leaves around its neck was covered in thorns, revealing itself to be not of a peaceful type of flower, and its thick, sturdy red vine-like stems that had so easily extended out so far, blended in perfectly with the ground. It seemed to observe its prey, though it lacked eyes, as if deciding who to eat first. Its mind was made up, however, as from behind Lorenz two more of the creatures revealed themselves from the ground, lunching towards the Zora with their fang-filled mouths agape. encapturer
((Gear-wise, what are we carrying? And how effective are they?)) "Uhwaaa?!" Deralen felt... cheated somehow. This change of scenery felt like someone just moved the world, leaving them in the same spot. He felt this dream should have felt more *mystical*, not mundane. After he let that fact sink in, and stepping out of the light, Deralen glanced around the room. Then he scanned the area in front of him again. Then he walked around in a small circle while looking around before stopping, facing Raven. "....where are the doors?!" Deralen said to himself, breathing heavily. He wasn't particularly claustrophobic; it was just that the fact that this place was built with no way out was unnerving to him. Raven suggested using the switches, which Deralen was more than happy of oblige. "Maybe they'll let us out of here...!"

Shadow Zero
ooc: sorry for the delayed post time, i had no internet yesterday, and am currently having to use the library computers for my internet needs. unfortunately, i must also be leaving soon, as i have work at home that must needs be done. Raven was somewhat perturbed by Deralens response at first, but simply walked over to where the switches were. "All right Deralen. We'll step on teh switches at the same time on the count of three. One...two...THREE!" Raven jumped onto the switch, not even looking to see if Deralen was doing the same. He knew that Deralen would make a similar motion at the same time, and trusted that he wouldn't hesitate. I just hope that there isn't some type of trap that is set off if our timing isn't right though. he thinks to himself as he feels the switch starting to sink into the ground. Saiba Aisu
GM Post: Dream DungeonGM Post: Dream Dungeon As both Deralen and Raven stepped on the decorated switches at the same time, pushing them down into the ground, a loud clicking noise echoed around the pavilion. After a brief pause, an earth-shaking rumble could be heard overhead, as if a large segment of stone were rotating slowly but steadily; oddly enough, however, the ground beneath the Goron and the Hylian's feet remained firmly solid and did not seem to move. Indeed, upon closer examination of the room, it was obvious that nothing had happened here. And yet, despite the lack of any evident change, both Deralen and Raven had a sense that something had been accomplished—as to what that something could be, neither of them had even the faintest indication of an idea. Current Location: Path of Visions (Dream World) [spoiler=Places of Interest] Places of Interest: • Depressed Switches: Two standard switches embossed with the double wave-like linear design that you have come to associate with the Dream Dungeon, they were previously elevated and are arranged side-by-side where the last two obelisks in line should be. It appears that pressing both of the switches at the same time has had some kind of significant effect, but whatever it might be, it does not appear to have changed the Dream World in the slightest. Exits: • N/A: Unlike the Path of Visions in the Waking World, which possessed several doors and an exit back through the Visionary Access to the mountainside, it is impossible to progress from this room on this plane of consciousness. encapturer
"That.... was underwhelming." Deralen blinked a few times, stunned at the amazing lack of effectiveness the switches had. The fact that the place was shook up, yet nothing happened was mind boggling. Still, the lack of doors had to be rectified. "I wonder how Skull Kid is doing..." Deralen muttered to himself. Perhaps something happened in the real world due to their actions here, after all. "He's probably safe, but still..." he continued, as he walked over back to the glowing pedestal. He didn't step inside it, since he wasn't sure what to make of the glow. "Raven, what do you think of this thing?" He asked, turning to the only other person in the barren room. Andx
