@burnpsy: MTG has been around for almost 20 years. I don't even know anyone who plays the Pokemon TCG. I know at least 15 people who play MTG at my school.

MtG is more popular in a school setting due to the negative connotations that Pokemon carries. Nobody will admit it unless they are present at a tourney, online discussing it, or like me (not caring what anyone thinks).

Further, the stats show Magic with a lower popularity overall. Length of existence doesn't matter (other business types agree with me there). YGO has been around the shortest but is on top.

It goes like this:

YGO

PKMN

MtG

Chaotic/Naruto/etc.

Magic: The Gathering is cheaper to play than the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG.

Discuss.

Not a TCG.

Any proof of this?

Any proof of your claim of it being more popular? As I said, other businesses types (like cars and retail) prove that length of existence matters not. That plus Pokemon being next to Mario at the top of the Video Game industry, with older things FAR below but still poular.

If you're asking for proof, present your own first. I'll go dig up my data while I wait.

EDIT: Edited, huh? Still, Pokemon is in a similar situation to MtG. It's irrelevant. people play what they prefer. Plus, Pokemon has tons of free stuff, like tourneys.

Fine. Let me rephrase that. All CARD SHOPS sell cards for outrageous prices.

Also, decks run about 20 creatures. The most I have summoned in one turn was 5 creatures with 1 power and 1 toughness, which cost 1 mana each. This is after there have been at least 8 turns.

I meant tokens. Which end up being 100/100 Trample, Flying, Deathtouch, Fear, Shroud, etc; etc;

And most matches are normally done by turn 8.

What burnspy said.

Oh, and burnspy, last time I checked, Pokémon was more popular than yugioh.

It might be. It's hard to count outside of purely sales, in which the YGO site claims supremacy.

Also, MtG has several $1000+ cards and a list of things that are promised to NEVER be reprinted.

I'll edit this post with links to the key cards in the combo. My friends mentioned it, showed me some of the cards involved, but never explained fully.

Okay. Sure.

There we go.

My bad' date=' it was a 20/20 Flying Token that comes from a land.

Pair with Burst of Speed (I guess?).

[/quote']

There are no cards that give you a 20/20 Flying Token.

My post edit above disproved you.

Indestructable too. >___>

Okay, yeah. You can do this if your starting hand has 2 Black Lotus, 1 Burst of Speed, 1 Vampire Hexmage, and 1 Dark Depths. This combo is impossible, because Black Lotus is restricted in Vintage format and banned in all other formats.

There's a card that exiles itself from your hand to add mana. I don't remember the name but there is one.

Most go for the turn 2 variant though, more consistent.

Either way, I can think of several FTK's in Yu-Gi-Oh.

i fall asleep playing magic unless playing their fun cards. no card game should take 10min's to get to the good parts.

You're just an impatient idiot, then.
