[Max Darkness] Power Tool Dragon /Assault Mode

I currently have two obsessions; the Earthbound Immortals (which apparently are making a re-appearance in 5Ds) and "Power Tool Dragon".

So, with help from Chizuruotohime and her artist Kaibaman (Image is a request); "Power Tool Dragon /Assault Mode" has been born!

Enjoy.

Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except with "Assault Mode Activate". When this card is Summoned, and once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can add 1 Equip Spell Card from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, you can discard 1 card from your hand to select 1 Equip Spell Card in your Graveyard and add it to your Deck. You cannot add the selected card to your hand with this card's effect. While this card is equipped with an Equip Spell Card, any Battle Damage this card's controller takes is halved. If this card would be removed from the field while equipped with an Equip Spell Card, you can send that card to the Graveyard instead. That card's effect is negated. When this card on the field is destroyed, you can Special Summon 1 "Power Tool Dragon" from your Graveyard.
An Effect Explanation]

Now, although this effect may seem overpowered, considering it can continually protect itself and its controller, it has weaknesses. After all, you need to get it onto the field and the amount of anti-Trap cards out there make that a problem.

Also, "Power Tool Dragon" is not the strongest Machine-Type Synchro, "Ally of Justice Catastor" takes that honour, and due to its unique effect; not many Decks work with it, furthering reducing the likelihood of this card being summoned.

Finally, it has to sacrifice an Equip Spell to stay alive, despite reducing the Battle Damage; and any Spell returned to your Deck cannot be added by its effect, so relatively quickly, it will run out of easily avaliable armour (so to speak).

I like this card, but it's still a bit on the OP'd side. If you equipped this card with a self-recycling equip such as "Horn of the Unicorn" (recycling equips return themselves to the top of the Deck when destroyed), you would have surefire and infinite Tribute Fodder for his effect. Plus, Power Tool would receive the benefits of these Equips, raising it's ATK into the realm of the upper 3000's. That's a bit too much, even by Assault Mode standards. Still, flawless OCG and a great self drawn pic. Props to you and JadenKaiba. :)

First of all, I suggest getting the image editted, like Saiba Aisu does with JadenKaiba's pictures, because though it is of course very well-made, hand-drawn doesn't match the style of Yugioh cards at all.

This card would actually be pretty underpowered... if not for Horn of the Unicorn, Sword of the Deep-Seated etc. I know - noone really uses those cards, because they're more of a liability than advantage. But, by forfeiting your draws, you have an infinitely regenerating monster. And of course with this card's effect you can always fill your hand with other cards, or get that Horn of the Unicorn. Unfortunately, I can't think of a good way to fix that problem without some absurd specifications.

All-in-all, nice idea.

Actually, you can't. And "Horn of the Unicorn" is no use. When this card loses its Equip, that card's effect is negated; so all recycling Equips go to Graveyard regardless.

And any Equip returned to your Deck cannot be added to your hand by this card's effect, so you will rapidly run out of quickly avaliable Equips (since most Decks don't run a lot of them); and will have to wait to draw them.

By which time, this thing will probably be in the Graveyard.

Horn of the Unicorn activates in your Graveyard. The way you have worded it now, it does nothing to stop it from recycling. It'd only stop an Equipment Spell with an effect like "when this card is destroyed, the equipped monster is also destroyed", or something along these lines.

"Horn of the Unicorn" activates when it's sent to the Graveyard, not while it's there (It's a trigger, not a continuous effect). So, when it's destroyed by "PTD /AM", its recycling effect cannot activate due to the former's trigger negation effect and so it is sent to the Graveyard and stays there.