Lorenz had heard a very distinct scream. It had to have been Mira. He was about to try an move to here location but he took notice of the rustling among the leaves. A red plant resembling a Deku Baba had sprung to life right in front of them. Lorenz in reaction was quick to activate his gem and summon his lance and shield. The water in the air condensed around his hands as the weapons took shape. Lorenz thought to attack the monster right away but noticed it seemed to be searching. Almost like Billos's motion had made it move but it was searching for him now. It was then that Lorenz heard other things moving around behind him. He turned around to see two more of the creatures almost on top of him. He had no time to respond other than hold his shield and left arm up. He doubted the babas could break the shield but he was just as certain they would not stop attacking after failing once. Blake
Billos tried to escape as the creature pulled him. His sword was beneath his cloak, so he quickly, yet grudgingly, removed it. It was off, and his sword had cut the vine about his leg in about his leg. He hopped up, vaguely aware his scars were showing, and that his cloak had been destroyed. He'd had to rip it off. He got back to back with Lorenz, pronto. "Ready?" He asked the Zora rhetorically. He put his sword on his back, and pulled out his tome and knife. He pricked his finger, and began to write with the blood he'd pricked. He wrote 'The Ground rose around Lorenz and Billos to form a small wall.' When his writing was done, the ground made a 2 foot wall around the duo, about four feet across. His magic was no good against these things. Hydra of Ages
GM Post: Red JungleGM Post: Red Jungle Mira's sword struck the pillar, causing it to twitch as a thin sheet of ice quickly covered it. The top of the pillar seemed to condense and grew back in on itself, like an animal curling up for heat, as it was encased within a membrane of frozen water, glittering in the sunlight. It stopped pulsing, momentarily frozen in place, but the humidity in the air and heat of the Jungle was already working its magic, pausing the shiny ice pillar to quickly perspire droplets of water. It probably wouldn't stay integral for too long- a couple minutes, at the most. Unfortunately, by focusing her attention on freezing the pillar, Mira neglected to take into account the small, floating creatures that had collected around her. Moving surprisingly fast with an opportune breeze, one snuck up on her and with a surprisingly delicate motion, landed upon the back of her neck and sunk its sharp claws down into the flesh, eventually tapping into her neckbone with its specially crafted claws. Though she resisted for a moment, Mira's body shuddered several times, eventually ending as her pupils contracted, becoming glassy and unfocused on anything else. The insect snuggled against her back, hiding itself under the back of her shirt. (Mira has been possessed by a Spore Tuft. Characters possessed by a monster in the Red Jungle can only be controlled by the GM for a duration of 2 posts, after which they will break free.) One of the Crimson Babas cried out as it withered, separated from its stem by an untimely slice to the vine that it had used to catch its prey. The other two vicious plants snarled at the death of their ally, and immediately lunged forward at the strange fish-person that they had in their sights, only to be confounded by a wall suddenly rising from the ground itself to intercept them. Each striking the wall with a resounding smack, they both drifted backwards, momentarily stunned by the impact as they tried to recollect their momentum. The two males were distracted from their opportune tricking of the Babas by an arrow flying by Billos' shoulder, nearly grazing it. Turning back, they could plainly see the shape of Mira calmly notching another arrow and taking proper aim, this time to kill. Shadow Zero
Raven was somewhat confused at the decided lack of visible results transpiring from stepping onto the two switches. How very anticlimactic. he thinks to himself as he follows Deralen back to the pedestal that is surrounded by the mysterious silver lighting that was the one thing of which had been completely unchanged when they had entered the Dream World. "There were many doors in the waking world, and the lighting around this pedestal seems to be the only thing that hasn't changed between the Dream World and the waking world. I wonder......" Raven spoke more to himself then anything else, musing at the silver light that surrounded the pedestal and wondering if that was the one thing about the Dream Dungeon that had not changed over time. Turning to speak to Deralen, Raven says a little louder then when he was thinking out loud "Let's return to the waking world. I have a feeling that either the barriers surrounding the switches there have been lifted, or the sliding door has opened. If we are fortunate, it is possible that both might have occurred at once as a result of activating those switches."
