Tap water, purified tap water and bottled water all have the same amount of average bacteria. Bottled water, however, can be up to ten dollars more than either other option.

Amount of Waste:

Bottled water- 80% of water bottles contribute to 3 billion pounds of waste. Some scientists believe it could take 1,000 years for the plastic to decompose. If the bottles are sitting in a landfill, unless the bottles are at the top, the bottles won’t decompose at all. A lot of greenhouse gases are produced from making plastic bottles. Millions of gallons of fuel are wasted daily when filtered tap water is transported across America.

Reverse Osmosis Filter: The filters have to be changed sometimes so some filters have to be thrown out. The filters take just as long as the bottles to decompose.

Tap Water: The tap water does no major damage to the environment.

Possible sources of error:

Prices may be slightly inaccurate.

Tap water is the top choice as it is cheapest and most easily accessable. For more info visit this site, click here!

You could' date=' however just put tap water into a water bottle.

You still have to buy the bottle, correct?

On average, the people who do buy bottled water do it for one of three reasons, if not all three.

  1. They get their water from a well.
  2. They use the old water bottles over and over again.
  3. They are often on the road a lot and need a quick accessable drink.

Care to prove that?

That walking is more eco-friendly, or that people still drive?

Probably the former, as the latter can be proved... in like 3 seconds.

I voted for no in the poll because this is all common knowledge. Only snobby, stuck up peoples or peoples that are overly worried about germs buy bottled water. Peoples could buy ONE water bottle and fill it with tap instead of constantly buying hundreds of bottles of water. Much more eco-friendly a cost efficient.

I drink a lot. I'd rather just grab a battle sitting by me then have to go fill it up again. True, it may seem lazy, but it wastes much less time then filling it back up.

But the way you're doing still costs more and is less eco-friendly.

Go to a highway. Wait 10 minutes. If you don't see a single car (assuming the highway is functioning properly, not blocked off, et cetera) than I owe you 10 billion dollars.

Also, pics or it didn't happen.

And what makes you think I give? I'm not one of those people who does things eco-friendly, I do it the more convenient way.

It doesn't matter if you care. But it still proves my point on what type of peoples buy bottled water. And the way you're doing it is less conveniant. Unless of course you thinks it's conveniant to waste money on water you already have access to.
