Will I get any retribution for it? To quote Eminem, "fuck no". And what do you lose from it? An extra second to your life? Some calories for bending over? It's not like you're slaving away for these people. It doesn't cost you anything. Being an art major, I'm often loaded down with supplies, and I can tell you from experience, when someone says "here, let me get that for you", and holds the door, it really does brighten my day.