Saiba Aisu
GM Post: Dream DungeonGM Post: Dream Dungeon As both Deralen and Raven stepped into the glowing silvery light that was exuding from the elevated circular pedestal, it increased exponentially in strength and size, widening until it encompassed them both and the two males had shut their eyes from its brightness. There was a pause of indeterminable length as they hovered between the planes of conscious and unconscious existence, caught in the middle of the bizarre and fantastical skies of the Dream World and the pale sunlight and cold mountain breeze of the Waking World. Then the illusion was dispelled as the silvery light began to fade, and with a sudden solid rush, Deralen and Raven returned to consciousness, their eyes blinking open as they awoke from their deep slumber. For a moment, the two could make neither head nor tail of the excited, piping cries that temporarily surrounded them as they tried to take in their surroundings. Getting to their feet, they recognized Skull Kid, who was dancing around in a mad, graceful caper like some kind of child-dervish. He was pointing excitedly at the left-most side of the limestone wall behind them, which had previously been blocked by a gleaming metal gate. However, it was clear that stepping on those two switches simultaneously in the Dream World had had some kind of significant effect, for the gate was now raised, allowing access to the rusty elevated switch it had been guarding until then. Current Location: Path of Visions (Waking World) [spoiler=Places of Interest] Places of Interest: • Path of Visions: You've been here before, and it seems that the transdimensional activity you set into action in the Dream World has had some sort of effect on the Waking World—in this case, the gleaming metal gate that was invulnerable to all forms of attack has been raised, allowing access to the switch inside the hollowed indent it was guarding. Although you're making progress, none of the three doors leading further into the Dream Dungeon are currently available. • Hollowed Indent: A carved hollow located directly to your left, it contains a simple elevated switch which requires pressure to activate and was previously barred by an impenetrable metallic gate. Now that the gate has been raised, surely you'll want to try and see what happens if you push it, right? Unfortunately, this may prove a little difficult, due to the fact that the switch appears to be rusted, meaning that a human won't be able to push it down. • ???: This door is located directly across from you across the pavilion. It is fairly large and separated down the middle into two sliding segments, although it does not seem like it will open at the time. Progressing through this door seems like it will be lead you further into the depths of the dungeon, but how to open it? • ???: The left-most door located at the west end of the complex, this door is covered in silver chains which indicate that a Small Key is needed to proceed. Scour as you might, you won't find any key to open this door in this area—perhaps if you managed to find it somewhere else? Exits: • Visionary Access: The carved tunnel from which you just entered, it will take you back to the mountain path far above Lake Hylia, which doesn't seem very helpful. == OoC: As before, successfully activating the rusted switch will take only a little thought on your part—I am confident that you three will be able to figure out a way to apply the necessary weight to push it down. Shadow Zero
Raven looked over at the rusted switch, noting the hollow indent in it before grumbling inaudibly about the noise that Skull Kid was making. Getting to his feet, Raven walks over to Skull Kid and makes to grab him and hoist him off the ground, a task that required several attempts due to Skull Kid not remaining still enough. Finally managing to grab a hold of him, Raven hoists Skull Kid off of the ground and says "Hey, how about acting a little less hyper, huh?" He then turns to Deralen while Still holding onto Skull Kid and says "Seeing as that rusted switch has an indentation in it, I would think that a Goron would be ideal for the task of activating it, wouldn't you agree Deralen?" He said this because his Octorok had wandered off in search of food. The miniature food shortage wasn't only Enthai's problem... Enthai watched his Octorok go out of sight, and way to the camp. Enthai was on a mission. This mission was to follow these strange tracks that Enthai had found, hunting. They were different than anything he'd seen. Well, he hadn't seen much, so that wasn't saying anything. Still, Enthai wanted to find out. He noticed that the tracks were bipedal...two of them. Enthai snuck here and there, until finally he heard voices. It seemed like it had been a couple of hours. Looking around he noticed the two creatures making thae tracks. Wow, they looked different! They didn't look at all like anything he'd ever seen. Maybe they were hostile, maybe they were friendly. But Enthai didn't want to get caught up. Yes, he did! He wanted to socialize with other beings, and this was his chance! Eh...maybe they wouldn't like him because he was a fish person, a zora...he sat down, looking at them. encapturer
