A lot of people use Paint to splice, even I use it, it's simpler.

Anyway, the big white border is scary D=

And the colours match, but it's nothing really clever, just a bit of chopping and changing colour.

xD

I'll get back into splicing.

the expert spriters here must be gone. not normal for jappio. but' date=' ill fill in for him.

FAIL shading, dont delete pichus shading, just recolor it.

OK design. and make sure pichus ears are properly connected to sentrets head.

1. The 'expert spriters' are still here, but none of them post cnc anymore since most novice sprites just ignore it

2. Pichu's ears (or ear, technically) don't have very vivid shadings.

Now, I've noticed that most spriters have certain pet peeves on sprites. Jappio has stated many times that he hates uncolored borders, my niche is mirrored parts. You can't use the exact same ear on your sprite twice. Pichu has 2 ears. Use them both.

Speaking of Jappio's pet peeve, it appears as if you've forgotten a few yellow pixels on the ears. Those needs to go. You've also forgotten to fill in some borders where the ears were pasted.

All in all, the sprite needs more Pichu. I understand your just starting to sprite, but just small details from Pichu really would improve the sprite.

I almost forgot, this isn't as important than the previous things I mentioned, however it is still worth saying. The Sentret sprite you used as a base is the 2nd Frame sprite. In the future, I suggest you use 1st frame.

If people are wondering where I went, I'm not doing the written CnC much anymore. Just like a week ago you may recall that there were like a ton of sprites everywhere. The work load was a bit much, I was falling behind. So what I did to remedy that was started my video critique. Although I don't get to as many sprites, the ones that I do get a heck of a lot of attention and I can proper explain and show how I think things should be done. Overall a better method if you ask me. With that existing also, I know the people coming to me want their sprite to be fixed, that they want the advice, which are the people who deserve it.

Now I didn't just come here to rant on about my life here though. There is a sprite here that needs commenting on. Don't expect written responses like this too often, but on whim I may decide to do this.

As mentioned by multiple, your recoloring needs work. In the ears you have the brown/yellow pixels that need to be changed to Sentret's browns. Obviously there is also a bright yellow tail sticking out of this creature. It also lacks a border on one side. Using the tans from the belly for the normal tail color, and the brown border of the body, I think it would make a good color for it.

The subject of mirroring was brought up. A simple copy and flip adds a noticeable effect to your sprite. A lot of options to avoid this. Use different Pichu sprites to get a 2nd ear that fits. If you're up for the hard work, you could even try scratching and editing the ear so it isn't the exact same.

There is some general messiness up near the ears and forehead. You lack some borders, and there are pixels that just are out of place. I'm going to guess you don't have much of an eye for pixels quite yet, so you can't see them. Try taking the bucket tool and filling in the brown area on the head and ears with white. You'll see some pixels that are of a different color, that will be left behind and not change to white like the rest.

If you made these changes, I'd say the sprite would be looking better. A tad plain, so it won't go winning awards or anything. It lacks a certain 'wow' factor. However the more amazing stuff will come in time. Try to think of interesting combinations when choosing your pieces. For now though I suggest you work on your neatness. Take the time to zoom in and understand your sprite, to see what you can do to make it better. Keep an eye out for pixels that don't fit. If you rush it will be bad, and using rushness as an excuse for poor work rarely works.
