An old monarch build I made a while ago. Works fine, could be better.

Have at it, YCM.

What cards do you usually recover using Feather of the Phoenix? I don't see any that serve you any better in the deck as your next draw than in your hand. If you recover monsters, then Reincarnation is better.

I dont see any real spell/trap removal aside from Stratos, and if that gets Bottomlessed, you're a bit stuck, as you'd have to use Raiza or Caius to nuke/spin cards. Wouldn't Mobius help for S/T removal and it can work with Absolute Zero if the urge arises?

I'm not really an expert on Monarch-related decks, so I should probably test it a little. Feather just strikes me as a weird choice. What use do you have for it?

Hm. Feather IS a weird choice, now that I think about it. Its main use was to retrieve Stratos in a circumstance where he's Grave'd without City 2.

I'll neg it for Reincarnation. Now I'm wondering what I was thinking for that...

With Caius, Raiza and Statos being dropped at nigh every opportunity, I doubt Mobius would be necessary. Being able to fuse a monarch for Zero would be nice, I guess, though. I might drop Kuraz for a Mobius and something for a Heavy.

Elemental Hero Woodsman x3

Marauding Captain x2

Kuraz the Light Monarch x1

Monster Reincarnation x2

Polymerization x1

Just to name a few problems.

And Monarchs with no Brain Control ... lol

Listing cards without suggestions for replacements is pro.

Woodsies and poly are surprisingly consistent here. I've had few problems busting out Zero or Gaia, especially considering Woods is a E-call/Stratos target.

Marauding + Rose = instant lv7 Synchro.

Marauding + Woodsies, Ocean or Stratos = Free field presence.

Kuraz is a CotH-able Caius. No attacking and free cards for the opponent sucks, though. Not too fond of Thestalos, I'd rather ruin their field if I'm playing monarchs.

Reincarnation grabs Stratos when it dies and pays for itself after Stratos is summoned.

Brain Control is nice. Dropped a Reincarnation for it. Dropped the other for a heavy.

[b']HEY GUIZ LETS RUN SOME -2S IN A DECK THAT WINS BY GETTING A LOT OF CARD ADVANTAGE! DERP1[/b]

Marauding + Rose = instant lv7 Synchro.

HEY GUIZ LETS RUN A -1 IN A DECK THAT WINS BY GETTING A LOT OF CARD ADVANTAGE

And do note that most LV7 synchros suck.

HEY GUIZ LETS RUN THE ONLT MONARCH THAT DOESN'T GIVE CARD ADVANTAGE IN A DECK THAT WINS BY GETTING A LOT OF CARD ADVANTAGE! DERP!

Reincarnation grabs Stratos when it dies and pays for itself after Stratos is summoned.

ITT: The Warrior Returning Alive doesn't exist

Brain Control is nice. Will make room.

Brain Control is not "nice". It's the most important card in the deck

tl;dr: Don't play Monarchs. It's obvious that you don't know how to play them and what card advantage is.

...Which has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. Genius rebuttle.

Give me a Stratos target with positive card advantage and you'll be a lot more helpful.

Marauding + Rose = instant lv7 Synchro.

Explain how a card moving from hand to the field is bad in monarchs.

Using the rule of three for emphasis? Nice. No comment since I don't particularly like Kuraz.

Reincarnation grabs Stratos when it dies and pays for itself after Stratos is summoned.

ITT: The Warrior Returning Alive doesn't exist

Well, that was silly of me. Oh well, doesn't really matter since I already dropped Reincarnation.

Brain Control is nice. Will make room.

Brain Control is not "nice". It's the most important card in the deck

A Limited card with no way of getting into my hand quickly is the most important card in the deck? Well that's unfortunate.

tl;dr: Don't play Monarchs. It's obvious that you don't know how to play them and what card advantage is.

Well that's helpful.

Final Note- You obviously know how to make a good deck. You're also very unpleasant to speak to. Give me something other than random nonsequitur condescending comments and I'll listen to you.

Ctrl + F: Future Fusion and Miracle Fusion not found' date=' derp.

Is 'derp' the new Cool Kid's meme or something?

Also, noted.

Someone who didn't even bother to research the deck he is making doesn't deserve constructive criticism.

:)

Funny, I was under the misconception this forum was FOR constructive criticisms and posts that aren't constructive are spam.

Silly me. How dare I be subpar. Mediocrity is a crime, evidently. Btw, love the smiley.

That said, I'm still going to rework this deck a bit. Off the top of my head, things that need to be done include dropping the captains and finding a replacement for Woodsie.

If you run Absolute Zero in the Extra with Monarchs, I'd suggest a hybrid Diva-Monarch-Synchro build.

I have one posted if you'd like to have a look: http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-184261.html

Also, Miracle Fusion really helps as well as Giant Trunade to reuse Future Fusion/clear the backrow.

Cyber Dragon is a must with Monarchs.
