If you can only protect him from card effects, he cannot be killed by any other monster, well, except if they were Honested, although Shinato is Honestable himself . Unfortunately, that would be too slow to accomplish competitively, unless there was a hell of a lot of draw power and the entire deck was dedicated to Shinato.