While the dream world itself was normal enough, the transitions between that and the 'real' world was still a little disoriented. Deralen was able to gather his wits in time for Raven to suggest having Deralen press the raised, rusted switch. Deralen shrugged at the suggestion. "Worth a try," he said as he walked over to the switch. He wasn't really sure whether or not his weight would be enough; that switch *does* quite rusted in place. After a moment's hesitation, Deralen placed himself on top of the switch, ready to jump up and use gravity to aid him if the switch doesn't budge by him standing on it alone. Shadow Zero
Just before Deralen jumps, Raven raises a hand to his mouth and says loudly "Don't forget to curl up into a ball when you hit the switch. Otherwise, it probably won't work since I get the feeling something that is roughly sphere shaped is supposed to rest into the switch when it sinks into the ground." Raven found himself wishing that they had a hammer on them to use and that the switch was flat on top so that they could just do that. It would have been easier, and a lot less tricky. That, and he also wished that Skull Kid would stop his squirming and calm down already, he was getting quite annoying. Turning to Skull Kid and holding his fist aloft in a threatening manner, Ravens face assumes an annoyed expression as he says "You have the count of three to calm down and stop acting hyper before I bonk you on the head. One...two..."
Saiba Aisu
[spoiler=OoC. Please read, Shadow Zero.]OoC: Shadow Zero, stop threatening Skull Kid as if you were in charge of this mission, because you're not. You took a small detail of Skull Kid's excitement and turned it into something huge. Please stop and give Leoluiz a chance to post. As to the switch, again, you're posting as if the dungeon were built according to your design—just standing on it will work fine. GM Post: Dream DungeonGM Post: Dream Dungeon As Deralen stepped onto the hexagonal rusted switch, it became clear that there had been no need for him to transform into his ball form, or even to jump on top of it to produce more force—with a brief screech as the rusted surface sunk into the ground, the switch depressed with another loud click. There was another loud rumble of sliding stone around the Path of Visions, and this time, all three of the Champions could feel the ground beneath them shuddering slightly, as if in a miniature earthquake. When the tremor and grinding noise had stopped completely, they turned and looked at the right-most wall, where the sound had originated from—just a moment before, the wall had seemed seamless, carved with incredible masonry in a straight plane of limestone without break or indent. Now, a section of that same wall had rotated in a cunning cube-like fashion, presenting another face to the three Champions—unlike the previous one, however, this wall had a carved opening that led forwards to a small, dusty wooden chest on an elevated pedestal. To the left of the pedestal, the first few steps of a short spiral staircase could be seen, leading down and away, further into the Dream Dungeon's depths. Current Location: Path of Visions (Waking World) [spoiler=Places of Interest] Places of Interest: • Path of Visions: You've been here before, and the appearance of the pavilion remains the same, save for two very important details—first, the transdimensional activity you set into motion has raised the gate to a rusted switch, allowing you access. Now that the switch has been activated, the concealed door to the right-most side of the room has been revealed, allowing further progress into the dungeon. Although you're making progress, only one of three doors leading further into the Dream Dungeon is currently available, and that's the one that was just rotated into view. • Depressed Switch: A rusted switch that was previously elevated and guarded by an impenetrable black metal gate, you have successfully raised the barrier and activated the switch. Pressing the switch has revealed a new path, but now that its purpose has been served, there doesn't seem much point in lingering about. • Meditation Alcove Access: Previously concealed by a combination of flawless stone masonry and a cunning rotating system, you have only just recently revealed this path. It can be accessed by proceeding down a short spiral staircase carved into the stone, whose end is out of view. At the right of the staircase, level with its first step, is an elevated circular pedestal, upon which a small wooden chest is laid. It's currently the only other path available to you, short of leaving the Dream Dungeon.
